Channel 5 do more viewers for boxing than Sky Sports. They do very little outside of that though to push/promote the fighters/shows so even if a show gets sat 1.5m viewers that’s unlikely to translate to future ticket sales.

100% right. Being on C5 is hardly like 15 years ago when Fury fought Chisora the first time or when Josh Taylor fought Ohara Davies. It’s completely under the radar now. Wasserman have been awful on C5. Mick and McGuigan used to put title fights on, now it’s 10 rounders. If C5 was that visible for boxers Kelly, Eubank ( not JR ) and Lyndon Arthur would be household names.

Sounds like a pretty damn good deal - big issue with it though it is only 12 months - he's got to deliver and quick.
Great to be using the BBC website - that is critical (far more traffic than tucked away on Iplayer)I think now and the surprise that BBC 2 will be showing some of the main events.
Needs to use the Bunce pod.
Speaking of the Bunce pod - really poor show the amount of coverage (or lack of) they gave to Manny Pacquiao's so close to historical making performance. Fair enough it was a potentially horrible black spot for boxing - so completely get the lack of mention during the build up - but post fight and a pretty damn good performance from Manny - and it has got ZERO mention.
Is Eubank Jnr still there - I wonder if Benn vs Eubank might have some kind of simulcast showing.

I'd class myself as a hardcore fan and didn't even watch Manny.

The issue Shalom will have is that he’s likely only getting say 50% of the budget he had with Sky.
That means they run far fewer shows making it harder to build a fighter, the fighters have to take a paycut, which I can’t see happening, or they to main event with cheaper fighters.
They were getting c.£1m a show from Sky and even then the bulk of shows weren’t great. I can’t see how they’ll be able to make it work with say Whittaker as main.
I think several fighters will leave. Whittaker, Caroline Dubois potentially and perhaps others. Eubank JR also probably doesn’t have a need for him either as it’s not like BBc will be getting involved in PPV.
Will be interesting to see how it works out.

Shalom still has a big opportunity here, FW certainly didn't start off with TV deals and the like, Benny has a free to air platform, has much more money to play with than the small hall promoters, done right he can maximise earnings from tickets and sponsorship, build fighters from the ground up and genuinely prove himself as a promoter

He has said he's still involved with the Eubank v Benn rematch, surely they are making a few quid from that.

It's free to air boxing. What's not to like?
BBC did a decent job of the Brandon Daord fight earlier this year and if I recall it was available from the front BBC sport webpage.

I’m sure they’re doing ok with it but what are Boxxer/Shalom bringing to it? No longer have the deal with Sky and it’s not like CEJ needs someone to talk for him. So id be surprised if Shalom takes a meaningful cut.
