1st fight result: Bornea KO3
Re: January 14 & 15, 2022 Fight Picks Contest - New Players Welcome!
Cheers CMCanavessi!
Unfortunately at the time I last checked for odds on these matches there weren't any for the Bornea fight. So I have removed the betting stats for that bout.
I have just updated the rest of the odds for tonights cards.
Congratulations to the 6 who called the stoppage. Most people went for a decision win. Nobody called round 3.

I thought he might get it done, but in 3 rounds is very impressive!

I watched the fight live. He didn't look good in the first 2 rounds. Obbadi was very accurate and was punching well and dominating, but in the 3rd Bornea KOed him with a brutal liver blow. Well done, but not impressed.

Do you live in the Monterrey area, CMC?

Power is the great equaliser. I watched it after the event. It looked just like you said, except it also looked like Bornea was sizing him up and Obbadi wasn't troubling him - power wise.
I still think anyone at that weight who can get it done in under 3 rounds against a medium level opponent is pretty decent - especially a one shot stoppage

I finally was able to watch Bornea v Obbadi. I must disagree with you on Bornea’s performance.
Bornea came out in the first round orthodox. He appeared to be having problems landing, with Obbadi beating him to the punch. But, I think that Bornea was just feeling him out and mainly checking his power.
Bornea came out southpaw in the 2nd and the complexion of the fight immediately change. Bornea was jabbing and countering well with his right and testing Obbadi’s body with his left. He was walking Obbadi down. While it was a relatively close round, Bornea landed the cleaner and more telling blows, imo.
In the third rd it became a simple cat and mouse exercise. Bornea had no respect for Obbadi’s power and seemed to recognize that he was vulnerable to the body.
Bornea is a formidable boxer with heavy hands. He needs to work on his jab, feinting/head movement, and footwork.
