I’ll throw it out there. I have 7-4 or 6-5 Raymond. Bloody close rounds though.

116-112 to Muatalla but I don’t expect the judges to have it that wide. The bout was a lot closer than you’d think with this type of score.

Close fight, probably edge it to Muratalla if I had to pick.
One judge had it 118-110, unbelievable

Good close fight. To me Cruz lost.

Cruz seems under sized and under powered at 135. And he just dosent do enough sometimes (unless he thinks he is winning)…

Was there 7 or 8 rounds you could give to Cruz, yes absolutely, but given he hardly landed a meaningfull shot and was being walked back I just don’t think you can give it to him (ok you can but it wouldent sit right)

“”Scores” 114-114 116-112 118-110… Ramond wins…

… 118-110 is wideeee, but you i can nearly see it. 114 is tight but I can nearly see it. 116-112 feels right.

115-113 Muratalla on my card. 118-110 is a disgrace as was the judge who had Coe by 4 points over Hart.

Same score I had.
Fun fight, plenty of action, very few clinches.

They spent a lot of time along the ropes which means at least one judge can only see one fighter and quite often leads to judges cards being far apart.

Great fight as Ray Muratalla scores the majority decision victory over Andy Cruz to retain his lightweight title. Had it 114-114, same as one of the judges. Don’t have issue with the 116-112 card, but 118-110? Either way, want to see more of both Muratalla and Cruz.

Is Muratalla that good or did Cruz not live up to the hype?

Close fight, I scored it 114-114, but there's no doubt that Muratalla finished stronger; he was also the reigning champion and always pushed the fight. Andy only managed to show flashes of his best boxing.
What's worrying is that, with the contemporary professional system, Cruz will be sidelined for a year, and it will take time to get another title shot. Now he has to stay focused because even in defeat he showed he's at the level to be a champion, although I would say the lack of punching power and variety is a concern.

Muratalla was good and he finished strong when he had to. Bit disappointed in that Cruz couldn´t "do a Mayweather" and make a clear difference in the last three rounds.

118-110.. These judges are so damn incompetent..
Why are all 3 judges from the US anyway?

Realistically, yes. He's touted as having as high of an upside for any prospect in the sport given his amateur history and his professional record this far (until this fight). Him being a betting favourite over someone like Muratalla after 6 fights shows that.

115-113 Muratalla, close fight, highly competitive but Cruz just too passive offensively, his defence is incredible and he picked off some lovely counters but Muratalla outworked him, was more aggressive and forced the fight, his defence was pretty sound as well, targeted the body with his right hand, pushed Cruz back, even in the tight rounds where there wasn't much to go on it was Muratalla who looked like he was working harder, I thought Cruz would've upped his output down the stretch but he didn't and it was Muratalla who turned it up a notch, deservedly got the win

I was pulling for Cruz. I saw him fight once before. I was looking for the next Lomachenko or Rigondeux.

Cruz talented fighter. His jab and defense awesome but not enough offense or punching power vs Murtalla.

The fight felt competitive for about 4 rounds, then a mystery if Cruz could hurt or hit Murtalla often enough which he could not was answered and Muratalla became the boss the hunter in the fight.

Muratalla won this fight by large margin in my opinion. Hats off to Muratalla,

I wonder how Shakur Stevenson would do against either of these fighters at 135.

Very interesting and very close fight. I had it 116-112 for Cruz but don't have a problem with 114-114 and I can almost even see the 116-112 for Muratalla. These seemingly demented wide scores like 118-110 do kinda make sense in fights like this, since you score round by round and it's enough to win just 51% percent of each round. You don't watch a close fight and then afterwards be like ok that's a 6-6 fight.

How many good shots did Cruz land with power?…It really could be zero. That’s potentialy an exaggeration but Cruz was too amateurish in there. Hardly sat down on anything, rarely looked to have any intention of hurting his opponent. Was fist pumping to the judges when he got a clean connect…

Cruz will always be a points guy at the top levle. But he needs to mix in some venom. If I were his manager I’d have him fight 5 or 6 times at a over the next year at slightly bellow brittish levle and just sit on shots and go for stoppages…

I’d also explor 130 because he looked undersized (or is ray just huge?)

Cruz is rapid, slick and sharp and the fight was close… but if your on the backfoot never try load up on anything and never deter your opponent I can see how a judge could have it wide against you by edging a lot of close rounds to the guy with intent.

Mannix has good days and bad days with the scores.

As does every person on this forum.

At least Mannix takes it seriously(unlike Mora).
Mannix wants to turn in an acceptable scorecard and he does quite a bit......including last night which was a tough one to score..
No shame in agreeing with Chris on this one.

Raymond Muratalla deserves a lot of credit here.
I picked Cruz to win and I thought he boxed a pretty good fight on the whole and did what I expected him to do.
I'd imagined the fight to be close going into the last three to four rounds and then Cruz would take over winning a decision, but as we now know it didn't play out that way.
Muratalla was on top of him almost all night forcing the action and was a deserving winner.
Goes to show you can look the part like Anthony Joshua and get knocked out by Andy Ruiz or have a stellar amateur career like Andy Cruz and lose to a solid pro like Muratalla.
If you work hard enough you can overcome the odds, respect to Muratalla he earned that and even though it was close he was the clear winner, good story for Raymond Muratalla he did it against the odds :TU:

IBF are offering Cruz a final eliminator.

Even though he just lost.

It’s against Albert Bell (28-0, 9 KOs), who’s ranked No. 6 by the IBF

I mean, we've seen title shots after someone getting knocked out. In comparison, that's not too bad, especially after a razor thin decision.

Should be an easy win for Cruz though.

I'd understand if there was a different champion but he'd just be facing Muratalla again. The scorecards were pretty wide in Muratalla's favour. There are two vacant belts in the division and for the WBC he is ranked number 3, surely he's better off trying to win that?
