i dont get it mate. bert walks forward and he owns the ring generalship even in first 2 rounds, parker does the same and hughie owns it by a mile, running a backward marathon?
and again, i dont see how throwing and missing is any worse than not landing because you dont throw. one can easily argue that it was parkers greater work rate that made hughie so negative and focused on defense. best defense is a good ofense and all that. why should he get less credit than hughie got for just prancing around? basically that gives fighters an incentive to do f@ck all rather than try to make something of it

i cant even remember how i scored it, but i have no problem with jp getting the decision and dont think hughie was hard done by at all
parker throwing and missing isnt any worse than hughie not throwing and hence not landing. should've given each of them losses for that sh!t show
I scored Hughie wide, but I totally get why he lost.
He shoulda won clearly, tho'...
1 - Effective aggression - zero from both
2 - Ring Generalship and defence - it was Hughie "Shades of Ali" by a MILE.
Baby Fury is kind of like a gigantic, much lesser skilled Rigo. You can’t get away with just not getting hit. You will lose. You can have a good career, but if you want to make a mark you must win fights. The way that you win fights is by winning rounds. You don’t win rounds by just avoiding punches. He must land meaningful shots.
Parker is a bit of an enigma. He seems to have reached his level, which means that he is ripe for upset if he is not on his game tomorrow night.
I agree that Baby Fury has not reached his potential. I am not convinced that he ever will.

I gave Browne the first two rounds because I thought he accomplished more; certainly not by a lot, but enough.
I score rounds even very seldom. I have found in the past that when I start scoring rounds even I find myself doing it more often, using it as an excuse to avoid a decision.

It is.
But “defence” IS in the scoring criteria and - with zero “effective aggression” from either - Hughie won almost every round for me.
He was more “shades of Willie Pep” - winning rounds without throwing a punch.

I'm still trying to figure out how people thought Hughie beat Parker. I had Parker by a wide margin.

Have you watched the fight recently?
The official scorecards were 118-110, which was just plain wrong. Also, a lot of Parker's flurries in that fight didn't hit the target.
The Kiwi was rewarded for aggression, despite most of his punches only hitting thin air.
It was a close fight that could have gone either way, definitely not a robbery, but the judges scorecards were an utter disgrace.
