Amatuer gloves are heavy, 10oz??? Has he ever even used a pair?
Khan weighs 9st, wheres he gettin power from? Hes lightin fast and with that speed brings some weight to his punch but being powerful? I think not!
Think back to ur school days and Newtons first law of motion:
F=ma (force = mass x acceleration) and plz dont tell me science is wrong!!
This will prove he has little power compared to a reall puncher!
Dont get me wrong, i tought he boxed really well and I think his future opponents need to start roughin him up and fightin in close to see how he handles it (this has already been mentioned in the post).
I think you will find F=MA is Newton's second law of motion. The first states "An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force."

Don't get me wrong Khans talent is huge hes just not a puncher hes more of a PBF/Hatton sort of accumulation job. What were they like after 6 fights???
Seen Mayweathers first 6 fights and he was good... Will have to rewatch them since I haven't seem them in a while but I think Khan has looked just as good as Mayweather did in the first 6 fights.
Interesting I'll have to look through forums to download a few of his early bouts. Its all about how Khan matures, he may be world class in a few years he may become complacent, time will tell.
On a sidenote I saw a 5fight 140lb black boxer named Rock Allen on KO TV the other week that kid had incredible power - looked like the 140lb Tyson. Khan doesn't have power anywhere in that league. But then again Allen could be outboxed

Kid has ridiculous muscle at his weight. He boxes at 140-145 pounds, but he's built very well at that weight. He may not be the tallest guy around, but he's definitely carrying some power.
His brother, Tiger, used to box, they both won an amateur tournament back in the day that was shown on ESPN, must've been 8 years ago, but they both seemed very talented back then.

Only saw his last fight and no little about him but he does look world class in terms of a Ko artist. May come undone against slick boxers of course.

Ok for all those of u that think Amir Khan is a 'powerful' boxer (or any boxer weighing under 12stone) and i think its pritty much evryone out there check these dudes out!
Google: Zhang Guozheng and Nikolay Sokolov
These are just some of the most powerful men on the planet and they only weigh 69kg. They are powerful beacuse they can lift (squat, deadlift, bench press) more than 3 times there body weight!!! that is real power!
Saying Khan, Naz or whoever is powerful coz they can knock out other 9stone men is bulls**t.
Now these powerlifting boys arent boxers so in a fight or boxing match would get there asses handed to them by the top pro's. But I guarantee you naz couldnt even knock them out, There really are just to powerful!
SO everyone stop going one about Khans power and use the proper words which are SKILL and ABILITY!!! (which they all have alot of, which is why they are champs and Khan could be one day!)

Why in the fornicate would you compare guys strength outside of boxing, to a boxer's strength. Nicolay Valuev is 324 pounds, but I guarantee I can find 10 names in the NFL of people who could out lift him...but in the boxing ring that means fornicating shit if you can't properly land a punch.
This has got to be the dumbest comparison I've ever heard. So much goes into punching power than just pure strength. You could be the strongest boxer in the world at 135 pounds, and if you have small hands and terrible hand speed, you punches won't have shit behind them for power...my god...

U prat! Im giving you a comparison of what real power is! I was told i cant compare Khan to Tyson cos there different weights and now i tell u a man the same weight that is even more powerful than tyson and valuev u say it cant be compared because hes not a boxer!!!!!
The word power should not be used in boxing beacuse boxers are not powerful athletes (with the exception of a few, such as Hatton) Ur example about strong boxers with small hands is true but i was talkin about past and future champs, not chumps! If Naz was as strong as the guys i mentioned he would have been killing opponents in the ring not just knocking them out! Why are all boxers stupid wen it comes to this topic about power!!!

BOXING POWER AND LIFTING POWER ARE TWO DIFFERENT STRENGTHS!!! You refuse to acknowledge that fact. You think a guy who lifts 400 pounds 85 times can go out and hit 50 homeruns in a baseball season...NO! Why? Because he still has to hit the ball. Very relative to boxing. A guy can be as strong as an ox...does that matter at all if he can't land shit for punches? No.
Gerald McClellan, far from the strongest guy I've ever seen, 1 fornicating hell of a puncher with ridiculous punching power...why? Fast punch speed and HUGE hands for his size. Does he look like a power lifter by any means? God no. People are saying boxing power has to be rated on a relative scale, and you have not rated it once on that. You keep pulling out pointless extremes that have no bearing on true boxing power. OF COURSE TYSON WILL HIT HARDER, he weighs almsot 70 pounds more than Khan does, and has a ton more muscle. However, if Tyson cut weight to 135 or whatever pounds, do you think he'd carry any of his power with him? Or do you think Khan would have the same power at 210 pounds? No, because boxing strength is measured in relative percentages.
Outside of the ring, are boxers going to be the most powerful athletes? No, but does that matter? No. We are talking boxing power, not overall general purpose power.

Hatton isn't powerful, he's strong, there's a difference.
Like Scott Harrison. Harrison has bags of strength where he can muscle guys around the ring and physically impose himself on them but he doesn't have punching power and it is power.

