Nope but it was never confirmed on either.
Yeah looks like the thread was just started based on a rumour - from the very first post:
According to multiple sources, the fight is still not officially signed.

Better not hold his breath then ,,, and the more they let these fights slip into the public eye and then don't do it the quicker he'll go down in relevence ,, Benn on paper is pushing ahead , , Ok we all know why , the money is being spent on the right opponents , but they are name opponents Warren really is doing nothing for Avanesyan's carreer

Finlands running low on welterweights. Ava might have to take a trip to the Maldives to scout his next opponent.

Dan rafael:

Ortiz manager Rick Mirigian said. “Looks like Avanesyan and his team are running away as Vergil was given three opponents and didn't hesitate to take the toughest one weeks ago,” Mirigian said. “This guy has been calling Vergil out, saying he can’t avoid him, begging for this shot and talking shit online, and then has sat on a contract for two weeks. Golden Boy did everything they wanted, accommodated their every crazy need they asked for and Vergil even kicked in some money to help make the fight. They agreed to the deal and then never would send the actual contract back.” Mirigian told Fight Freaks Unite that Ortiz likely will face British southpaw Michael McKinson (22-0, 2 KOs). They were slated to fight March 19, but Ortiz withdrew due to illness and McKinson, 28, easily outpointed replacement Alex Martin.

Vergil Ortiz Jr and David Avanesyan
A proposed fight between Vergil Ortiz Jr and David Avanesyan is in danger of falling apart.

Last month it was revealed that the two welterweights would collide on August 6 in Texas but Ortiz’ manager Rick Mirigan has accused the European welterweight champion of “running away”.

In a lengthy post on social media Mirigan said that the Russian had “sat on a contract for two weeks and team saying it’s signed, told the promoters it’s signed and it’s a go then won’t send it back”.

He then added that as of Monday morning (July 6) Avanesyan’s team would be out of time to get the opportunity to secure the fight against the unbeaten star.

“Golden Boy (Ortiz promoter) did everything they wanted, accommodated their every crazy need they asked for and Vergil even kicked in some money to help make the fight.

“They agreed to the deal and then never would send the actual contract back and started playing games after. You wanted the fight and you got it so sign and send it in or go after a belt that they sell at WalMart!”

That post was from three days ago. The Monday deadline has now also been and gone and there has been nothing else said since. However, Boxing Social did reach out to Avanesyan’s promoter allegedly, and we asked if the fight was off.

“It isn’t at the moment,” he replied. “We are working on it.”

Following Mirigan’s post Michael McKinson’s manager Lee Eaton said his man was ready to face Ortiz. The British welterweight then added, “Send the same contract as before? No problem.”

Ortiz and McKinson had been scheduled to take on one another in March but the bout was pulled during fight week when the American was hospitalised having been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis.

Is Neil Marsh still managing Avanesyan?

Pretty disappointing if true. Promised to be a very fan friendly fight and if Ava could have toppled one of the most talked about young fighters in the weight class he would have propelled himself straight towards the upper echelons of the division. :brick:

Read elsewhere McKinson is a definete prospect fo the fight ,, Avenesyan , really needs to tell his manager and promoter to pull there finger out at this stage he has no right saying anything about Benn it appears he's just has bad . But then again its really just normal British boxing is'nt it .

Find it hard to like these guys and get behind them when they will not back themselves ,,,

As far as I know he is.

Possibly money related but remember although Avanesyan fights under both the Russian and Armenian flag it cannot be that straightforward for him at the moment. He doesn’t want to get into a Bivol situation having his pay cheque sanctioned.

The purse bids happened yesterday for the EBU belt between Ava and Jon Miguez (last seen beating Moorcroft on Matchroom’s last Spanish show).

FW either didn’t bid or lost the purse bid as it was won by Boxeo Kamikaze.

Frank said in an interview a few days ago that Ava would be defending the European next after not taking the Ortiz fight.

Crazy how his career has gone since beating Kelly.

I can't how few fighters fwanks managing to get on HIS shows.

DDD, Joyce, yard, Ava... All going the first 6 months of this year without a meaningfully by sports fight. But feels like there's going to be a few more months at least for most of them.
