The people watching at home will save the PPV fee but the people with tickets must be unimpressed. I would be seeking a refund for sure.

I'm a having a few quid on Helenius winning by stoppage, currently 12/1 or round group betting rounds 1-6 at 25/1 , rounds 7-12 at 33/1

Obviously getting opponents in for fights of this level at a week/10 days notice is nigh on impossible.
Ultimately Helenius was training for a fight tho and it’s now not PPV and I was looking forward to a fair bit of the undercard with how I like the heavyweights so fair enough.
Hopefully no more Whyte v AJ ever again now.

I'm more hyped for this than Whyte. Could be interesting if Helenius starts with purpose. And a kayo is highly likely one way or another.
Am I mad?

I think it's worth a gamble at those odds.

The word on the street is Helenius does thump like a train, but you look at the Whyte fight which was years ago and obviously being poleaxed by Wilder. I just can't see past a highlight reel KO win for AJ.

The Whyte fight was bizarre. He seemed to have Dillian completely sussed for a couple of rounds, timing him like a dream, then stopped trying like there was a script he'd forgotten.

I was told that Helenius was carrying an injury for the white fight.

I agree. Helenius can be a real handful and I think he'll start out the same way he did against Kownacki. Straight punches with intent.

I heard similar, he only had a couple of weeks to train and so was in survival mode after about round 3.

I know it sounds like another excuse, but he was carrying a big injury for the Chisora fight. I think it was his shoulder if memory serves and he had surgery soon after.

Pleased with this replacement, better than Whyte and not ppv. Good to hear Hearn on bunces podcast saying chisora was never in the frame for it. The cynic in me, and I suspect a few others, felt that was where it was all heading. Fair play to MR for sorting

What I would like to see is AJ destroy Hellenius inside 2 rounds. Basically knock the hell out of him mid way through the first and get Helenius out for the second with a spectacular ko inside the first minute.
That's what I'm hoping to see.
I suspect however it will be a laboured effort from AJ with a stoppage mid fight.
I think we have certainly seen the best from AJ and this hand picked opponent shows that, but saying that who else is there to fight at short notice?
That would be a pretty bad performance given how Hellenius has looked in terms of his chin recently. Joshua should KO him within 3 rounds I would say. If it goes to mid rounds, then its not a good night.
Need to see a decent outing here. This needs to be quick and clinical

Is it not better for AJ to get some competitive rounds?

Not sure I agree with that. Joshua needs to show he's still relevant. The only way he can achieve that is by a effing big ko

They’ll be a bit nervous about Helenius, he usually comes to fight and starts fast, and Joshua is obviously a bit gun shy these days, so if he lands early things might get interesting..

Joshua's career will only be defined by this fight if he loses it. If he wins, even a tight decision, it won't matter. No one will remember this fight unless AJ loses or he scores a highlight reel knockout. They will remember the next one if it's Wilder. It's like Lennox Lewis against Justin Fortune, Holyfield vs Seamus McDonagh or Larry Holmes vs Bigfoot Martin. The style of the win doesn't matter, it's the W that counts.

He got the rounds in against Franklin and was criticised for his hesitancy and looking gunshy. This is one where he should, and needs, to make a statement. Let his hands go, look for the stoppage.

The first clean shots Joshua lands and Helenius is falling over.
It’s a nonsense fight, Helenius is basically being paid an appearance fee.

He doesn't
need to make a statement. It would be nice if he did, but it's not essential. If he give an OK performance, it won't hinder his chances of landing Wilder.

No. I need a statement, and I need it now!
Well not right now, Saturday night would be nice though.

The Mrs is away, so me and the dog will be watching. I just hope it's an entertaining fight. I have a feeling that Chisora will chop Washington down really quickly. Hrgovic vs McKeen could be the fight of the night, but then again it could be the worst.

Do you think there is any danger of AJ trying to match Wilder, running straight in for a quick KO and then getting smacked himself? I could see it.

It could definitely happen. I think he needs to gun for a 1st or 2nd round KO of Helenius, but even so he need be in no rush about it.
He needs to just take his time, pick his spot and land the bomb. Helenius will give him the opening within 6 minutes, so there's no need to rush and potentially walk into something.
Helenius may be fragile, but he can legitimately crack, and AJ isn't exactly made of granite himself.
