I am disappointed that the BBBoC officiated and and that it was recorded as a pro contest, which I believe was not the original intention.
I don’t know that it damages boxing exactly but it certainly adds to the confusion for the general public who think that KSI is a professional etc

I've no idea, I don't know if the Misfits are rubbish just fighting people who are a bit rubbish or not boxers, or they have some talent. I don't think we'll ever know unless they start fighting proper boxers. I imagine training full time etc, access to best of everything, would give them a big advantage a la Benn/Eubank Jrs. But it's only my speculation.

It wasn’t a great look but there is a difference between a YouTuber and a world champion HW MMA fighter. Even though Ngannou hadn’t had any boxing experience he is a fighter and used to being hit. Add to that he is physically huge, over 19 stone and stronger than most HW boxers. Plus he can punch very hard by all accounts. What they weren’t banking on is Ngannou having any boxing ability. Fury couldn’t physically dominate him either like he often does, Ngannou was stronger than him so the leaning and pushing had little affect. Based on
his showing Ngannou would give lots a HWs a hard night.

The last week has proved “cross over”, “youtube” “white collar” boxing and are going to have a prominent and viable part in the future of boxing.
Whether you like it or not boxing promoters, tv executives dont give a flying f*ck what your bleatings are … why?? …. KSI & Tommy Fury and Tyson Fury & Ngannou have done record numbers and made everyone imvolved serious money.
What does the BBBofC do about it … they f*cking sanction a fight between The Heavyweight Champion Of the World & a debutant … but a promoter who was willing to take a risk comes out of it smelling of roses and piles of cash … i disagreed with the fight but with the benefit of hindsight I have been proven wrong, and I moving with the times.
And what does professional boxing do about it …f*ck all.
Continued refusal to make undercard fights entertaining.
Continues to allow drugs cheats to get away wilth it.
Cotinues to do the same old thing with regards to entertainment at shows.
Refusal of governing bodies to enforce champions fight competitive and mandatory fights.
Mean while those prepared to put on “cross over” and youtube fights are full steam ahead on the train to success where professional boxing have

I think I assumed that whoever was funding this event was losing money.

Didn't damage Boxing at all. On the contrary. It gave Boxing a new Heavyweight contender, and another potential big fight that the general public would be interested in.
People will want to see Ngannou box again, and it'll be money when he does. So Boxing got a new big name attraction added to the sport, that everyone, even the hardcore fans that were skeptical going in, will take seriously going forward.

I suspect Ngganou has peaked in first boxing match and will lose every professional boxing fight he has going forward, unless he actually takes some easy marking time fights. I’d think most high level boxers will stop him as Fury seems to have no power now.

Spot on imo, Spud. The board is not fit for purpose. I think the board have two problems. 1/ they are not business people.they do not understand or know how to adapt in an ever changing world. 2/there is no consistency in their decision making and they do not seem to have the ability to listen to their licence holders. this is just my opinion

Agree with both Mutley and Spud there. I think we can say its a given that the fighters made serious money, but we do not know the TNT PPV buy rate. I don't know a single person who bought it.
What I will say though is I don't know if it was thanks to Team Fury or always the intention - but the non PPV coverage in the UK was shite. It was deemed to be exclusively on Talk Sport - all Talk Sport listeners got was Spencer Oliver and Johnny Fisher talking over a turned down TV (with talking over being the correct word) - you couldn't even hear the ring entrance / buffer. I did not read it was on 5 Live.
Whilst I agree with your points Spud, numbers might be good with Youtube / Crossover - it is not the same sport and its not the same demographic. I personally shift a lot of the blame on the promoters / TV (and I will say especially DAZN, Wasserman and Matchroom - in that order of blame) for going where the cash is. It is really like a boxing promoter going to a live football game and going "OMG 40K everyweek - I am going to start promoting Man Utd".
I know the saying is - "if you want Loyalty get a dog" (said by a boxing promoter) but the likes of Wasserman investing both time and money on the misfits is harming the sport IMO. Essentially "proper" boxing is competing with these misfits crap for air time and press coverage - fight dates and all that.
At least allegedly said after the Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury fight he was done with promoting Fury - even though that should have earned him a good money.

Fighters will always go where the money is, it’s called prize fighting for a reason. If the internet, PPV and social media was around 30-100 years ago then 100% fighters like Ali would’ve been having these huge PPV fights too. Ali was close to fighting basketball star Wilt Chamberlain in 1971
