Re: Nathaniel Collins vs. Cristobal Lorente II | DAZN - 17 April 2026
Poor corner work from Collin's team.
No urgency in their work or from Collins either.
Looked very flat.

Re: Nathaniel Collins vs. Cristobal Lorente II | DAZN - 17 April 2026
114-113 Lorente, surprised I've got it that close tbh, Collins getting the benefit in a few of the first 5 rounds, disappointing fight thought, Collins was woeful, no idea what was up with him, just toothless , both guys were terrible and far too cagey then when Collins dropped Lorente in the 6th, it sparked it , it was only a jab that put Lorente down but it caught him on the temple and he looked stunned but Collins never pressed and within a minute Lorente was putting it on him
Second half it was nearly all Lorente, he landed all the meaningful shots, looked like Collins was struggling to cope, just flat, no urgency until the last round when he had one of his best, too little too late, wanted Collins win but glad Lorente never got stiffed on the cards

Ade interviewed Wilder post fight and didn't ask him two blatantly obvious questions.........
1. After the knockdown, why did you stand in the corner and let Chisora off the hook?
2. What's next? Joshua?

Immediately post fight in the ring isn't really the time for probing questions or those that put him on the spot.

That's what good interviewers do. Larry Merchant would have asked those questions.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑17 Apr 2026, 18:07I wouldn't blame him for thatkeithmoonhangover wrote: ↑17 Apr 2026, 17:53Ade interviewed Wilder post fight and didn't ask him two blatantly obvious questions.........

Maybe he was the last of a dying breed though. Jim Gray also did some top class post fight interviews in his day.
You just don't tend to hear anybody ask tough questions anymore and although yes from a selfish perspective i'd find it interesting to hear a fighter's thoughts i think on balance it's probably not right to ask a knackered, emotional, concussed man tough questions immediately after what he's gone through in the ring.
Re: Nathaniel Collins vs. Cristobal Lorente II | DAZN - 17 April 2026
Sh*t Larry Merchant would've been like "Why did you hold back in the corner before throwing the right hand? Were you trying to let him off the hook?" he really got in your face about itkeithmoonhangover wrote: ↑17 Apr 2026, 18:23That's what good interviewers do. Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant are my favorite TV Boxing crew, but Larry Merchant is the closest thing to me if I were a Boxing broadcaster. I love 'ol Merch.

My favourite Larry Merchant post fight interview is after Hopkins vs Hakkar. Hakkar put in an absolutely dreadful performance.
"Congratulations Bernard..."
"Thanks Larry"
"Aren't you embarrassed by this? A great fighter having to fight this..."
Merchant was speechless for a few moments trying to up with a way to describe Hakkar

One of my favorite moments in that interview is when Larry says something like "Do you think people are gonna pay to see fights like this?"TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑18 Apr 2026, 15:31 My favourite Larry Merchant post fight interview is after Hopkins vs Hakkar. And Hopkins replied "Well, I'll tell you this Larry. I ain't leaving without a check tonight!"
