I'm all honesty I think AJ would shite himself. Joyce is untested at world level but has a decent chin. I don't think for one minute AJ would end it in one round. I wouldn't even bet a tenner on a AJ victory

I think it would be a categorical mistake for Joshua to chase the KO against Joyce from the early onset because I think Joe would just soak it up and then catch Joshua when he is wild and reckless.

"Lol ok … I've shared this ring with most people you see in the heavyweight division today!
"I boxed Otto Wallin twice as youngsters & I boxed Joe and stopped him in 1 round. I'd do the same thing today! Ain't nothing changed."
A cursory look at both records show that AJ's first round stoppage of Joyce was old Cement Head's amateur debut, while Joshua was already about 4 years in. It's also not recorded as a KO or a TKO, but rather a RSCH, which essentially means the young Joshua punched Joyce in the head very hard and the amateur ref stopped it because of that.
I wonder, does any footage of this brutal first round destruction of a debutant exist? We'd all like to see it.
Conversely, 2 years into Joyce's amateur career he was fighting Gold Medal holding Oleksander Usyk in the WSB, where he arguably (and with incredibly limited experience)gave a better account of himself against everybody's favourite Ukrainian than the Lynx model did in his last fight, where he looked a lot like he was crying at the end.
There's more to that poll result than everyone just thinking Joshua's a bit of a donut these days...
Sign the contract, big boy! Sign the contract!

joe had been boxing for 4 years at that time and it wasnt his debut (boxrec records are incomplete), but aj had a lot more fight experience and joe obviously got a lot better. you can see he lost to sean turner too early in his am career, no one would pick turner over him now though!

In other news, Shaun Porter beat Usyk once so is coming back for him.

Yeah, before a bit of editing down, I did originally write a longer post taking into account how Boxrec's amateur records weren't the most reliable and also included a little paragraph about how AJ's early am record (at least on Boxrec)did include a fairly disproportionate number of debutants (including his loss to ringer Whyte, who is also listed as a debutant but had quite a decent record as a K1 fighter, which I believed Whyte was penalised for) and fighters with losing records.
But I figured that more knowledgable Boxrec posters would be able to construct some better arguments, and so chopped it down to keep it simple and challengeable, for fun's sake.
Regardless, it still helps illustrate my main point: the amateurs are the time to lose and learn. Victories over relatively inexperienced fighters in the ams don't mean that much. And if AJ is going to use that as an excuse to not bother with Joyce, real boxing fans shouldn't buy it.
Joyce is a tough challenge. If AJ thinks it means his am beating of Joyce means that the Joyce of today is an easy win for him, then get it on, tough guy.

It's always fun to go back through am records to find fighters from different weight classes fought, and lost to or beat, each other. Amateur wins don't mean that much to me when it comes to the pros, as fascinating as they are.

I think Joyce stops AJ. I think Dubois hits harder than Joshua and Joyce stood up to Dubois' right hand.

not sure about that - compare how kevin johnson took dubois shots for a full 10, never going down, to how he immediately crumpled from aj's. dub hasnt beaten anyone who would make it past 2 or 3 rounds with aj. i doubt tom little would get past the first with aj but he went into the 5th vs dubs
aj has proven his power at a much higher level + has a far more destructive showing vs common opponent kev johnson. ppl starting to underrate him. if not dropping everyone means he isnt a legit banger, then neither is wilder

Joe Joyce To Joshua: You’re a Glass Cannon, Quit The Act, You Were Given Everything
It took nearly a week, but Joyce eventually took to social media to fire back.
"And Anthony Joshua you [are] having a meltdown, where’s all your belts? All those sponsorships and endorsements helping? You’re a glass cannon, quit the act, you were given everything," Joyce said.
It didn't take long before Joshua fired back: "It took you 5 days to think of this…"

they aren't exaggerating either, joyce began working on that post last week, and only just finished it now
by the way, if they want him to get to his next fight on time, he better start his ring walk soon

The old Joshua might've but not this gun-shy one. Now it's 50-50.

Yeh, pre Ruiz.. that AJ was decent and was going for it..
Just like in that actual fight as well.. He was going for Ruiz's head..
He didn't like that ear shot..
That one shot changed him.

Loads of things speak volumes about him. He's openly said he has to check what he's wearing before he leaves his house. He hasn't a clue what his corner (all of them), are going on about.

Joe beats the bejaysus out of AJ. Too big, too strong and a far better engine.
Joe stops him mid to late rounds. Aj don't wanna war with the juggernaut.
He gonna get him some Otto Wallin or Bobby Hellanius

He said he has to check what tracksuit he is wearing, which drink he is drinking and which headphones he has on.
