The story with Audley Harrison is probably somewhere in between the camps that either seem to think he's ducking all and sundry and those that think he's going to assume the Lennox Lewis mantle.
I truly believe he does want to fight for a world title in the next 12-18 months but I also believe that he wants to navigate his way to that title shot by the easiest means possible.
Which means picking another 2/3 fights against opposition slightly on the wane or vunerable but still credible, carefully hand-picked to gain him the maximum exposure but least risk.
And then he'll earn a few million quid for the title shot as the undefeated challenger and former Olympic champion (which let's face it in a poor poor division is the most marketable Heavyweight challenger out there bar none) give it a good shot and see where it goes from there.
If he loses he made a few million and it's mission accomplished, if he were to beat whomever he challenges then it's a bonus.

Sorry again, but small things like this can send simple people like me down the wrong side of the motorway on a Monday morning
I know exactly what you mean, I thought why is this other Audley fan naming himself after me.... I thought it was bit weird, do you reckon hes some kind of stalker??????
fornicate OFF YOU WEIRDO!!!!!!
only joking, one is my work account and the other is my home account, I couldn't remember my password for my account, because I get logged in automatically at work, so I set up a new account

That's sort of what I thought. The voices in my head have gone now and there's no echo's when you post.
That leaves me free to mention Brock's next opponent - the all-conquering David Bostice
http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=015469 This guy lasted almost a whole round against Tim Witherspoon and TWO against Wlad Klit. So no-one can accuse Brock of treading water anyway
Also, it is for an absolute crappy shitty title, which I thought Brock seemed above, but he is evedently not.

Get a win vs one of these, then he can called out the names he has mentioned. I agree though about Briggs, he is on the level of the fighters I have mentioned.
I agree with this. Obviously Audley is in a slight rush (age, potential injuries etc) but even just one of these opponents named above would be step up from his recent contests. It would also increase his chances of securing a McCline, Barrett, etc level fight.

Basing yourself in the US is one thing but it's not much use when your not fighting anybody. Even though Audley is in the USA he is not exactly ripping up trees over there, most of them lost interest when he slipped off the radar with a combination of injuries and lacklustre opponents. I want to see Audley answer the critics who question his stamina, i am one of them in fact, i am yet to be convinced he can take the pressure of an intense fight which goes to the wire. So far he has beaten up people willing to fight at his pace, he is going to have to fight someone soon up cranks up the heat on him and how will he respond?

Audley has always been able to drop the lyrics & chat the chat, unfortunately for him (& us), he hasn't delivered.
Yes, he is unbeaten, but so what.
I'm unbeaten in my career too, precisely because I've never fought. You could say the same about Harrison.
He should have had more than 19 fights in almost five years!

He is not even on the radar at the moment though, US writers and columinsts who were once more "open minded" than us sceptical brits on a 30 something making it, are rather rapidly getting p'd off at his lack of opponents. I'm sure you have read the scathing reports/opinions of him from American writers.
Whilst it is no where near as bad, it is similar to Ruben Groenwald recently calling out Calzaghe. Calzaghe didn't respond, there is little point wasting his energy on that.
If Stephen Foster Jnr (WBO #7) called out Scott Harrison, would Harrison bother to reply - it is a bit like that at the moment.
Are you telling me that these fighters (Barrett, McCline, Briggs, Peter etc) that Audley is calling out are out of his league, in the similar way to the Foster-Harrison and Groenwald-Calzaghe situations, because thats just not true.
The US writers siupposedly slate him for his 'lack of opponents', but these people don't seem willing to fight him, its a bit of a a catch 22
I would say the Peter, McCline and probably Barrett will view Harrison as a backward step. They are looking at the world title situation, and I don't mean the WBF belt. Briggs is a different fighter - he is currently off the radar as far a world title are concerned and I think a Briggs vs Harrison fight would be good - if he (Briggs) is serious about making a mark in the Heavyweight scene then yes he should accept the challenge. He is such a loose cannon, I don't seriously think he has the dicipling to make a serious impression on the heavyweight scene.

