Joking aside boxers are much more likely to suffer damage if they yo-yo in weight or fight when weight drained and out of shape. I'm pretty sure that one of the reasons Bowe suffered like he has is due to his constant battle against weight and its drain on the bodys natural defences.Shirow wrote:Is anyone else seeing shades of Riddick Bowe?
It would appear that Ricky trains like a maniac when he's in training and rewards himself by being a complete slob when not.
I think the reason he looked his worst ever on Ringside was because he's going into what he can expect to be his hardest fight ever by a lightyear with the longest training camp. So as a treat he's been sitting on his arse stuffing down the burgers and chocolate ice cream.
This sort of punishment/reward system probably works for him psychologically and he can get away with it against inferior fighters but when you come up against your equal or superior it's a very dangerous and unnecessary risk.
