Calzaghe has respectable power, but look at his record he has 2 clean KO's in 40 wins. That is not a devastating puncher in anyones book.
I did not say he was an artist so therefore your going off an assumption.

I didn't say he was devestating though either.

ya getting owned here max.

just admit calzaghe's power is good, but nothing special. Thumbs Up

lacy KO6
I said did me just say about his power.

Even if he lost which I doubt, he wouldn't he Ko'ed that quick.

I noticed people hardly mentioning Lacy's defense though and saying there worried about it a bit and saying Sheika and Vanderpool found him easy to hit too.

You did say Calzaghe "puts them out" that is a reference to a knockout is it not? Man this thread sucks. :-?

I know it's already been covered but it's the first time I've looked at this thread so I have to say that if anything that shot that Lacy took lends credit to his chin.

It was a huge punch from Sheika and Lacy recovers fantastically!

But Joe beat Sheika in 5 and Lacy had to go to points and Lacy gets shook there by Sheika which means Lacy is not ready for Calzaghe. :P

With logic like that Nick, surely ITV have an analysts job waiting for you? :TU:

You all know your fighters on here so here's the thing.

Years ago a few U.S posters I would speak to said that Lacy has a suspect chin. This was noted early in his sparring when he had only a few fights to his name.
I've been saying on this basis since that he will get exposed.
It hasn't happened yet and that's all good for Lacy.

Has anybody on this forum heard this about Lacy??

Sheika did bang him with a flush shot and credit to Jeff he battled through.
One of the few punches that Reid got through landed on Lacy too. I just hoped Reid could have put a few more of those together. The point with those two is their accuracy, they don't sustain accurate clusters of shots like JC does.

If Joe put them together I really think Lacy will be in serious trouble.

In Lacy's favour he has great power BUT he is crude and his shots can be seen from a mile off.

I have never heard question marks about Lacy's chin. Just have a look at the guys neck for a start he can take a shot.

Granted he has a big neck but that doesn't guarantee a weak/strong chin.

Yes I'd heard the chin rumours too. Based on him getting iced a few times as an amateur apparently ( Alan Green was it? ) seems to hold a shot well in the Sheika clip though.

Calzaghe is a fast starter, and I think he'll jump on Lacy early & try to catch him cold - worth a shot while his hands are good I reckon, then he's always got plan B to go back to.

Yeah that's one of them :TU:
I like Lacy's style but am yet to see him box.

Not always, but it certainly helps. If Lacy had a suspect chin he would have been dropped plenty by now. He takes chances and leaves himself open to get his own shots in and in return takes punches. Sheika landed a few bombs on him and barely moved him and he's a pretty hard puncher.

True true. Like I said I like his style although ya can't say that Sheika shot at the start of this thread hardly moved him. :D

It shook him he took a step back and recovered instantly. That is a good chin. That would have dropped a lot of fighters at 168.

"Had to go to points" is not an argument in favor or against anything. The way Beyer made Sheika look like a schoolboy, for example, was pretty impressive, and most KO victories are not more impressive than that.

But then it's true: Lacy's win over Sheika was not terribly impressive. Hence I also feel the Calzaghe fight comes too early in Lacy's career. As I said to Max, picture Calzaghe in that situation, who could get two or three hands in there instead of only one, giving Lacy no time to regroup.

Still reckon he would have looked worse if he was in the middle of the ring. More stumble space

Yeah he has put out 31 out of 40 fighters out with his punching speed and power.
was hoping/knew you would say that as it gives me the opportuinty to flip that remark in regards to Sven Ottke. Joe Calzage's two biggest fights so far? Arguably Brewer and Mitchell. Who beat them first? Definitely Sven Ottke. So when you talk about Jeff beating Joe's retreads you put into sharp focus the fact that Joe did the same with Ottke. Now you willprobably say Ottke beat them in Germany and controversially. That Mitchell stoppage was pretty controversial though wasn't it? Joe has finally gotten a big fight and you should get on your knees and thank god for the fact that Lacy is a fighting man because if he had not been willing to come over here for this fight Joe would be fighting TBA once again.

