I’m usually very pro boxer in disputes with promoters. It’s part of the reason I struggle to respect FW due to the times he’s not paid fighters.

For this though, and the Crawford allegation of racism against Top Rank, I think the boxers are in the wrong.

Okolie was headlining at the O2 in his 8th fight inside of a year from turning pro in front of a decent crowd (7-8,000 from memory). He won the Commonwealth, British and European inside of 14 fights (few fighters get the opportunity and do that) in 2 1/2 years of being pro and, despite several boring performances got a world title fight in his 16th fight. After the fight, he asked for £20-£30k Rolex. He was bought one.

I get people not being happy with things but to be going down the slave route was crazy considering the opportunities he’s had.

He’s been extremely lucky and been given a lot of 2nd chances after some horrendously boring displays. He’s sharpened up thanks to some thunderous power of late but in the fights where the opponent takes what he has it’s either gonna be a gouge your own eyes out boring UD win or a defeat.

ya i dont get this 'face of sky' stuff, surely if they've seen him they wouldnt have that in mind. maybe just buttering him up.

I love boxing and love getting behind British boxers, but when I watch Okolie fights, I end up looking at my phone.

His made a big error thinking his contract with Matchroom was finished and negotiating with Boxxer.

He should have then kept his mouth shut until his final fight was done rather than comparing Eddie to a plantation/slave owner.

He’s backed himself into a corner so either needs to wait for his contract to finish, get Boxxer to buy him out or take his contractual fight minimum to fight with Matchroom.
