I like Rolly, but I don’t think he’s really very good - and Ryan Garcia is obviously useless when he’s not on the gear.

Teo is world-class, and should smash him up in about seven or eight rounds

Rolly Romero is already maximized his talents in boxing 'winning fights vs. Ryan Garcia and now potentially Teofimo Lopez is Romero overachieving in the sport in terms of the universal perspective the boxing media have of him'.

Note: But for me personally? I think Rolly Romero has certain traits as a fighter 'that will always give him a chance, when well prepared in a big fight. He has genuine punching power, is very strong in terms of brute strength and his fundamentals and stance are solid'.

I have seen Teofimo Lopez lose fights 'due to his conditioning i.e. against George Kambosos Junior. Rolly Romero is always in condition, and this could be a factor in this fight'.

But for sure, Teofimo Lopez is the favourite 'and should be looking to win this fight in impressive fashion if he plans to take over the divisions'.

Regardless, I am still giving Rolly Romero a chance 'for the win' etc.

‘I’m coming back with a vengeance’: Teofimo Lopez and Rolly Romero press conference gets tense

Teofimo Lopez says he’s taking this fight against Rolly incredibly serious.

During today’s final press conference ahead of this weekend’s welterweight title fight between Rolly Romero and Teofimo Lopez, both fighters spoke to the media before some personal issues started to creep up between the fighters, with Teofimo in particular getting offended by Rolly’s flippant attitude.

“To me, he’s an interim champion,” Teofimo said. “He’s always been a three division interim champion. He’s never been an actual super champion or any world champion, he’s been elevated. And I think some people forget that this guy’s not in my league. He won’t ever be in my league. He never was in my league, and I think that’s the whole purpose of this thing, is for me to show everyone that. Just because he beat Ryan Garcia — I’m not Ryan Garcia.”

Rolly would then attempt to troll Teofimo about considering reconstructive surgery on his face.

“You can say all that. It’s all fun and games, you got you shirt off and all that stuff, showing your chest and everything — you know, same thing you did with Tank. Same thing. So I seen all these things with you and you can say what you want to say, smile, but it ain’t going to matter come Saturday night.”

Rolly would continue to poke fun at Teofimo Jr and Sr, which Jr didn’t take too kindly considering he doesn’t believe Rolly has accomplished nearly as much to be cracking jokes.

“What have any of you guys done in this sport to even come about it?” Teofimo exclaimed. “I beat Lomachenko when nobody wanted to fight Lomachenko, #1 pound-for-pound over Canelo, over Crawford, over all their heads. You came afterwards and congratulated me. All you guys are fans. All of you are fans. I’m fighting my fans fight now. Who’s the best fight Shakur has on his resume? Me.

“I think everybody needs a reality check on this this. I’m coming back with a vengeance, and I mean that…And I’m coming for you first. You’re going to be my Judas, because I always knew how you always were about me but I was always kind about it because I got a big heart.”

But Rolly, being a man of God at this point in life, couldn’t let that one slide.

“I never hated on you,” Rolly would say. “I’ve been the only boxer to support you.”

The pair would then get into a back and forth argument that lead to Rolly getting up out of his seat and making a lot of hand gestures in Teo’s direction. Once Rolly took a seat after having defended his honor, Teofimo Sr offered some final thoughts.

“You’re going to get your chance, Rolly,” Teofimo Sr said. “Come Saturday night, when you corner a dog he’s going to come and fight. So everybody expect a fight…And this is a fight against the whole world, the whole industry, the whole boxing community. My son was not in the pound-for-pound list when he beat Josh ‘F-ckin’ Taylor, undisputed champion…That fight in January was a mental fight to destroy my son and now we coming back to f-ck everybody up because my son loves it when he’s down!”

Lopez Certain He’ll Become Undisputed Welterweight Champ

Teofimo Lopez has been teetering following his lopsided loss to Shakur Stevenson in January.

After losing his Ring and WBO junior welterweight titles, Lopez officially left the division following a seven-fight run in the weight class. The 29-year-old Brooklyn native is now looking to bring the balance back in his favor at 147 pounds when he boxes WBA welterweight champion Rolando Romero on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Their 12-round fight will headline a DAZN and Prime Video pay-per-view event presented by Premier Boxing Champions ($79.99 in the United States).

“I truly believe that my legacy-defining fights will be in the welterweight division,” Lopez told The Ring. “When it’s all said and done, I can confidently say that I am going to be an undisputed welterweight world champion.”

Lopez (22-2, 13 KOs), a former Ring and unified lightweight champion as well, has scored career-best wins against Vasiliy Lomachenko in October 2020 and Josh Taylor in June 2023. He also looked subpar in a split-decision defeat to George Kambosos Jr. in November 2021 and sneaked away with a split-decision victory over Sandor Martin in December 2022, which left Lopez famously pondering in front of TV cameras if he still had it.

Lopez hasn’t scored a knockout win since stopping Pedro Campa during his 140-pound debut in August 2022.

Romero (17-2, 13 KOs), a notorious power-punching brawler, could be the come-forward, awkward fighter Lopez needs to score another statement win. But as Ryan Garcia found out firsthand in Romero’s last fight, the 30-year-old Las Vegas native could pull a rabbit out of his hat and land a win.

Romero is a +190 underdog, whereas Lopez is a -245 favorite, according to DraftKings.

If Lopez dethrones Romero, he could suddenly set himself up for big-money title unification fights against the likes of Garcia, the WBC champion, and WBO titleholder Devin Haney. Liam Paro, the IBF belt-holder, could also present Lopez with big business in Australia.

“We’re going to get into these fights,” Lopez said. “I made a direct deal with DAZN, the network itself, with Takeover Promotions. So, we’re not under the other promoters. We are the promoters at the same time. That means we have a lot of great responsibilities now, and I look forward to making boxing great again. I always give better performances than anybody else. We’ll see what happens.”

Yh o only create separate threads for RBR when it’s a big hype of a fight, or if the main fight thread has lots of pages. And that’s usually rare now days.

Commentators kept praising Utria throughout the round, but I honestly felt like Mercado did the better work. He was getting in more jabs, and the occasional counter hook. Utria got some shots in too, but it felt like Mercado's were cleaner and more frequent.

To my eyes Mercado is landing more punches.

They need to show the punch stats. I guarantee he's landing more.

Utria wins the round, but Mercado makes him work for it. It looks like Utria is a fighter who turns it up and down while Mercado is kinda a steady Eddy kinda fighter who just maintains a similar pace throughout, and constant pestering pressure on you.

Mercado takes the 4th. He's beating Utria's speed with better timing and accuracy from what I can see. I'd like to see someone else's score
