I dont understand this move by floyd... Surely this kills his brand as the money man... noone knew this was on, sounds like noone turned up, its just bizzar.

mcgregor II, PacII , Jake paul, KSI, Nate diaz... All legit mega millions fights... Instead floyd is shifting less tickets than johny fisher.

Undoubted genius, but I’ve always found floyd thoroughly unlikeable and irritating. The way he can never just say ‘boxing’ drives me mad, it’s always ‘the sport of boxing’.

And the lower tier was no more than half full - meaning the attendance was likely under 5,000.

But Mayweather reckons the ticket-selling process was to blame for the poor turnout.

Speaking in his post-fight press conference, he said: "We did this in one month - not even four weeks.

"I think the tickets should've went on sale a lot faster.

"My new team is still learning. I have got to take my hat off to them, it's not their fault.

So putting the tickets on sale too late is why less than 5,000 turned up. Even though that venue has sold out in 3 hours for things people actually want to see

Apparently they were trying to flog £4.99 tickets hours before the event on line, and still had a 4/5ths empty stadium.
And 52,000+, have paid to view the event, which is more than I expected.

exhibitions are pretty much a money heist and british public are a bit wise to it. probably late notice so chances are was arranged for floyd just to move around for 8 rounds.

Credit to Mayweather, he's a smart man. Unlike many other old ex-boxers, he doesn't try to return to the sport and to be a punching bag for the young fighters. Instead he beats up bums in exhibitions and gathers cash from the strange people willing to pay for that.

In the days leading up to the fight, tickets were discounted as the event failed to generate the type of interest that the organizers had expected.

Mayweather explained that there were good reasons for the lower than expected turnout.

“We did this in one month - not even four weeks. I think the tickets should've went on sale a lot faster. My new team is still learning. I have got to take my hat off to them, it's not their fault. It's just when we fight in the US, as soon as we announce the fight, tickets are on sale," Mayweather said to Give Me Sport.

“Here, we announced the fight and the tickets didn't go on sale until a week or two weeks later. I don't point fingers. We work together as a team. When you buy tickets over here, you don't really want to spend money. In America we don't mind spending money.”

This would not have attracted boxing fans.

The schtick is old and worn out now. Might still work in Japan against Kickboxers, but not in the UK if you're fighting Aaron Bloody Chalmers.

If Mayweather wants a chance at a successful exhibition in the UK then someone like Amir Khan should be in the opposite corner, certainly more chance of getting people interested in that than some kickboxer or mma fighter or whatever Chalmers is who nobody has ever heard of...

Mayweather is basically saying Americans are dumb, they buy ANYTHING where as the British are careful and not stupid with money.
