Who is even matchmaking for Boxxer now? I think John Wischousen was matchmaker but they are currently suing him.

GUSTAVO LEMOS SAD ADAM AZIM FIGHT FELL THROUGH, HOPES FOR RESCHEDULED DATE

Argentine junior welterweight Gustavo Lemos had been preparing to face rising force Adam Azim on Saturday.

However, news broke earlier this week their fight had been postponed when firstly Lemos pulled out. After efforts were made to secure a new opponent for Azim, he also injured himself in the final sparring session of training camp.

"Sadly, we suffered a hand injury just a few days before the fight," Lemos told The Ring.

"The decision was for the best, so that I can be at 100 percent for this bout."

The hope is their fight can be rescheduled within the next few months, solidifying who is the IBF's new No. 2 contender. Azim is rated No. 5 by the sanctioning body, while Lemos is four places below him.

"I assure you that the postponement will be better than you think," he said. "We're moving forward steadily with my hand recovery and training."

Lemos turned professional in 2016, after which he won his first 29 fights — all in his native Argentina — including a fifth-round stoppage of former featherweight beltholder Lee Selby in March 2022 during an IBF lightweight title eliminator.

However, weight issues led to him moving up to 140 pounds where he gave now-champion Richardson Hitchins fits en route to dropping a disputed 12-round unanimous decision in an April 2024 eliminator.

He came in overweight and folded rather meekly seven months later against Keyshawn Davis in two rounds, but has since returned to the win column.

Azim, meanwhile, was a decorated amateur before turning professional at 18 in 2020.

The Ring's No. 8-rated junior welterweight, he won the European title with a 10th-round stoppage of Franck Petitjean in November 2023 before retaining the title with a fifth-round finish against an injured Enock Poulsen three months later.

The 23-year-old vacated the title and stepped into international competition last year, stopping former world champion Sergey Lipinets in nine one-sided rounds before a final-round finish of Kurt Scoby as part of the Eubank-Benn II undercard on November 15.

Apparently Fisher has accepted the TKV fight, dunno who will promote that.

Will Asim stay?
Fisher is fighting on BBC. Cashing him out. He’ll lose, then they get him a win vs a journeyman then feed him to Dave Allen for the Teemu Trilogy.
How is it cashing him out if the BBC pay pennies? Surely it makes sense for TKV to take an away trip to make a few quid.
As he’s no chance of winning so Eddie can take his cut without having to do anything as it’s on BBC

It was agreed for a Matchroom show, apparently. Eddie is desperate for UK headliners and Fisher sells a lot of tickets. The fight is tailor made for the Copperbox with Liddard, Sains, etc on the undercard. And if the BBC are paying peanuts, where is Fisher's money coming from?

One possible silver lining from this sudden late pullout due to injuring hand in "final spar" - it might free Adam up to be placed on a Riyadh card later this year, for more money.

Would be great news for his promoters as well as they'd get a bigger %, can imagine the cashflow would be welcomed. His spot on the Eubank card was a pure earner for Boxxer.

Interested to see where he pops up next.

Makes sense, Benny will be able to give the BBC a TV show, Fast Far will promote it and generate cash, fighters get paid well.

I am not his accountant and don't care if he ends his career with 1 million pound earnings or 100 million pound earnings, he is going to be rich either way.

Good question.

Didn't see any post-event interviews from the Boxxer promoter this weekend. Would have been a good opportunity to ask.

Maybe Azim has to deliver a bbc fight due to pulling out of this one? I don't know how that would work. BBC /boxxer deal was 4 events. I guess that would have to be worked out as a standalone.

What happened to all the "show per month" chat as well?
