Come on, Lee, give us some examples!

On a separate note, my complaint is people waffling about the rules of boxing without actually knowing the rules or bothering to look them up. For example, the whole Usyk-Dubois thing on how to define a low blow.
What? A contemporary example?
Any example!
Awwwww bless you

I agree with so many of the points here.
The number of sanctioning bodies
The number of belts
The number of weight divisions (to a lesser extent)
The importance of being undefeated
Social media ‘stars’ getting obscene paydays
PED users are not punished nearly enough

Everything is obviously driven by money and it won’t change until the sport is driven to the depths because of it. Boxing will eat itself and then start again, or maybe just fade away.

One champion per division and champions to defend every x months will solve a lot of the problems (or at least be a decent start).
Fighters will step up to win a belt.
The ‘0’ will become irrelevant.
Non-belt holders will fight worthy opponent to remain relevant.

Banish anyone testing positive and let them fight their own kind in a separate discipline

At the moment the sport is spiralling downwards

If not .. give the example you were referring to, and one of us here will explain it to you in an easy to understand manner.

I believe that olij999 understands the joke.
You clearly do not so would be unlikely to explain much to me.
I really try not to get drawn in to pointless shit with strangers on the internet, not always successfully, so whatever it is you are hoping to achieve or ‘win’, consider it done.

Not trying to achieve or win anything. I merely didn't understand your cryptic 'joke'. I genuinely thought you didn't know what 'contemporary' meant.

But there we have it.

Actually, Lee, I genuinely didn't understand the joke, which is why I was asking for an example! But it's been a long week, so I may well have been missing something obvious. Have a good weekend, everyone!

There clearly wasn`t a `joke` ... just a classic Jay from Inbetweeners response of "it was a joke" when they`ve been caught out.

Corruption.
PEDs.
Poor officiating.

Could say that about any sport. I’m sure the big fans do.

Best don’t fight the best.

Can’t say that about any team sport.
Can’t say that about boxing in 2023.

Mine is the division. The hatred for casuals, the old school/new school debates and YES too many belts.

As I said in another thread the footballification is doing my head in but does seem to boost atmospheres. Don’t like the half and half crowds, tho

I like the weights as they are, too.

Its the promoters fault simple has that , if the promoter refuses to put Young Hatton on UNLESS he fights a 50-50 , young Hatton does'nt stink the place out unless he fronts his own money and promotes himself easy fix but will not happen
I partly agree that the promoter is at fault but the broadcaster should also take some of the blame as well. They do have a say in the fights they are buying and who they choose to feature live on the undercard so I blame them as well

The WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO are the contemporary 4 that - at this time (contemporary) - that are the credible/recognized world champions.

There are a load other world champion boxing belts out there (IBO, WBF, WBU, etc) that some boxers hold that have little to no value or recognition; who is to say that next year (not contemporary) someone may claim they need to be included. So, lets stick to the contemporary 4 :TU:

Lee. It was you who accused someone of wanting to drag you into an argument to 'achieve or win something' when they didn't understand your 'joke'.

Well you have since clarified in fact it was you trying to 'achieve or win something' by posting your 'joke' (which clearly wasn't a joke) because YOU didn't understand what 'contemporary' meant.

Imo this is because the BBBOC are still stuck in the 70's and have not progressed to move forward like the rest of the world. They are the third world of the sporting community imo. They are firmly stuck in a time warp treading water. Unfortunately, the licence holders have just Allowed it to happen.

I am not counting the forum years … I started doing odd jobs for the then “Frank Maloney” prior to the Julius Francis v Mike Tyson fight in Jan 2000 then snowballed from there.

I am not sure when I started on britboxing.com I think I started on them in Feb 2000.

Nope, you misused it repeatedly then spoke to me like you are my superior. I do not feel that you are but I also don’t care when anonymous forum posters do this kind of thing, I just click ignore and go about my day.

Apologies if it came across as me being your superior; I don't consider myself to be anyones superior .. I know my low limits well enough to be certain of never thinking that.

However, you may want to go back and reread all you've posted from your 'joke' comment;
Why do people use words when they don’t know what they mean?
Did you forget to add the punchline?
Because I still not seeing the humour.