Audley can't really win then?? If he fights the likes of Wiggins and Davis he bgets criticised about his poor standard of opponents, so he calls out a load of boxers above him and people say that they shouldn't fight Audley because they've got nothing to gain.
All of the fighters he has called out would have something to gain by beating Audley, especially McCline and Barrett who are both coming off BIG losses.

Shannon Briggs is out the question as an Audley opponents
From the Shannon Briggs interview
How would a fight between Vinny Mandalone and Shannon Briggs play out?
Shannon Briggs said
"It would be great he is a puncher, like he said 'He is going to come out swinging from the gate. just swinging wild punches and that is perfect for me.That is what I want to do, I hate boxers, when guys box they give me headaches, so that is great
That is why Briggs doesn't want to fight Audley Harrison, its because he knows that he gets his ears boxed off

If he doesn't like boxers Audley will give him a migrane
Brooklyn Briggs iknows he gets beat!!!!

If Audley signed and fought any of the names mentioned in my post I would be very happy, at last I could see a clear cut step up.
I just disagree that the fighters Harrison has called out would have a lot to gain. These fighters, despite the losses, are still looking for the big fights. Golota lost to Byrd, but then fought Ruiz - he lost to Ruiz and then fought Brewester. 3 titles fights in a row, with no win in sight. McCline and Barrett are still ranked in the top ten (and ahead of Audley) in some of the major governing bodies - they are still in the world title mix, or at least they believe they could be.
Harrison is just a little too far of the radar for them to think "hey, if I beat him I could get a high ranking". A win over the fighters I have mentioned and that may not be the case.
His press releases wouldn't sound so bad if it read "I'm an Olympic Gold Medalist, undefeated as a pro and beaten former 3 time world champion Michael Moorer (as an example) in my last fight". At the moment it reads "I won the Olympics in 2000 and undefeated as a pro but I have a low world ranking and my opponents have been critically panned".
Its time to stop talk and start fighting. Plenty of guys he can fight, why just pick on these 4. There is plenty of "bridge" type fighters between Wiggins and Barret/Mcline etc.

More Great analysis from DK Dingle
Stu, the McCline fight is a step nearer with both parties verbally agreeing to the fight and Jameels purse seems to have been agreed. Audleys next press release will read ""I'm an Olympic Gold Medalist, undefeated as a pro and coming off an emphatic win over the BIG punching title challenger Jameel 'BIG time' McCline"
Brock was being talked about as a VK opponent after his win over Jameel, so a win here for Audley should propel him up the rankings.

Chambers if it happens, I will be chuffed for Harrison. Its a good fight and one which will propel him in the rankings and with the critics (should he win).
The minute he is in the ring with McCline (win, lose or draw) my respect for him will increase.

September 21, 2005 - Cedric Kushner confirmed to Boxingtalk that Team McCline has "other plans" that do not include undefeated Olympic Gold Medallist Audley Harrison. Kushner feels he'll be able to get McCline back to a title fight without having to face someone like Audley Harrison, whom he described as "not worth the risk." According to Kushner, if McCline is victorious on October 21, "we'll be able to put him fights that will get Jameel in a position to earn much more than $200,000." Obviously Team McCline can't be talking about a Byrd rematch since the offer for McCline to fight Harrison is superior to DKP's $100,000 offer for McCline to fight Byrd. At the end of the day Kushner feels Harrison would be better served to call someone else out because all he's doing is "wasting his breath" by mentioning Jameel McCline.
This is bordering on the ridiculous now.
Kushner obviously hasn't got much confidence in Jameels abilities
I'd like to know what Jameel has to say about all this, but he's Kushners little puppet by the sound of things, so he won't be allowed to say anything
They are all SHIT scared to fight Audley!!!