Yeah and Ottke did the same with Joes opp like Reid, Starie and Thornberry I think(correct me on that one) so whats your point on that? Ottke was as bad on doing that as Joe.

Mitchell was out and was going to be even worse if the ref didn't stop it. You saw no complaints from the crowad about the stoppage Mitchell was out on his feet.

Ottke beat alot contriversally but thats nothing to do with here.

I'm glad he's fighting Lacy and it wouldn't of been so hyped up if Lacy wasn't a titilist. Finally though is exagerated as he's had a few big ones before like though.

Give it up for fucks sake, he has stopped 31 opponents he hasn't "put them out". Putting someone out surely means knocking them out. He has KO'd 2 and TKO'd 29. Stop posting on this thread FFS! If you backpedal any further your chain will come off!! :-?

Max mate no offence but you gone off on one in here

The clip proves that Lacy can take a punch. I think Lacy and Calzaghe both deserve respect. No need to talk down any of them.

Yeah and TKO is putting them out on there feet or when there unable to continue or defend themselves thus being stopped.
The clip proves that Lacy can take a punch.
Yeah but he was shook and if that was Joe he could of been overwhelemed since Joe would of thrown more shots.

Yeah and Ottke did the same with Joes opp like Reid, Starie and Thornberry I think(correct me on that one) so whats your point on that? Ottke was as bad on doing that as Joe.

Max, my point is that you accused Lacy of making a reputation off retreads and when I rebutted you denied that Joe had done the same to Ottke. Suddenly you admit that Joe did do the same to Ottke but "Ottke did it first Miss!" Starie and Thornberry were not Joe's defining fights so far, the ones I brought up are and Ottke did the business before Joe.

So the Welsh crowd didn't go barmy about the stoppage? Hmm. Funny those Welsh aren't they? Did you think they were going to say: "smeg this Mitchell got the shaft!" and throw a wobbly? Mitchell was compas enough to protest it, Joe looked in worse nick than Mitchell did. Oh you said we saw no complaints from the crowad (or is that a freudian slip coward meaning sick-note Joe? Only kidding, you type fast).

Posting a link of Lacy getting hit by a big shot then composing himself is not a argument clincher. In fact I've yet to see you form a coherant argument about Joe's chances. He is not a concussive one-shot hitter, in fact with one shot Sheika might hit more solidly so the video clip is pointless. Plus if some Yank posted a clip of Joe getting decked versus Kalabry; or his wobbly knees versus Veit you'd be going barmy at them. All you have done is increase our respect for Lacy.
Yeah and Ottke did the same off Joe guys why should I deny it? It's what happens in the game, least Joe and Ottke are were more proven to see if Lacy's as good. Did it first Miss?

Doesn't matter if Starie and Thornberry wern't defining fights as I could bring up the same with guys Ottke fought first like Pudwill! I didn't say Ottke did it first either. I never denied Joe did and I've said it in past threads that they did but Joe didn't need dodgey scorecards past their prime or not. Ottke didn't always fight them first and Ottke didn't need to be borught up.

I didn't say the crowd in the Mitchell fight were Welsh and they couldn't all of been. Being Welsh doesn't make them all biased, Nickd says he's Welsh and he hates Joe. You can;t say the crowds excuse was bias.

I've gave valid and invalid enough arguements about Joes chances and I think Lacy mostly has a punchers as Joes the faster and more skilled fighter. I didn't say he was a one punch hitter I said you can;t deny he has POWER in them shots as you can throw as many as you, without power you won't hurt them much is what I said. Yet people say I misread.

The Sheika clip is not pointless as I've been reading that some people think Joe won't be able to hurt Lacy with his shots and assuming he'll just be able to walk through and land his big right. I like what Pundit said when he said he more worried about Lacy's defence saying that Joe COULD land more like than Sheika did.

So demean it all ya like.

Post a clip of Joe down I don't deny it, we just havent seen if Lacy can get up from one yet or faced anyone except Sheika who could really hurt him.
