you cannot make a bet, especially a large one anonymously. So if say fighter X bets agaisnt himself, people will know soon. then an investigation will follow.
Those betting houses are not stupid. They are not in the business of being grossly wrong. Or else they wouldnt be long in that business.
Even if someone close to them makes such a bet, people will still find out.

No offence to the guy, but Ruiz really is becoming like a fart under the duvet. You just wish it would go, but you have to acknowledge it's there and its not going any time soon.

Is it just me, or has this all been done with unnatural haste? Christ, the fight was only last weekend, and he's already been stripped. I mean, aren't they going to even give him and his physician a chance to testify? Surely they should at least give him a chance of a hearing before stripping him.

Have they actually said which substance they found? As he had surgery, and was possibly on medications following the surgery, this may not be such a clear cut case. I find it hard to believe that Toney is a juice head, he certainly doesn't look like one.

You beat me to it. All morning I've been wondering how dodgy this thing is. It all seems a bit too quick and coincidental that Ruiz makes a hasty u-turn on his retirement. If I wasn't so cynical, I wouldn't put it past King to have known that Toney would fail a drugs test - whether innocently or not - but still let the fight go ahead ($$$) Maybe I'm telling it wrong, but there's definitely something dodgier than Toney simply failing a drugs test.

I agree, I thought the announcement that he failed the test was slow, but the decision to strip and suspend has been very hasty.

If only a 3 month ban why cant they fight again in September.

Doesn't make a difference if a doctor gave him something which contains illegal substances.. Quite a few olympic athletes have been stripped of medals for the same reasons and they couldnt do anything about it.. So dont see how Toney can appeal.

I'd like to think that justice could prevail (innocent until 100% proven guilty) but seems that the WBA dont want anything to do with that kind of reputation or something.