Here ya go, Adoniss, prepared to get schooled.
Bruce Lee, the guy weighed MAYBE 140 pounds at his heaviest. However, he could bicep curl 80 pounds 8 times, which would calculate out to one repitition of 110 pounds. That puts him in the 100th percentile of people weighing 123 to 140 pounds. That means he walks by 100 people in teh street who have the same weight as him, he is stronger than all of them.
However, how many power lifters can bicep curl 110 pounds with their weak arm like it's nothing? I'm sure Magnus von Magnussen would have no problem whatsover.
HOWEVER, who would you consider to be more powerful, the guy who can lift 95% of his own weight with one arm, or the guy who could probably lift 33% of his?
It's all relative.

What u just said makes no sense my friend! U've contradicted ur self and missed many of my original points. read my threads again and u will see i have said the ability to knock someone out comes from the skill and technieque of the boxer but that the power amplifies this skill!
I not gunna repeat my self, read the threads and put it all together!
In summary boxing power and strength power are completely the same with technieque being the influental factor that determines ones punch power!

How did I get it wrong. You basically said small boxers have no pwer in relation to bigger boxers, and guys who don't box but power lift...NO fornicating SHIT...that's like saying the sky is blue and grass is green.
However, to say they have no power for that reason alone is trite. Power in boxing is not compared to that of power lifters, nor should it be. Who's gonna kick a soccerball further, Beckham or Nicolay Valuev? Please, dear god, say Beckham. However, would anyone say Valuev is powerless because he can't kick a ball the length of the pitch? No way. That's basically what you are arguing.

Power and strength are completely different. Strength is how much you can lift and shove etc and power is the sheer amount of force you can put behind something such as a punch. You don't knock anyone out with strength, you may weaken them by imposing yourself on them but it is the power more often than not that knocks them out.

small boxers have no physical power in relation to anyone! But they hit hard (hard to another small boxer anyway) coz they have excellent technieque and skills. Now Enough about this bloody subject. I dont care anymore!

Powerful punchers tend to have a bunch of early KO's...of Hatton's 31, how many came before the 4th round (i.e.: 1,2 and 3)...12, and of his 12 I believe 8 came in his first 12 fights as a pro. Hatton is a strong boxer who wears you down, but doesn't have great 1 punch power. Gerald McClellan was a powerful puncher, seeing as he had all but one of his 29 KO's come in the first three rounds against some very good competition. The fact he put out Julian Jackson in the first proves that, after already having put him out once in the 5th a few fights before.

Completely wrong. Punching Power cannot be optimised purely by physcial strength and mass. There is a science behind punching, which is epitomised by martial arts. Have a read of this article
http://www.wckfc.com/article/speed/speed.htm This should clear things up for you.
'Relaxation unlocks more power and speed than can be imagined. A contemporary law derived from Newton's second law of motion (the kinetic energy formula) basically states that force equals mass multiplied by acceleration squared or force equals mass times acceleration squared. In other words, to increase your force, you must increase your mass or acceleration. To increase the mass behind an attack, one must relax. Relaxing the muscles has the same effect as increasing mass. For example, if you pick up a sleeping baby, you will notice that the baby seems heavier asleep than awake. In terms of fighting, properly relaxed muscles add greater amounts of mass or heaviness to the fist creating an increase in kinetic energy.
Another way to increase the mass of an attack is to increase the velocity of the attack.
In fact, an increase in the velocity of an attack has a much greater impact on the force than an increase in mass. So why then will relaxation help increase speed and power? The answer is simple. When muscles are tense, they work against each other. When they are properly relaxed, they don't To observe the effect that tenseness has on the velocity or absolute speed of your attack, tense the fist as tightly as you can. Notice the cords in your wrist poping out. Without loosening the tension, try to throw a punch. Now relax your arm and throw another punch and notice the difference in speed.'
Of course good conditioning and weight training can help, but the key is the art of throwing the punch. A naturally fast and fluent fighter like Khan is looking pretty powerful to me, not devastating but very capable of KOs. And of course he is getting stronger and growing all the time.
One last point, some people simlpy have natural strength disproportionate to their size. These people do not have to keep on top of conditiong and do not always look powerful, but can have a deadly knockout.

Adoniss (I presume that's a deliberate misspelling, by the way), why don't you stick to bodybuilding forums? Because that seems to be the limit of your understanding, and the way you judge everyone. You're looking at everything as who can lift the most, and who works out the best. Nothing to do with boxing. I can only presume you're 15 and know fornicate all. All this talk of smaller fighters having no power...... seriously.

Yes i wanted to spell adoniss wiv 2 's'.
now i have never said what determines the skill of a boxer is how much he can lift. Of course that is non sense, being strong and powerful doesnt mean u r a good or hard hitting boxer! But It determines how much power a skilled boxer can generate! If u combined the skill of Naz with the conditioning and power of those guys i mentioned u would have a human machine that would be droppin heavy weights at 69kg!
Why is everyone confussing what i am saying! Now my original point was Khan is not powerful, just very fast and skilled. His speed wont generate that much extra power! Im gettin the impression that theres a lot of small boxers on here that dont really hit that hard!
Oh and by the way i know very little about bodybuilding i am in fact a boxer not a bodybuilder!

i think u will find that pritty much every 350lb powerlifter would dissolve it, not just break a board an inch away! U ppl seem to know very little about other sports and discipline. These are some of the most powerful humans on the planet. doesnt take much skill to break a board fool. It seems no one on here really understands the true meaning of the word 'power'.
