A nice fight. Maybe that's how Loma vs Lopez looked like, if the Ukrainian was hungrier there. Lomachenko lost a huge opportunity though, he would have beaten Kambo. The Haney matchup sounds hot next, but those lips are too big for Loma.

This is what happen to you when you spend your prime years to fight Nakatani, Crolla, Commey and Campbell. Lomachenko is past prime definitely. I will be very surprised if he can beat any of top 135 lbs fighters. IMO his best chance is against Davis but still will be underdog.

Loma vs Haney is fun. I can’t help but think loma has to go back to 130.

Well, if he's past it, then just a bit. He also fought Linares and Lopez, those perfomances weren't that stellar. It looks like you just overrated Lomachenko, just as many did.

Nakatani & Commey were his last two fights so how could they be his prime years? Campbell was a worthy opponent so I don't know what you're talking about. Crolla is the only cherry pick there.

That is your opinion, mine is different. :box:
Edit: i dont say it is Loma fault that he did not faced real elite years ago, but to me it seems Lomachenko is biggest waste of potential in boxing

Yeah, after Russell and Walters wins i was expecting he will be another Pacquiao/Mayweather type of star. But that was years ago, time flies

Yes, the size difference was clear.

Credit to both fighters, especially Loma for once again taking on younger, bigger more powerful opponents.

Which other elite boxer does that?

Ortiz will no doubt feel that the scorecards were a little wide against him, and he's right.

Btw Lomachenko is physicaly very strong for a guy of his size. He is able to bully bigger guys around the ring if he wants. Punching power is also underestimated. Just reflexes are not 100% anymore and that is bad for this weight. He must change his style a bit if he want defeat Haney IMO

I won't be critical of Loma, especially after coming off a long layoff, and taking on a skilled, unbeaten younger guy. I also won't make excuses about the size. It's 135, both made the weight. If you think Loma is at a disadvantage, I guess you know more than he does about his body, training, nutrition, etc? If 130 was better, he'd be there.

I look forward to Haney vs Loma, good fight. Close fight too. After that, Haney goes to 140, win or lose. I like both guys so may the best man win.

I Agree. And I think that Loma Should Really just Basically cash-out at this point. And, These 135 guys are simply too big for lil ole Loma.

Call out "Shakur Stevenson" for a "Jr LW(130)" Title bout Clash.

Regardless of how that goes, Shakur Should be Loma's Last Challenge/Opponent in Boxing.

If that bout gets made then "Possibly" we "Might" Ultimately get to see a Great Trilogy. Who can Really Know for certain.

Based on Loma's Rather Dismal performance in this bout(One with which he shouldn't have gotten anything beyond "A Gift Draw" imo) myself along with Most others would naturally have Stevenson as the betting favorite, but being that it'd be back down to 130, where Loma Really shouldn't have ever gone beyond, weight-division wise, I think that Very Possibly, Loma Could find a True Resurgence, at least on a very temporary basis.

I Could definitely see Loma Squeeking out A Very Narrow points win over Shakur, and even if it were to be ruled a Draw, then they'd Obviously and Certainly have a 2nd bout(Rematch), and then if that was a Great or Competitive Bout, then they could very well wind up setting up The Trilogy Bout, which in the Olden days of Boxing was referred to as "The Rubber-Match".

I think the biggest thing affecting Lomachenkos less than stellar by his standards performance against Ortiz was the long lay
off , it was also one of the factors for his loss to Teo Lopez.

Loma too little too old to not be in prime form against these good large light weights.

None the less this was the fight Loma needed to prepare for Haney.

Hopefully they fight in the next 6 to 7 months.

I didn't score fight with Loma vs Ortiz but it felt like a 7-5 round victory to Loma with a worst case fight being a draw 6-6 rounds.

If fight was close I don't think no way they were giving it to Ortiz.

34 isn't ancient by today's standards. He had a long layoff, and had some ring rust.

It's his 8th or 9th fight st 135, and all of a sudden he's too small? Too short maybe? Did he shrink? He's about an inch taller than Pac was. His game will improve next fight.

Probably a bit of ring rust there, but Loma was still great. It was easy to score it 117-111 even though the fight was partly reckless, but I'm confident he'll perform better against Haney.

you need to follow boxing better my man, people have been saying it for years. just go to the search and look up 'loma small' or something like that, and loads comes up from before this fight. you also have guys like shakur, lopez, garcia, tyson etc saying years ago loma would be small for 135. his own promoter said a few years ago he wants loma at 130. so basically you're full of sheeyat, yet again

loma has been looking like a kid in weigh ins vs these 135 guys for a while now

For the record, Haney is only 1" taller than Loma. Loma is an inch taller than Pac and Mikey Garcia. Height is only one tale of the tape. We as fans don't know how much they cut, their training and nutrition, etc, etc. I get sick of the weight bully argument too. If you can make the weight, you can fight at that weight.

no sh!t he can fight at the weight, doesnt mean he's not a little guy for it. this came up way before now and has been said for years, by his own promoter and other fighters. no idea why you think it's only being mentioned now.

The only way Haney can win is if he hugs and uses his size and strength. He's capable of it, but I can see him trying to make it a chess match and getting shut out. I can see the fight going like the Campbell fight. Lomachenko demolishes guys that try to box him, so it'll be interesting to see how Haney comes into the fight.
