Re: Tony Sibson and Alan Minter
Sibson was a hell of a fighter. So strong from his days working on building sites. His biography (Sibbo) is superb, can´t recommend it enough. Tony had problems with confidence, weight and really wasn´t that enamoured with the professional side of boxing. His wins over Minter, Collins, Dwight Davison, Louis Acaries(a month after being koed by Don Lee and in France!), Frankie Lucas, Chisando Mutti (almost won the Cruiserweight World title),Mark Kaylor and a slew of EBU defences over good opposition.
On his best day Sibbo would be World champion with ease, in todays boxing he would have fewer problems with weight or go straight to Super-middleweight. He´d crushed Murray Sutherland or Chong Pal Park with ease for the IBF crown. Different times though.

Re: Tony Sibson and Alan Minter
I remember a newspaper interview with Sibbo after he’d beat Davidson in a world title eliminator, and he’s sitting there with a cup of tea saying he’s too shy to get a girlfriend yet and he’s happy with a nice cup of tea anyway
There’s a biography on Minter, you can get on eBay. I remember reading it back in the day, I can’t vouch that it’s any good or not, but I did pick it up at a book show recently, for old times sake - great photos, not read it yet again yet….
