guido again is being a tough test, still very much in this, may have hurt torrez a bit in the 5th

Guido needs to watch those elbows and forearms. I don't think the ref is going to let it go without another point deduction soon

gotta say im a tad concerned for torrez's chin down the line, a few times in the fight jabs have made him retreat and look a bit nervous. he recoups quick and comes back with bombs, but i would be surprised if he doesnt get absolutely ktfo one day with how he fights

very good test for him here, it's not over yet. torrez very strong inside and should keep punching as much as he can when guido tries to hold or they tangle

Guido was almost out on his feet. Torrez held him up.

both raggedly swinging now

torrez should be winning but not that impressive tbh. where he is really good is up tight , but a lot to work on when he's out of that range

good last round for torrez, guido looked weary and worn out, torrez with more energy

torrez should win, decent result since guido is a solid boxer but so much to improve on. tbh his stock a bit lower for me

It didn't lower his stock for me. Torrez is a tough smaller heavyweight that will get knocked out at some point. He needs to learn to slip punches better and to calm down a bit.
But he is a real contender now. just how far he goes is up in the air

Guido needs to work on inside fighting. He has limited skill on the inside

true, he basically stopped fighting when inside and at times torrez could hit him at will there. its like he thought when they are inside it's a time out

Didn’t Jalov horrifically ko him in the amatures?

ya it was brutal, although i kinda give torrez a pass on that cuz he was like only 19 or something and got caught with a great shot, and jalo can punch pretty seriously even in the ams.

but even giving a pass there, sorta got a vibe tonight that a bigger guy with power could sting him up pretty good and that he's at risk for jumping into something when trying to get inside, at least he is a likable fighter but not totally convinced he will be much more than an averageish contender. tbf it was a pretty big step up and hes got time to improve. we will see,

I don’t think anyone has ever had him pinned as a top 5… feels like the type of guy to be 7-15 ish in his prime. Although he is dam near there now given that win.

He has always been “better babic” but will still be limited at true world level…

The big question is what now. I actualy thought this was too big a step up (still had him favorite)..: think he needs to pump the breaks at this level for a little bit, that said…

Hunter or Franklin would be good USA duals. They are premium fights for him.

Wilder for battle of the less technicaly gifted olympic medalists… is also excelent.

Otto, Goodal, guidry, Shaw, Kingsley, Charles Martin, stone, thun, pulev, mak truck, chisora, Whyte, huni…. All good options.

But activity is key so he might have to jump between these suggested type fights and shit fights just to keep the momentum flowing..

Had Torrez winning 97-92 but it was a bit ragged, Vianello getting a point off for holding as early as the 2nd, there wasn't much quality, Torrez having his success with lunging right hooks, Vianello had good spells doing the basics, the jab/right cross, as I say I lacked quality, nobody was in the driving seat as such, Torrez hurt Vianello bad with a left hand in the 8th which had him out on his feet but Torrez couldn't capitalize and had to settle for a decision, pretty forgettable fight tbh, not sold on Torrez but yet apart from his perm and sexy ass tash

For someone who relies so much on the need to get inside effectively, Torrez isn’t very good at it. When he’s there, he does damage, plus his being a pretty speedy southpaw will give many heavyweights problems when they are in close, but he is going to get timed and tagged as he moves up the ranks if he doesn’t improve his movement and/angles.

The ref did a good job of taking away Guidos plan to hold, but Richard isn’t always going to get that either. Uppercuts and body attack needs to be improved.

He’s a fun fighter, tough and it’s nice to see a mauling heavyweight again.

I feel like a bit of a hypocrite because as a fan I want prospects to "step up," but then when they do, they are sometimes "exposed." Kind of the case with Torrez, even though Guido also has a solid amateur and pro background. Torrez still looked pretty good but as others said he is more of a banger than a KO artist.

As far as his look is concerned, it's funny to me that it's controversial to some as it was a normal look back in the late 1970s. Guess the look is making a comeback.

Not a bad chin I don't think, just being a cruiser in with the big men.
Was always gonna limit his ceiling.
