Got back home for the Avanesyan fight to find it was already done and dusted. I thought it was the main event.

It was mate. Sheeraz was a floater I believe. Guess they knew it’d end sharpish.

Hang on? so its over... you cant have the 2nd biggest fight on the card as the floater. Thats just swapping the main event but not wanting to admit your main event is soo bad it needs swapping...
Also, boxrec says metz got a standing count... didnt know that was allowed, or did he get rocked into the ropes?

They said the 2 fights were co-mains. I guess they may have been worried that Sheeraz’s fans would have left after his fight if he’d gone on first.

Yeah - they announced before the fights that each was the co-main.
The ref gave him a standing count when he shouldn’t have done. It didn’t matter as the ref called it at the end of the count and the corner had the towel ready.

Yeah - they announced before the fights that each was the co-main.

I mean it didnt matter this time. But someone needs to sit the ref down and teach him the rules.

Honestly can't tell if this is fan boy kiwi or sarcastic kiwi. But Mets wouldn't last a round vs boots, Ortiz, Spence, Benn, Lithuanian, craw, porter... Ava Mckinson would be fun. Or in house Ava esko.

No problem with Ava's fight, it was a legit Euro defence but clearly he's beyond that level now.
I'd be interested to know what the attendance was though, it looked absolutely empty. 10 years ago that bill would have been in a leisure centre. Are BT Sport paying that much for shows that ticket sales/venue rental dont matter?

I’ve just caught up on the full show (I was watching the UFC last night so only watched the Avanesyan/Sheeraz fights live).
It’s one of the worst shows I can remember in terms of competitiveness. The main/co main went exactly how most would have expected and none of the undercard fights were particularly good either although I like the potential of seeing Noakes in with Chamberlain.
I also don’t remember seeing Wembley Arena as empty as it was. They/BT shouldn’t have had it opposite the UfC in the same city, on the same network, on the same night. There was minimal promotion for this too. I saw Frank on Twitter pushing that they only had limited tickets left a few days ago.
The UFC card shows boxing how it lets itself down. The crowd were into it early doors, the atmosphere was hot throughout and the fights were well matched.
I know Frank/BT have Fury/Whyte coming up which is a terrific fight but their Q1 output has been really poor and a long way off Sky/DAZN. One good fight (Bourke/Leech) isn’t enough.

Avanesyan does look great against inferior opposition that much is clear but how many pastys does he need to blow away before they realise the Benn fight isn't happening anytime soon?
I don't really get the Benn rivalry tbh, there's no history or beef, Benn's team have admitted that their man isn't quite ready for Avanesyan so why is Neil Marsh and Warren obsessed with stalling their man's career while Benn keeps improving his stock? There's nothing more pathetic in boxing than a fighter a level above clout chasing guys below their level, especially when there's no real reason for the obsession apart from both being in same weight, theres plenty of great fights out there for Avanesyan but his team are more than happy to fight below the level while they wait for Benn
If Benn and his team were constantly calling out Avanesyan the way their being called I'd understand the whole Benn ducking angle but seeing as Eddie and Sims have Ben saying for a couple years now that their man isn't ready that should've been the end of it there and then until the opportunity presented itself again, Neil Marsh is failing his man and Warren needs no excuse to feed his man stiffs

Are you being serious with this Kiwi?!? I usually fully agree with you which has got me concerned! I like Avanesyan as a fighter as he really brings it but wiping out Liam Taylor and Oskari Metz doesn’t prove anything. He had good wins against Lejarraga and Kelly but I think we’d all agree that Lejarraga is a little limited whilst Kelly had a lot of promise but flattered to deceive at times. Not one of those 4 fighters has a world class win behind them.
The 2 guys he’s fought that were genuinely top 10 in the world when he fought them were Peterso, who outboxed him, and Kava who broke him up with the jab and his hen stopped him on his feet.
I’m not saying Ava is an average fighter, far from it, but I think the bulk of the world top 10 rates welterweights would beat him.

I think Ava is very good but he would take a beating off both Crawford and Spence. Benn though is a different story he would knock him out double lively as well

Ava has improved, and somewhere along the way picked up some power. Maybe I'm over sold on him?
I do realistically see him as top 5. The guy is a bit of a beast.
As for Spence, we are only guessing as to where he is now. We will soon know, and have a better idea where he is in the mix. A lot has happened in his life the last two years.
