Troy Williamson on his phone at ringside.

Think he was there taking selfies with Terry O Connor mid round who is there judging the fight.

Why is this up north?

They could have gotten a small arena near Sunderland surely

Kelly is still a sharp entertaining boxer. just his carrer has lost allll momentum. Love to see him stay busy in the english domestic 154 scene. its one of the funnest domestic divisions there is. NEEDs known opponents though, this crowd is pathetic (dosent help that the white empty chairs glow under the blue light)....

Wasserman is surely fuked. you need to be able to sell tickets, and draw views. only reason im watching this is because billum smith vs chamberlain ended. and crowd looks 1/4 full, mabey.

they have kelly and a eubank on the same card. and you can hear individual claps in the crowd. one side of it has an entire bank of seats and mabey 12 people..,

I think the guy with the shades in Bastida's corner was the original opponent for Barry McGuigan in Las Vegas in '86 before Steve Cruz came in as a substitute.
Not good for spectators that this will be nearly midnight when it's all done and dusted.

This argentinians shit. Hes not fornicating 6ft 1 either.

Had a few quid on him to win by ko just based on record and few clips and i dont rate kelly.

Still dont rate kelly. Any half decent pressure fighter has his life.

Lackluster from kelly in the end. I thought he looked nice early but he never pushed the action.

Kelly is the ultiment highlight reel fighter, not that he is the most exciting, but if you edit a 1 min clip from tonight you could convince people he is p4p number 1... when the reality is it was a british title levle preformance, if that. dont know what he needs to do, but he needs to do somthing different.

I've read that Sosa had two detached retinas...maybe that's got something to do with why he's wearing shades?
Kelly more style than substance, Flattering to deceive.

I guess it depends on whether the income they’re getting from channel 5 is enough to cover all their costs.

It’s a really tough market at the moment to sell tickets to shows that people don’t really care about.

98-92 Kelly comfortable win but not particularly impressive again, not exactly night and day between him and Bastida,, just slightly better in most departments, I think he looks even worse up at Super Welter, not as quick and sharp, poor work rate, didn't use the jab and never really opened Bastida up who looked no great shakes himself

Kelly just showed glimpses of his class and that was all it took, just flashy looking single shots that didn't have much quality on them, Kelly hard to hit and elusive I suppose but offensively offers very little

Wasserman getting worse by the show

Might have gone to this but didn't see any real promotion of it locally. Loads of people in town for the footy as well. Hope that Williamson/Kelly fight does get made.

The they should make fights thst people do care about and then promote the show.

I had been watching the Commonweslth games and put the boxing on although I wasn't that bothered - as soon as they said that Eubanks opponent (an unknown boxer) had spent his entire career at a lower weight I just changed the channel.

I agree.

Wasserman started off fine with the Udofia/Bentley but the rest has been crap.

At the moment it seems to me that at one end are the lads on ticket deals - the promoters don't do much promoting as the boxers sell tickets to friends and family whilst boxing opponents with losing records who are there to lose.

At the other end are the top boxers who are on ppv.

However, in the middle there is a massive void where promoters don't seem to want to take the risk of spending money to develop a boxer and to promote them.

How do you think they did?

The actual event was mostly empty.

A local lad said above that there was very little promotion locally

I am a boxing fan and turned the channel over after a few minutes.

I can't imagine many general sports fans would have known it was on - and if they did how many were interested enough to tune in (and how many of those actually watched the whole show)?
