It will be the proudest day of his life when he joins Celtic next week!

Why are Utd the "darlings of the press", and why is Roy "hyped"???headhunter wrote:
a lot of roy`s hype comes from the fact he played for man u, the darlings of the press and middle england.
the treble is a great feat, we were robbed by united in 77 by the biggest deflected goal of all time in the F.A cup final so we know how hard it is to do it, by the way though you had your fair share of luck on the way too - bergkamps pen in the F.A cup semi and bayern hitting the post twice but its surprising how lucky good teams are.liamlion wrote:headhunter wrote: liverpool v united was 0-0 wasnt it? roy bust his foot in a tackle...
Yeah, youre right mate.

...Do you think it might be something to do with the fact that Roy Keane as the centre-piece of Manchester United consistently did the business by amassing 7 league titles, 4 FA Cups and 1 Champions League within 10 years. During which period Utd did The Treble - a feet only matched in European football by Porto, Bayern Munich and Celtic.
If any person or team is given hype or recognition, then surely such a record would justify such adulation!
Its nothing to do with the fact that Utd were the first English club to win the European Cup, showcasing genius players like George Best??headhunter wrote: man u have been the darlings of the english press since the munich disaster in 58, the country too had a lot of sympathy for matt busby`s men and thats why they have so many fans from outside manchester.
What a load of bollocks. Anybody can receive such "tin pot honours" if the Government is petitioned by lots of people. As I recall a lot of Utd fans were "bothered" about such honours and hence they put Fergie forward.headhunter wrote: its funny how ferguson and busby were both knighted but bob paisley wasnt or even bill shankly for that matter. not that anyone around liverpool is bothered about tin pot honours its just a indication of how much sway united hold in the corridors of power.
None taken.headhunter wrote: no offence mate...
