. The whole racial overtone felt unnecessary, for me the piece would stand on its own merit as a documentary about the rivalries without having that agenda thrust upon the viewer. Nelson is ultimately more qualified than I to comment on the boxing scene of the early 90’s but I don’t recall there being this tension in the sport at that time.
I watched the first episode - and I agree with what's been said here; it's just nonsense, and Nelson just narrating the racism angle for added effect.

Just watching this. Weird series. Good footage. But they don’t mention Tim Witherspoon, and Mendy said Benn had no amateur career of note yet he won the ABA Title by blasting people out spectacularly. Also they don’t show that DeWitt dropped Benn, which is an odd omission.

One thing though…..Eubank was some character and a huge name at the time

I think Benn had done a bit in the army, no great standard, nothing in the schoolboys, then had a couple of seasons in the seniors.
Think he lost to Rod Douglas in the NE Divs, then the year after beat Douglas in a great fight and went on to win the ABAs that year.
Eubank did little in the ams, won a regional golden gloves I think
