He likes the protection. Knows deep down that he needs it.
I thought he had personal problems with Mayweather?

I'm just reporting what I've read. I hope I read wrong because, we all know he'll be coddled for whatever the length of the contract is if it's true.

You are correct in him being coddled. I just don't know how much longer he can keep winning even with less than spectacular opposition.

Coddling boxers is more common than we like to admit. Sometimes we accuse boxers of ducking, and it ends up being promoters. Other times, it's on the boxer that blames the promoter or network.

I put 90% on the boxers themselves. If they want the best fights they'll get made. As fans it's easy to see through the BS. DLH is probably the most guilty of coddling.

Yep. I put most of the blame on the boxers too for the same reason. If you REALLY want to fight the big fights, then you'll find a way to make that happen.

When a guy is coddled for years, and then re-signs with the promoter that's been coddling him. He's making a conscious choice to stay in his Mother's loving arms basically.

Crawford and Gervonta made that choice, and that's why I don't think much of either one of 'em as far as the way they've handled their career. Crawford really frustrates me because I KNOW he's better than he's strived for. He's just been perfectly willing to coast.

seems all very shady.

so Mayweather promotions announces tank has resigned with them just a couple of days after tank himself publicly states he wants 'to stand on his own feet', 'wishes Mayweather all the best' but has no intentions to resign.

Tank thought about it and realized if he left mayweather he may have to fight someone that isn't terrible.

Funny, but sadly it could be true.
Also he has made truckloads of money Vs low risk opponents with Wifebeater Promotions. Who wouldn't want more of that?
Well, us fans probably.

tank's homebois played the 'oh he's still so young' card for so long

but teo beat loma at 23 (and commey before that, who blasted out a guy who schooled rolly)

and now haney's undisputed at 23

shak unified vs valdez at 24

those are young cats really challenging themselves. tank is in his late 20s and hasnt matched them

We just don't know that for sure though Gil.
The guy has got game changing power at 130 & 135. Possibly 140 but I think that might be a stretch.

I really don’t understand the reason why people keep assuming “ducking” or “protected” are the reasons why PBC fighters rarely face their Top Rank counterparts.

How many times does history need to keep repeating itself before those same individuals finally appreciate what’s actually happening?

I’ll make it simple for everyone…

There’s a street, which fighters rarely cross, unless mega money is involved!

PBC + Top Rank = NO FIGHT!!! (unless mega PPV)

should sign where the talent is then

top rank have shak, haney, loma, kambo, teo, taylor, ramirez, etc....

garcia is with golden boy

if he reups with the same crew, he must not want those fights badly enough

Exactly.

Terence Crawford, Tim Bradley and Manny Pacquiao were in Tanks position when they were both with Top Rank. They couldn’t face fighters from the other side of the street.

Adonis Stevenson, Deontay Wilder and Jermall Charlo’s choice of opposition were restricted due to their ties with the PBC.

Both Sergey Kovalev and GGG were forced to reject bouts against PBC fighters, due to their ties with a rival network.

History is littered with fighters struggling to face their big-name rivals due to boxing politics.

But all we keep hearing from ignorant fight fans are the words “cowardice”, “ducking”, “protected” etc.

At some point, those intellectually challenged people have to start paying attention to what is actually happening!!!!

I know we're not sure about it, but I mean if someone is looking after you and protecting you for so many years, there must be reason why they feel the need to do that.

It also depends on how much the PBC and Showtime are willing to reward him for signing a contract extension.

Both Manny Pacquiao and Terence Crawford extended their deals with Top Rank, despite all their best big-name rivals being aligned with the PBC.

History might repeat itself in that regard, but with Tank instead renewing his deal with the PBC.

This is because boxers are known as “PRIZE fighters” rather than “PRIDE fighters”.

History has repeatedly told us that much better boxers than Tank have previously chosen the paycheque over sporting legacy.

I’m not saying I agree with that mindset, but it’s an undeniable fact that history keeps repeating itself.
