I'd say more people in the UK know who Usyk is than Joyce, Parker and Dubois.

Yeah but one can argue that is strictly because of all the drama that Tyson Fury started. Even with Usyk beating Joshua twice most people care to see Joshua more against Fury, even though that fight should have happened 3 or 4 years ago.

If Fury faces Joshua and beats him, it will be bigger the 3 mandatories Usyk will have. I think by that point the public opinion will drift back to Fury. Only the hardcore fans will hold on to the grudges. Whether we like it or not it is the casual fan base that will drive the most money.

And of course all the controversy will only make the hardcore fans pay out the big dollars once the undisputed fight ever is made, provided Usyk doesn't lose along the way. What would have been a $75 pay per view may end up being $100 by that time.

Usyk may be the biggest threat in the division and the most skilled, but he's not a star. Matter of fact one might make an argument that his inclusion to the division has only made Fury-Joshua, Wilder-Joshua, etc harder to make because it's one more roadblock to get passed.

Nobody in Boxing is a Star.

If Fury fights AJ and then Usyk, I really wouldn't have an issue with that.

I suspect he'll duck Usyk until he hears of him sustaining another injury of some sort then he'll feel safe enough to take him on I guess.

Usyk has defeated AJ twice. He has been undisputed Cruiser champ. He is an acknowledged current P4P top 5. He is well known around the globe, especially in places where boxing still “draws flies.” The fact that he is Ukrainian just adds to that fame.

There is no excuse for this fight not happening, but that won’t stop wrong ones like you from making up ignorant .

It's just an unfortunate fact of business that someone like Jake Paul can be a bigger draw than the likes of Artur Beterbiev, Dmitry Bivol and even Oleksandr Usyk.

We have to remember that boxing is primarily a business first and the formalities of any sporting element are a very distant second.

In fact they are sometimes a major inconvenience to the business of making money.

Sadly this is a business where the most talented of boxers can often pass through and hardly make a dent or a cent, whilst loud mouthed crafty clowns can bask in a life of luxury.

To get the devil's money in the devil's own backyard, you are compelled to break bread with and sign for the devil. That's the way of the world, and it's not changing anytime soon.

Fury himself learned that fairly early on. Anyone else remember his comments about the global banks secretly running the world?


Usyk may not be the biggest draw in HW boxing, there's at least 3 names bigger, but he does have the belts.

So if any money to burn Saudis want it bad enough then it will happen later this year, maybe in Jeddah.

It could still possibly happen in London, but clearly the US has no taste for any big fight that doesn't feature a US boxer.

Publicly the United States of America has always been a very insular nation, despite secretly having it's fingers in every pie all over the globe.

Anyway, it would be interesting to see Tyson Fury go 12 rounds in the same sweaty conditions at the same pace that Joshua and Usyk did.

It will be interesting (for some) to see where Ngannou fits into the picture. I don't think Fury can face him for the 'baddest man on the planet' until he deals with Usyk first. You can call it 'Champ vs Champ' but that doesn't sound as appealing.

The stars of the fight are equal to the stars of the lowest boxer involved in the fight. It just means that Zhang and Franklin are fairly low ranked.

So Brandon Lee vs Pedro Campa is a four star fight but Joshua vs Franklin is a two star b/c the 140 lb division is deeper than HW. That works I guess so long as Franklin and Zhang don't pull off the upset. Because if Zhang upsets Joyce, then that would clearly be a significant outcome.

Yep. Only the top 15 are over 3* at heavyweight whereas the top 53 are over 3* at super lightweight.
