Sure it still is. If I or a family member had been sexually assaulted, my first inclination would be criminal charges. Not some money play.

What about when you have finally overcome your fears or finally stopped suppressing the experience? What if you're no longer scared of the old man that was once a huge monster? What if you have confided in someone else who has finally given you confidence to come forward? If any of this happens after the statute of limitations for the criminal offence is over then the only way to get a court of law to suggest any wrongdoing is through a civil suit. Should victims just let offenders get away with it? There are more complexities to it than just money grabbing or can rich people not commit crimes or should they not be held to account?
Either way, none of us know any of the facts. Let it play out allowing us to see or hear evidence before blaming the victim or alleged offender as you should in all cases.

If I steal 10$ from you. Shouldn't I get punished for that or should folks just randomly steal 10$ from you like 5 times per day? Small amounts don't matter right?
Also perhaps these things were of the utmost importance. To keep your head clear to go on with your life and to keep your reputation untainted in order to be successful?
Let's say that you had been raped by a dozen men when you were a kid and a teenager. Is this something that you would tell everyone and something that you would want everyone to know?
If something actually happened to me, it would be known. If someone had sexually assaulted me as a teenager, I'd have a body on my record.
Ditto as a kid, if they were living, I'd take care of that. I'm kinda a take matters into my own hands kinda guy.

The main issue with this, is so much time passing that there's no evidence left.
No DNA evidence. No evidence of any kind.
So it's "You just gotta take my word for it that it happened"

It's easy to say such things but how many murders have you committed? How many have you legitimately attempted? If these numbers are zero then I will say that I do not believe you until those numbers get a bit higher... atleast to my level.
But what about people who do not have the same claimed willingness and ability to take lives as you do? Obviously they wouldn't want the world to know these things. These are private matters that change how people treat you and behave towards you.

There's a long process of independently corroborating accounts. Investigations in to historic sexual crimes are (unfortunately) relatively common.

I've been thinking about bringing a lawsuit against a former teacher of mine, for spanking me in kindergarten, 60 yrs ago, for both assault and harassment.
First off I guess I had better check to see if she is still alive first.

Human beings like any other animal will always fight over resources.
Some of them are just a little more devious about how they go about it.
So far, without any hint of evidence being presented, this amounts to little more than a cash grab.
This is very brave of George to confront this serious accusation head on in the manner in which he has done.
At the very least his name has now been tarnished.
Again, without a hint of evidence.
Unfortunately, this now might give other opportunistic women the very same idea.
If that happens, I would fear the worst for George.

Really believe if whatever amount of money there aiming for , was awarded AGAINST them if found to be lying , it would stop a lot of this overnight , not saying everyone accussed past and present is innocent , but i'm damm sure theres a lot who are ..

REAL sexual assault is a problem, and that's why people don't need to just bandy accusations about left and right with no f*cking merit to them because then you get reactions like mine.

Before you start spouting off, realize that many people have their lives and careers ruined by dishonest people with accusations like this. Real cases of sexual assault are no joke, and it goes both ways with males and females. When you talk about 30+ year bullshit? You need to just stfu, in my opinion.
