It's at the new NFL stadium in Vegas.

I'd LOVE to go to it but you just know it's going to be silly money for tickets and hotels.

I'm still not picking a winner. One part of me sees Canelo just being too hefty but for years I've heard about how crazy strong Crawford is. And he's very smart & vicious whereas Canelo has been coasting for years now.

But a fighter is a fighter. Maybe this will bring out the best in Canelo.

I last went to Vegas 5 or so years ago for my stag. I found it expensive then and thought it had gone up in price compared to when I went a few years before.

We saw Rolly fight there weirdly.

I’d imagine for Crawford/Canelo the tickets will be extremely expensive. Wrestlemania was there recently and the tickets were pricey. For the second day the cheapest was $230. I’d imagine there will be more demand for the boxing so wouldn’t surprise me if cheapest were $400.

They absolutely hammer you on the concessions. A buddy went to the Allegiant and for 4 waters, 4 small sets of wings and 4 beers it cost $210.

CANELO-CRAWFORD WILL BE FIRST TKO BOXING EVENT PROMOTED BY TURKI ALALSHIKH AND DANA WHITE

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - Now that Canelo Alvarez is past William Scull, the long-anticipated showdown with Terence Crawford is on.

Crawford stepped into the ring to face off with Canelo as Turki Alalshikh announced that the pair will meet for Alvarez’s Ring Magazine super middleweight championship on Sept. 12 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.

Alalshikh later revealed on social media that the Canelo-Crawford super fight will be the first TKO Boxing event promoted by himself and UFC president Dana White.

The TV platform for the fight will be announced later, Alalshikh said.

Alalshikh and White unveiled plans for TKO’s boxing venture last month in New York. TKO was formed when WWE and UFC joined forces to form a publicly traded company. Nick Khan, the president of WWE, was a driving force in boxing for years.

He managed Hall of Famers James Toney and Manny Pacquiao and negotiated Top Rank’s media rights deal with ESPN as the co-head of CAA’s TV department.

Canelo-Crawford will be the third Riyadh Season event outside the Kingdom following Crawford-Israil Madrimov in Los Angeles and Anthony Joshua-Daniel Dubois in London last year.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is set to become history’s first "billion dollar boxer" at some point in 2026, according to his business manager Richard Schaefer.

The Mexican idol kicked off his lucrative four-fight Riyadh Season deal on Saturday night — but it wasn’t pretty.

The Ring champion spent 12 early morning rounds chasing William Scull around every inch of the ring at ANB Arena and eventually claimed a comfortable unanimous decision, which made him a two-time undisputed super-middleweight champion.

The victory set up a Sept. 12 superfight with Terence Crawford at Allegiant Stadium Las Vegas with both men brought together in centre-ring for a face-off to kick off the promotion for the biggest fight of the year.

That showdown will cap a remarkable year for Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs), who recently surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo to become the highest paid athlete on the planet during 2025. It has been recently estimated by Forbes that he has earned just over $600m during his professional career, which turns 20 in October.

Now Schaefer has predicted that the 34-year-old is on the brink of reaching an astonishing boxing milestone.

The former Golden Boy CEO told The Ring: “Canelo is, without any question, the smartest businessman in boxing I have ever met.

“And we are going to get him over that next hurdle… He’s going to be the first fighter to break the billion dollar net worth.

“I have zero questions about it. When? Probably next year.”

Schaefer’s presence alongside Canelo in Riyadh had come as a surprise for some given the former banker has been essentially absent from boxing for many years and considered himself "happily retired" from the business.

But he explained how his relationship with the Mexican, which began 17 years ago, was recently rekindled.

“I’m very fortunate,” Schaefer said. “I started with him when he was 17 years old. I’ve known him since then and now he’s 34.





“We worked together during the Golden Boy days and always had an amazing relationship and friendship with him. And then he reached back out. We stayed in touch. We were friends. We called each other.

“We met each other. But I was sort of retired, I've done my thing in boxing and was happily retired. And then he called me and he said, 'Look, it would be great to have you back. Come and help me with everything.’

“He's my friend. So I'm very happy to do that. I'm thrilled, excited to be working for him and with him, handling all different aspects; fight negotiations, all these other businesses, everything."

I’m a sucker for a big fight but I’ve no real interest in this.

Canelo’s years past his best and is on the longest and most lucrative retirement tour in history. The only fight anybody has really wanted to see him in for years has been Benavidez but he won’t fight him

Bud is a joy to watch but showed signs of deterioration against Madri and going to 168 to fight Canelo could be a step too far.

Better fights would be Bud v Boots or Bud v Ortiz

This fight is perhaps the first black mark against Turki so far - a shameless cash grab designed to appeal to casuals who hear 4 belt champ v 4 belt champ and are hooked.

Alvarez is not what he was. I don't see how he wins.

I wouldn't read too much into their last fights, sometimes fighters need the big fights to perform. Maybe Canelo just went through the motions as he didn't want to jeopardise this fight.

But Canelo can't be as good as he was, he'll be 35 and having his 68th fight after being a pro for 20 years and fighting at a world level for 12+ years. This would have taken a toll along with all the training. They aren't too dissimilar in size so it should be a good fight. I'm on the fence, can see Crawford pulling off an upset but can see Canelo being too big and strong if no weight clauses.

Official: Not buying talk of new date for Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford

A report from Turki Alalshikh’s Ring Magazine stating that the Saudi boxing financier is moving his Saul “Canelo” Alvarez-Terence Crawford fight from September 12 in Las Vegas to September 13 (a Saturday) at one of five possible US locations is being painted as a second misdirection campaign, an industry insider told Boxing Scene on Tuesday.

Following a Ring report in February stating that Alvarez was interested in fighting Jake Paul, only for Alvarez to turn to then-IBF super middleweight titleholder William Scull for a Cinco de Mayo weekend bout in Saudi Arabia that was widely panned for its inactivity, Tuesday’s report is said to be another turn toward gamesmanship.

The boxing official who spoke to Boxing Scene said Alvarez-Crawford streamer Netflix is set to report in the near future that the fight is staying right where it was originally announced – Friday, September 12, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Why the “news” of the new date and location has been floated is unknown, except that promoters can engage in gamesmanship when competing with others over dates – particularly the prized Mexican Independence Day weekend that undisputed 168lbs champion Alvarez has ruled for years.

As of now, the only other major bout that weekend is Naoya Inoue’s defense of his undisputed junior featherweight title against Murodjon “M.J.” Akhmadaliev in Tokyo on September 14.

Scheduling Alvarez versus unbeaten four-division champion Crawford on a Friday in an NFL stadium has seemed odd from the outset after Alalshikh took a financial bath when he staged his May 2 Times Square card in front of a small group of VIPs and then moving Mexico’s popular Alvarez off his traditional Cinco de Mayo weekend Saturday in Las Vegas to fight before another paltry crowd in Saudi Arabia.

For now, the fight is locked out of Saturday or Sunday at Allegiant Stadium by a UNLV football game September 13 and the possibility that the Las Vegas Raiders will play a home game there September 14. (Additionally, fight promoter and UFC president Dana White will also be staging UFC Noche in Guadalaraja, Mexico, on September 13.)

If the fight were to take place on a Friday, Alvarez-Crawford would start on a weeknight when those in the Pacific Time Zone are still getting home from work – further weakening the drawing power of that bout.

“The bloom is already off the Canelo rose after his fight in Saudi Arabia. How many are excited to watch this?” asked a veteran boxing insider talking separately from the other industry official.

Both spoke on the condition of anonymity because of existing business arrangements that could be compromised by speaking candidly on these matters.
