I think it probably sounds bigger than it is. Unless they end up with shows on linear NBC channels or promoting shows in the US then I’d be amazed if the shows find much of an audience.

Re: Joshua Buatsi vs. Dan Azeez | Sky Sports - 21 October 2023
First time I saw Buatsi I thought he was the best prospect I'd seen out of the UK in a long time. He has great balance. The full array of punches. Seemed to have the right combination of attack and defence.
But his career has really gone sideways for what seems an age. And this is a fight he should be beyond at this stage in is career.
Love everything Azeez brings to the sport. And will be cheering him on.

Inactivity and having a low profile will do that, Buatsi has become the invisible man and unless he beats Azeez clearly where can he go ?Ezzard wrote: ↑16 Oct 2023, 11:13 First time I saw Buatsi I thought he was the best prospect I'd seen out of the UK in a long time. This has just been postponed, Azeez has a back injury
https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/1 ... ng-session
"Joshua Buatsi's British battle with Dan Azeez this weekend has been postponed after Azeez suffered a back injury in his final training session.
Buatsi had been set to face Azeez in a crucial light-heavyweight clash at The O2 on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports, but doctors have ruled that Azeez is unable to fight due to a trapped nerve in his back.
Further details on Saturday's event, including ticket information, and a revised date for Buatsi-Azeez will be communicated shortly."

FFS......
Come on - how much training are you doing 3 days out?
Slow ticket sales?
Someone offered Azeez a better deal?
Maybe I am just looking for something because I was really looking forward to this!

Hopefully Hearn offered him more money to fight Bivol and told him pull out at the last minute to let Shalom have a taste of his own medicine.
Wishful thinking i know

Shame it’s not happening. First fight on normal Sky I’ve been looking forward to watching.Frostieballs wrote: ↑17 Oct 2023, 11:12 FFS......

Shalom’s like every other promoter in that he seems to blatantly lie about things. He’s said they’ve done over 10,000 tickets yet the top tier isn’t open and there are many thousand tickets on the bottom tier still available. Dozens of full rows still for sale and given the sporting competition on Saturday night (Rugby semi final, 2 premier league games, an excellent UFC show on TNT in Abu Dhabi - perfect time for the U.K. and the Matchroom show) they’d struggle to even give away tickets for free at this stage.
They should try and keep the undercard together. If not it will mean we’d get 1 U.K. show in 4 1/2 months on regular Sky sports and that was headlined by Caroline Dubois.

Never made sense with Chelsea/Arsenal 5:30 then Man U at 8pm… on there platform!! Plus a World Cup rugby semi final for England on free to air
Thought clashing with other promoters shows was crazy but clashing with your own stuff to me is madness…
Injury or not, and there’s no reason to doubt it, it will work out better for Sky…

Re: Joshua Buatsi vs. Dan Azeez | Sky Sports - 21 October 2023
I was just looking at next week's TV Guide for Saturday and Rugby on ITV, Man U on SKY so the viewing figures for this fight would have been minuscule.
Another nail in the coffin for boxing on SKY, when is the next scheduled show on there ?

Something like November 18th for the Azim European title fight show.
Re: Joshua Buatsi vs. Dan Azeez | Sky Sports - 21 October 2023
I just looked, and that isn't a decent card. Maybe they can save Saturday's show and have Kariss Artingsall top the bill ?maverick23 wrote: ↑17 Oct 2023, 15:17Something like November 18th for the Azim European title fight show.

Is the rest of the card going ahead?
Re: Joshua Buatsi vs. Dan Azeez | Sky Sports - 21 October 2023
Is football even that popular nowadays?
I honestly think it'll be finished within 50 years as some big spectacle.
It's definitely in decline, kids on the whole have so many other distractions nowadays, my lad plays but he's in a big minority in his class .
When I was a lad everyone played, jumpers for goalposts.
Just don't see that anymore.

Good news if true. Chamberlain v Lawal is good enough to headline even if a few refunds will be given.
