charlo with his size and at age 33 making weight for 154 and rehydrating at least 20 pounds over night to now fighting at a much more natural for him 168 is just 14 pounds more, not even his full rehydration. he will still have to make a bit of weight and come in the ring fully rehydrated at around 180.

I think his days at 154 were over before the lottery call came.
Little Charlo isn't going back to 154 no matter what happens with Canelo.

Already unified one division, gets a chance at a second against the guy who brings the biggest payday with him and that guy is clearly on the downside.

This bout versus "Jermell Charlo" will actually be a good solid bout when all is said and done. It's overall a fairly even enough boxing bout. Canelo will either get a fairly close Points Win, or A Gift Draw, if Jermell has his number, and looks like he edged it. After this bout, Honestly, I'd Love to see The Winner of Crawford-Spence Call Out Canelo.

Like I stated, with the Obvious Realities. Canelo being 5'8 and basically being on the down-slide portion of his businessman orientated boxing carear,..Craw or Spence taking on the Little Red Muscleman would have no real true size advantage disparity involved. Reach is size as much as any other form of size, and "Craw" (Whom I'm picking vs Spence) would have 4 inches of reach over The Little Red Businessman Muscleman Boxer "Canelo Alvarez".
So, Substantial Reach, as well as a slight advantage "Still Yet"/"Yet Still" in speed, for Craw, even with the Extra-Weight on his Frame.

same experts that want '5'7" and a smudge canelo'(who's clearly and naturally out of his depth against the top 175'ers) give it a go for a cruiser belt, are thinking 6' walking around at 175, charlo stepping up a measly 14 pound/ 6kg's to 168 is a mismatch.

canelo is the quite a bit shorter, stockier dude, but he won't be much heavier, if at all come fight night. u like it or not. charlo is still the naturally a tad bigger guy. where is the mismatch ffs?

Canelo should also fight Haney- who is an undisputed champion too.

Lopez is the man at 140 lbs , so he'd be a good fight for Canelo too.

Jermell Charlo to be stripped of WBO title after fight with Canelo Alvarez, Tim Tszyu will be elevated

Jermell Charlo will be stripped of his WBO junior middleweight title, meaning his days as undisputed champion at 154 lbs are over — or, at least, they soon will be.

The WBO have ruled that Charlo “will be allowed to enter the ring as WBO champion and announced as such” for his fight with Canelo Alvarez on Sept. 30, which will take place at 168 lbs for Canelo’s undisputed title, and upon that official announcement that he does still hold the belt, he will be immediately stripped, with Tim Tszyu elevated from interim champion to full champion status.

This is sort of what we expected when Canelo vs Charlo was announced, that the sanctioning bodies would play ball with PBC and Showtime marketing “Undisputed vs Undisputed,” and then when it was over, Charlo would either be stripped of or vacate at least one or some of his junior middleweight belts in order to keep the fight’s marketing intact, but having it officially spelled out as exactly that in very drawn-out, legal terms is kind of funny, at least.

It also needs to be noted that if Canelo vs Charlo doesn’t take place on Sept. 30 — “for whatever reasons” — the WBO are still going to strip Charlo and Tszyu will be elevated to full title status.

So for all it matters, for all intents and purposes, Tim Tszyu is officially your WBO junior middleweight titleholder now. But not officially so until Sept. 30, or any time ahead of that if the Canelo vs Charlo bout is canceled or postponed.

You’ll recall that Charlo and Tszyu were meant to fight early this year, with the bout scrapped. Tszyu has been the WBO’s mandatory challenger for years at this point, and has held the interim belt since beating Tony Harrison on Mar. 12, following that up with a June 18 wipeout win over Carlos Ocampo, a defense of the interim belt.

Tszyu recently stated that Charlo should be stripped, and he’s basically getting his wish, and it’s the right decision.

No word yet on what the other sanctioning bodies will do, but since the Tszyu issue has been very public, the WBO probably felt the need to comment publicly. The other three — the WBC, WBA, and IBF — may simply wait until after the Canelo vs Charlo fight to see if Charlo would rather vacate than be stripped.

Charlo has not defended any of his titles or fought at all since beating Brian Castano in May 2022, which fully unified the 154 lb division.

Here are two great press release quotes that may potentially have actually been said by either fighter:

“I’m very happy that we got to make a fight of this magnitude between two undisputed champions,” said Canelo. “Jermell Charlo has also faced the best in his division, and I’m glad that the fans are going to enjoy a world class fight between us.”

“I’m really excited to make history once again,” said Charlo. “This is the biggest fight in boxing and I’m coming to leave it all in the ring like I do every time. I manifested this fight into existence and earned it with everything I’ve done in this sport so far. Canelo is a great fighter, but he’s gonna see what ‘Lions Only’ is all about. When the fight’s over, people are gonna have to recognize that I’m the best fighter in the sport.”

Canelo last fought on May 6 in Mexico, beating John Ryder by decision. Charlo was last seen in the ring in May 2022, winning a rematch against Brian Castano via 10th round stoppage.

Having captured world titles at 154, 160, 168 and 175-pounds, Canelo (59-2-2, 39 KOs) will enter the ring for yet another super fight as he looks to become the first man during the four-belt era to defend all four titles successfully three consecutive times. The fighting pride of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Canelo became undisputed at super middleweight in November 2021 by taking the IBF belt from then unbeaten Caleb Plant via an eleventth-round TKO. Houston’s Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) unified the junior middleweight titles in emphatic fashion his last time out, knocking out Brian Castaño in round 10 of their May 2022 rematch, after they fought to a draw in a July 2021 slugfest. The 33-year-old became a unified champion in September 2020, dropping Jeison Rosario three times on his way to an eighth-round knockout that earned him the WBA and IBF titles. Before that fight, Charlo had avenged the only loss of his career as he reclaimed his WBC belt via an eleventh-round knockout of Tony Harrison in one of 2019’s best fights.

Charlo is trained by 2022 BWAA “Trainer of the Year” Derrick James in Dallas and won his first world title in his debut fight with James by scoring an eighth-round knockout of John Jackson in 2016. He followed up that victory with three successful defenses, knocking out Erickson Lubin and Charles Hatley, and winning a decision over former world champion Austin Trout. Charlo and his twin brother and two-division champion Jermall, who fight under their Lions Only banner, made history in 2016, becoming the first twins in boxing history to simultaneously hold world championships in the same weight class.

Yes, but Jermell is the naturally bigger guy. Jermell has almost all the physical advantages. Its a closer fight than it looks on paper.
