Yes. Chis may be brave, but i think it's over for him. I hope Yoka will learn from this experience.

He’s 28, I’m sure he can come again.

I think he needs to fight pot of France.

Hopefully now that he has a loss, he doesn’t have it to lose anymore and will take on more challenges.

Yep, he ran from a "plodder" who could have got him out of there if he had the cardio. We should be suspicious of every fighter on our list who hasn't proven themselves in a fight with someone willing to try and win. Look at Kownacki, Miller would have been the same.

Bakole nearly entered the top15 when we had that clear out towards the end of last year.

We chose to enter Helenius and Sanchez.

I always thought both only really ended up in the conversation mainly for beating hype jobs on the undercard of Fury-Wilder 3 and not much else. Helenius especially, who has otherwise always lost to even the slightest name within their prime that he's faced. I've never forgotten the Chisora robbery. I was kind of amazed people wanted to get him into our rankings so much.

But the division really lacked depth so, OK, whatever.

Furthermore, I rewatched Bakole-Hunter and I'd forgotten that Bakole had an injured shoulder and probably should have been pulled out by his corner, who were like "get back in there and get killed" which I recall caused some controversy at the time. Yes Hunter was winning, but they could have saved Bakole for another day?

In retrospect maybe it made him a tougher fighter?

Think you are being unduly harsh on Helenius there.

Kownacki for me was never top 10 (the Ring was doing there best to hype the American circuit as per usualy). But he was comfortably a top 20 fighter based on resume. Plus he was undefeated. Helenius beat him comfortably in back to back fights.

No one was putting Helenius in the top 10. But Top 15 is more than justified based on that.

Time to move on from the Chisora robbery in regards to ranking Helenius. It was over 10 years ago...

I've just been watching the guy fight since he was a hyped up prospect knocking out the likes of Sam Peter. I included the Chisora fight not because I'm bitter about it or anything but rather I suspect I've a longer memory than a some of the fans who voted him into the top 15. Helenius hasn't really done anything impressive apart from beat Kownacki his whole career, or at least since the Chisora 'win'.

I just thought it was funny, you know, there's this big night of heavyweights and Helenius gets a good looking win on it and all of a sudden people want to make him top 15, when he'd not really done anything else to justify it... Ever, I think? Apart from beat the same guy.

Anyway, it's only my opinion. I'm often wrong about stuff!

stopping kownacki easily makes a guy a candidate for the top 15

it goes back to the fact that so few guys out there are really doing much of note, it doesnt take a hell of a lot to crack the lower end of the rankings. we shouldnt just say 'this win isnt that great' or whatever, but actually have to compare it to what the other ranked guys have done.

Got to say I'm a bit surprised so many put Bakole above Pulev based off beating Yoka, when Pulev has only fallen short at the elite level, and keeps comfortably beating flavour of the month fighters.

Haha, it's all good. It took me over 20 years to move beyond the Lewis v Holyfield 1 robbery. And to be honest, I'm still a bit pissed off about it.

I guess for me I put more weight on what have you done for me lately. Which often seems to be the case with boxing ranking ladders.

I meant to say inside the top 10. He got quite a lot of surprised votes to be at #9, but there was also votes that he goes #10 and a few below. Gotta go with the majority and find the in between.

It’s good Bakole is where he is, I think the main thing for him now if where he goes from here? Does he take a step back, does he challenge another prospect/fringe level known name.

I've seen some news that the WBC wants to make an 8-man tournament to crown a new champion if Fury retires (or stays retired). They were mentioning the likes of Wylder, Ruiz Jr, Joyce, Big Mak, Sanchez, Whyte, among others...

Sounds interesting, at least on paper. Has anyone heard/read anything about it?

An 8-man heavyweight tournament would be great for the sport, but the WBC rarely ever does anything that's good for boxing.

The thing with these tournaments is, the boxers have to get on board. a 4-man yes, but 8-man seems like it's dragging.
