yes its all totally fabulously amazing what he is doing with the saudi $$$$$$Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑07 Jan 2025, 09:23Yh, what's so awful about him?JamesPhilips wrote: ↑07 Jan 2025, 09:22He hasn’t ripped anyone off to my knowledge, in fact he’s over paid themJeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑06 Jan 2025, 20:57 Hes most likely an awful human being but gets fights done
So new don king?
Canelo vs Bud is definitely the biggest fight Crawford could possibly find himself in, and it's one of the bigger ones for Canelo as well, and another chance for him to get a win over a P4P top talent.klitoris wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 21:43 What's good about Turki is that he is a boxing fan. He's not some dumb Saudi guy throwing money at the sport; he actually thinks this shit through and picks fights that make sense, picks fights that are for legacy not necessarily the biggest money maker fights.
Only fight that he is pushing that I don't really agree about is probably the Canelo-Bud fight. I think Bud is an ATG fighter. I'd rather the guy keep fighting guys at 154 and unifying the division instead of fighting Canelo a fighter the size he has no business of fighting imo. But I understand why Bud would want to do that fight. If he beats Canelo he's greater than Floyd.
Definitely was my thinking too. He could have easily added to his legacy with some it even one belt fight at 160. But if it's Canelo next, then I'm absolutely fine with thatgilgamesh wrote: ↑13 Jan 2025, 14:16Canelo vs Bud is definitely the biggest fight Crawford could possibly find himself in, and it's one of the bigger ones for Canelo as well, and another chance for him to get a win over a P4P top talent.klitoris wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 21:43 What's good about Turki is that he is a boxing fan. I like that fight a lot. I'm also a little surprised Crawford didn't go for some belts at 160 first as those seem ripe for the picking at the moment.
This is like the way people were talking about Canelo before he lost to Bivol. The reason guys don't just pick up the belts in adjacent weight classes is that they don't compete at that weight yet. Changing your fighting weight comes with a fairly significant risk of diminishing returns.gilgamesh wrote: ↑13 Jan 2025, 14:16Canelo vs Bud is definitely the biggest fight Crawford could possibly find himself in, and it's one of the bigger ones for Canelo as well, and another chance for him to get a win over a P4P top talent.klitoris wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 21:43 What's good about Turki is that he is a boxing fan. Not using his money , he's using his countrys money , he did say however he has invested his own money into the ring magazine , but by and large its just his countrys money , there buying a new image , and if it fails with boxing, they will go to Tennis , or Tiddlywinks , Regards the Excellency , human nature says one of the royal familly will get sick of him being refered to has a royal , then he'll go missingdempseyfire wrote: ↑13 Jan 2025, 17:26 Has he been good for the sport in terms of using his money to make big fights happen? Yes.
Is he a part of an absolutely appalling authoritatian regime that is a human rights disaster? Also yes. I just hate how the fighters all have to call him by his title and kiss his ass. He's basically a big boxing fan with an unlimited bankroll to make fights happen, and yes that is dirty money he's playing with.

Would love to see him pump some money in at the lower levles. but i guess people dont forgive your human rights violations for a nice english title fight....![]()
Piling money only at the pointy end of a declining sport full of already overpaid fighters, whilst giving nothing to the grass roots is actually worse for the sport.
Purses need to be adjusted for the real money in the sport, which is a lot less this decade than it was in the last one. Artificially propping up a sport with zero investment in the development is a short term buzz, and a long term fail.
Saudis are fickle, once they move onto the next thing, boxing will have to under go a major scaling down.
i think he has a massive ego and boxing is his way of stroking it. i saw a vid he put out on his social media of a camera crew following him around as he walked through new york city and at one point it said something like 'the king is here' (not exact wording but you get it), instead of anything about the fightersgregregegg wrote: ↑21 Feb 2026, 22:03 Do people believe turki is actualy a boxing fan? Because every time I’m watching a fight I just see him talking to people not even watching in the background.
