Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois - WBA Mandatory
Unfortunately, I can see Dubois' eye being an issue again. Usyk's not a hard hitter at heavy, but he's accurate, and that southpaw jab will be countering over Dubois own jab repeatedly. There's always a lingering doubt with these sort of injuries whether they truly heal properly. I reckon it could be a similar stoppage/retirement to the Joyce fight
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois - WBA Mandatory
i think he'll wear dubois down around 10 and then the towel might come in if it does go 12 can see a 119-109 ud coming

I think dubois might cause him some issues early on, he's big and strong, and carries power, especially early doors. The Gratest wrote: ↑26 Mar 2023, 07:33 Unfortunately, I can see Dubois' eye being an issue again. as you say, it could end up being a bit like the eye injury that eubank suffered in the 1st thompson fight, which never fully healed and blew up like a baloon in the 2nd pretty quickly.
reminds me, I must watch those fights again, what a tear up they both were, Eubanks finest moments in some ways for me, even in losing, showed the best of himself, raw and totally endless courage.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois - WBA Mandatory
It takes at least 6 months to recover from an ACL injury so Dubois wouldn't be training yet if that injury actually happened. If he was/is injured, they would probably try and prolong the discussions to make the fight in August/September. Alternatively, the WBA could go to Bakole who's ranked next. Maybe Billy knew all along and this was the big fight in the summer he suspected would happen?

Depends on the ACL injury and the repair method.joshj909 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2023, 03:45It takes at least 6 months to recover from an ACL injury so Dubois wouldn't be training yet if that injury actually happened. You can tweak it and be back in a week....
You can snap it and be back in a year...
And somehow in rugby you can snap it and be back playing 80 mins in about 6 months, and thats pushhhing it with good rehab.

If DDD wins, will Fury play hardball in negotiations?

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois - WBA Mandatory
Looking likely London or Manchester
"The closest opportunity for Usyk is the WBA mandatory so it's Daniel Dubois," Krassyuk said to Sky Sports.
"Yesterday I had a meeting with George Warren to discuss what we're going to do and what we're able to do. We're now working out opportunities and London or Manchester are one of the options we're working on. Maybe if we can find a solution we can make it in the UK."
"You face the other contradiction in the champion himself, the team considers him RTG - random thought generator," Krassyuk said.
"It means he comes up with retirement, then he comes up with 20 fights a year, then he comes up with fighting for no money, donating everything, and then he comes back. It looks a bit awkward and a bit random."

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois - WBA Mandatory
Usyk needs to wait till april 15th....
If joyce gets an easy win, then i think Usyk should try fight joyce in june/july.
DDD isnt ready and the world knows it so it devalues the fight. mabey put DDD vs dempsy mckean or otto wallin on the undercard (or a show on around the same time)... if he smashes one of them up you can sell the usyk fight mroe.
As for hrg.... I guess the IBf are pretty strict so you can fvck him off forever, but surely he also needs one or 2 more.

Dubois will get done over next time he fights someone decent. He's big and strong but very limited mentally

People keep questioning his mental stregnth....Im not saying he is some iceman like Usyk, or some killer like Mike tyson... But he is no Bogdan Dinu....jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 18:22 Dubois will get done over next time he fights someone decent. He's big and strong but very limited mentally
-he went from 4 rounders to 10 rounders in his 4th fight (as a teenager without good senior amature experence).
-on his 10th-ish fight as a 21 year old he took a live fight for the brittish (bookies had it 65-35 odds).
-at 23 he fights joe fVcking joyce for no world title... could of easily ducked that, takes it, gives joe his toughest fight in the pros and rightfuly quits when he cant see out of his lead eye and has fractures in his face against one of the scaries heavyweights ever to have to fight round 10-11-12 blind.... (should of been stopped by the DR or his corner, its a shame he had to make the decision but it was the right one).
-Last fight he got knocked down 3 times, injured his knee, easily could of stayed down or got his corner to pull him out and blame his knee, instead kept going and won by KO...

I agree Dubois isn’t ready but he’s interim champ and the WBA are next in-line. He either takes the fight or he’ll lose his position and could be waiting another couple of years.gregregegg wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 17:48 Usyk needs to wait till april 15th....

I think given how his last fight went, they may look at this as a shot to nothing. He’ll be well paid and may land a big one. If he steps aside then he could also lose against anyone in the top 20.

I think that's bang on. I think dubois is an accident waiting to happen, he could easily lose again and lose his status. Get him in with usyk now

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois - WBA Mandatory
Still seems an odd fight to take, if this is a genuine effort.
As we’ve seen: sending him to the boondocks into the clutches of Don King, you can pick up an easy world title or 2 pretty much anywhere these days.
And he’s still an exciting heavyweight talent, there’s no way Frank wants to be cashing in his chips just yet - I mean Joshua couldn’t do it over 24 rounds, so what does DD bring to the table that Joshua hasn’t already tried here?
There’s questions over Daniels chin, but you can say that hasn’t been proven at all: the last whacko fight looks like it was an injury rather than a chin problem; and going down against robo monster Joe, with a smashed eye-socket, is no sign of weakness at all.
he probably stands a better chance against Wilder than Usyk, or any other heavy bar Fury, who seems to be retired anyway and ready for a bit of rassling.

It’s still way too early to write Dubois off. He showed a hell of a lot in that Joyce fight.

Danny D Bwar has nae chin
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois - WBA Mandatory
Wilder has hilariously been moved to WBA #1, leapfrogging Bakole, who moves down to #2. Are they going to make Wilder mandatory instead somehow? Will he pick up the WBA Regular belt after Dubois loses? It will have 100% been tactical by the WBA but we are yet to find out why.

I think they have moved wilder to number 1 incase DDD dosent want it. That way they can get sanctioning fees on wilder vs Usyk instead of Bakolie vs Usyk...
