Re: Fabio Wardley - Could he? is it possible?

i fractured a vertebrae a few years ago and was able to do a 5k a week later (before finally getting the painful niggle x-rayed/MRI'ed and realising what I'd done). wouldn't have been able to box for at least 6 months.
How will it ? the only way Wardley would beat Usyk is if he does something better on the night.
I mean it ain't his fault that the British Boxing Board of Control hires sh*t referees. The bad thing is people complain about Howard Foster, but is there a referee in the U.K. with a reputation for being a particularly excellent ref?
Only when it comes to stopping the away fighter.gilgamesh wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025, 13:35I mean it ain't his fault that the British Boxing Board of Control hires sh*t referees. Seems to me stopping fights early is a common trait in the U.K. and has been for many years.
Not really, and the lot before, O'Connor, John Keane, IJL, Dave Parris, Larry McConnell weren't any better.gilgamesh wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025, 13:35I mean it ain't his fault that the British Boxing Board of Control hires sh*t referees. Yeah Nathan Cleverly and Josh Warrington are two that spring immediately to mind where you wonder what the ref would have done had it been the other fighter on Queer Street.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025, 13:51Only when it comes to stopping the away fighter.gilgamesh wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025, 13:35I mean it ain't his fault that the British Boxing Board of Control hires sh*t referees. Couldn’t really imagine Terry O’Connor carrying Kovalev back to his corner against Cleverly somehowjameswilson wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025, 16:49Yeah Nathan Cleverly and Josh Warrington are two that spring immediately to mind where you wonder what the ref would have done had it been the other fighter on Queer Street.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025, 13:51Only when it comes to stopping the away fighter.gilgamesh wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025, 13:35

Joe was stopped legit by Joe Joyce. He was nowhere near in that state against Fabio.gilgamesh wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025, 13:35I mean it ain't his fault that the British Boxing Board of Control hires sh*t referees. Yes, but had you known you had the injury, would you still have done the 5k?golden_labrador wrote: ↑28 Oct 2025, 15:40i fractured a vertebrae a few years ago and was able to do a 5k a week later (before finally getting the painful niggle x-rayed/MRI'ed and realising what I'd done). wouldn't have been able to box for at least 6 months.

Btw, I too have done sports with injuries, ran 15k with a messed up ankle, played hockey with a broken hand, etc., and that was my decision to make.
BUT I am assuming we are similar in the sense that tens of millions of pounds and hundreds of jobs aren't connected to us recovering from injury...
The guy clearly just wanted a break and didn't fancy having a timeline dictated to him - trouble is we are now onto the 4th WBO interim since Usyk became champion

Comms were like. “Ref says protect urself at all times” - from what? Barely anything landing?
“Manfredo wasn’t throwing back” - he was barely getting hit. Them last few shots were hitting the flies in the air.![]()
Joke of a stoppage too.
