Thats right, I think he's a very good prospect and hopefully he will keep going and he could well do something in the 2008 Olimpics... he needs encouragement not Khans name spluttered in his face everytime he fights!. I doubt that he's getting one fifth of the sponsorship Khan is.

I thought Frankie Gavin came across very well infact. Was honest and made no excuses. I was happy that he was gutted actually, shows how much he wants it. He needs to turn that feeling though into determination and not just give up - that is my concern.

Grandstand never shows programes on time and they are not interested in Boxing. Showjumping or snooker thats another thing! Hours of zzzzz rubbish.

The BBC dont want to be left out when it comes to the Amir Khan spot light so they show little parts of boxing in able to keep there foot in the door.

It was a waste of time but it was still better than nothing. I didnt go to the show myself due to work, but i would recomend people going to watch Amateur shows. Tickets were only £15 and you can get to watch the whole show, not just highlights. You can get pissed up and have a night in the City

Amateur Boxing will go very quite on TV now, as Amir Khan goes Pro there will be no interest what so ever in it.

You have to remember that the British public dont even know who the Current Pro British Heavyweight is!

ITV will show a one off, but the old days of prime time boxing is long gone. If they cant get Joe public interested in Pro Boxing, Amateur hasn't got a hope in hell.

I love Boxing & will commit myself to it for the rest of my life, dont expect TV to do the same!

You have to remember that the British public dont even know who the Current Pro British Heavyweight is!

As I've said before, people on this board find themselves out of tune with what the public actually know regarding boxing.

Most people wouldn't be able to tell you who is regarded as the world heavyweight champion. And who can blame them?

There definitely has to be a problem with exposure. I remember as just a young thing with not a clue about boxing (no change there) a Bruno fight - against McCall I think - on BBC or ITV. My Dad and even my Mum watched it too. But it wan't until (I'm ashamed to say) Audrey turned pro and started on the BBC that my interest really started again. My Dad, who I'd tag a sort of armchair fan that boxing needs to get back, who harks back to the days of Ali and Frazier, wouldn't know who's who.

I'll try to go for a conclusion now. hopefully that has all illistrated that mainstream exposure would be a huge benefit to boxing. My Dad has Sky, but he wouldn't for example think 'right, there's an Alledgedly bill on tonight, I'll watch that. Not a lot of people are going to know about 99% of fights without purposely going out after them. And to do that they'd have to be a fan in the first place, so not many new fans could be had unless they're put in front of one.

Bruno-McCall was on Sky mate. At least I think it was. You would have to be going back a few years to get Bruno on terrestrial, live certainly. One of the dealers would confirm this, someone like Red Dragon.

You are totally correct about exposure and I've said it till I'm blue in the face.

All of Bruno's fights between Tyson 1 and Lewis were on BBC.

Bruno vs Lewis was on Sky.

Bruno vs Marin (1st fight after Lewis) in 1995 was on ITV.

Bruno vs Evans - (Fight before McCall) I'm not sure, but I think it was ITV.

Bruno vs McCall - Sky (part of the reason he didn't win Sports Personality of the year, IMO).

Bruno vs Tyson II - Sky.

I remember Ian Darke and Glenn McCrory willing Frank to hold on in those last rounds, I'm pretty sure Nigel Benn was at ringside doing the same. I've not watched that fight in absolutely ages because it was exciting at the time seeing if he would get to the end and I've got a feeling it would look really ugly in retrospect.

Bruno was tanked in that last round - he had a good 11th, but did had absolutely nothing left in the last.

Thanks for that. I can't be entirely sure, as I was only a young thing at the time. I know it wasn't Lewis, because Frank won! And maybe my mind just made this up, but I got the impression at the time that Bruno was the underdog. It could have been earlier than I first thought though, maybe 1992 or 93. Oh well, the mystery continues...

Bruno has some good fights vs Carl Williams and Coetzee prior to the Lewis fight - these were shown on the BBC.

If they were not one/two round mismatches it was probably one of these two fights.
