I hope to hear both fights signed soon personally. The only thing I don't wanna hear about Usyk vs Benavidez is them having it as a Cruiserweight fight because that would just be stupid, and it'd probably mean each man is earning several million less as well.

They could always do it at Bridgerweight.

Which would mean it's a Heavyweight fight because there is no Bridgerweight.

Didn’t knock out Zhang or Joe Parker either.

He’s never been world class and his well past his best.

Wilder is a legend, mate.

He & Marciano are the only American Heavyweight World Champions who never lost to another US fighter :OhYes:

That puts him above Dempsey, Tunney, Louis, Ali, Holmes & Tyson ;-)

Deontay Wilder in talks to face Murat Gassiev after Oleksandr Usyk plans collapse

Deontay Wilder is in talks to challenge WBA heavyweight beltholder Murat Gassiev after failing to agree to a deal with Oleksandr Usyk.

Wilder, 45-4-1 (43 KOs), outpointed Derek Chisora in April after losing four of his previous six bouts. The 41-year-old former WBC titlist had been in the running to face Usyk before the Ukrainian opted to return to cruiserweight.

“He [Usyk] wants too much money,” Wilder told IBA. “That’s what I’m hearing. If that’s the case, you have to get what you feel you’re worth. I’ve lost a lot of money and I’ve made a lot of money, but when it comes to making fights, I just like to see who’s the best.

“I want to fight the people who are supposed to be the best. When it’s all over, the money isn’t going to go with you when you die. The belts aren’t going to go with you either. But your legacy will live on forever.”

Wilder hasn’t held a belt since losing to Tyson Fury in February 2020. His form dipped following that defeat and their third fight in 2021, even accounting for his recent victory over Chisora.

Even so, Wilder claims he feels like he’s 19.

“Age is nothing but a number. We’re not getting old, we’re just getting older. What we can control is how we feel, what we eat and what we put into our bodies.”

Wilder, who believes the heavyweight division is struggling, hopes to secure a fight with Gassiev, 34-2 (27 KOs).

“There is some communication between me and Murat’s team for sure, and I would love that. Out of all the choices, I would love for that one to go,” Wilder said. “He’s a great guy, a great champion. He’s been to my camps before, and we’ve sparred. To see him as a champion is well deserved.

“Boxing is boring and dead again in the heavyweight division, for sure. I brought it back once, and I’m going to do it again. Mark my words.”

Did he even try to?

Looks like he tried his best not too.

Wouldn't be surprised if someone in the know has a cheeky bet on the result even.

Deontay Wilder vs. Jai Opetaia added to Fury-Joshua card Dec. 11

Clear your schedules because December 11 just got a whole lot bigger.

Former WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will clash with reigning cruiserweight world champion Jai Opetaia in a co-feature of the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury super fight at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

Wilder (45-4-1, 43 KOs) comes into one of the toughest matchups of his career after a hard-fought split-decision win over Derek Chisora in April. Wilder, 41, has been a The Bronze Bomber has one of the most feared right hands in the division's history, and he'll be looking to unload on the undefeated Australian.

Opetaia (31-0, 24 KOs) brings heavy hands to his heavyweight debut. The former Olympian claimed The Ring and IBF belt in 2022 and has been on a tear since, recording seven knockouts in his last nine fights.

December 11 had already promised to be an unforgettable night, but Wilder vs. Opetaia could provide fireworks before the main event.

Imagine how hilarious it would be if Wilder KO'd Opetaia. It's a joke matchup really to promote Jai really because Zuffa have probably realised the general public in the UK and US don't know or cares who he is.

Imagine how shit Deontay would have to look to end up on Opetaia’s highlight reel. I doubt the win would result in many people suddenly sitting up and saying damn this Opetaia can really fight. All the focus would be on what Wilder has become.

Garbage match up.

Opetaia gets hit himself but he would always beat Wilder, who was always a bad fighter who lost every round against journeymen until he landed a punch.
