EH?! You imbecile! Joe fought world champion and absoltuely demolished him in the most comprehensive way possible. Was lovely to add Lacy to the rest of the ex world champions he has beat. Now holding the majority of the belts at his weight he is getting the huge recognition he deserves. Well done Joe.

Yes, Lacy was a world champ...who'd he beat for that belt?
Anyway, just because Lacy was a World champ doesn't make him one of the best in the World....for fornicate's sake Trevor Berbick won a world title, and he's a joke who milked a career off of beating a decrepid Muhammed Ali.

Im glad you finally admit that you found Joe's performance a hard pill to swallow. You are astonishingly jealous! I love it!

Let me edit your text slightly to bring it in line with the facts:
EH?! Joe fought
a limited, hand-selected slugger and absoltuely demolished him in the most comprehensive way possible. Was lovely to add Lacy to the rest of the
limited, hand-selected sluggers he has beat
en. Now holding
two minor belts at his weight, he
will get the recognition he
craves only if - at long last - he takes a serious challenge in a non-handselected fighter, such as Mike Kessler. Anyway, well done
F.rank Warren

You are doing your American friends on Current Scene no favours. If your post above was serious, your knowledge and ability to judge the competence of a boxer is severely retarded.
You were crowing about what Lacy was gonna do to Joe. You seriously underestimated Joe, and in my book that is where you showed your ignorance in assessing the capabilities of fighters. Lacy shouldnt have been in the ring in the first place.
I wont bother to respond to any of your further posts, but will read them for the purposes of amusement.

"Calzaghe also hasn't fought a fighter as good as Lacy yet either. He suits his style now, but I bet once the first good shot from Jeff catches Joe C., he'll change his tune real quick. I don't think this fight comes too early at all. He's always been a fighter, and won't sit there and take time off when he doesn't need too. "

I've said a million times, I overestimated Lacy. How many times more will I have to make that point? THe fact is that Joe's camp knew Jeff was more limited than anyone else thought, and knew they could take Jeff. If they truly expected it to go that well, then kudos to them, but not many could see it going that bad for Lacy.
Still, does it change the fact that Lacy won the VACANT IBF title after not even winning his eliminator bout with Tsypko? Nope. After looking at a lot of things, and using hindsight, and admitting I hated picking Lacy and forced myself into buying into hype, I still wonder what the fornicate I was thinking. I still like Lacy and hope he can get his career back on track...but the fact this guy is doing nothing but spouting off incoherently the same line over and over is retarded.
So if you don't feel it necessary to reply, fine by me. Just 1 less person I have to say I was wrong to for the 65 millionth time.

Go read anything I've said since after. Have I not said 600 fornicating times to people I respect a helluva lot more than you that I didn't like my choice with Lacy, but I felt that his shortcomings as a fighter wouldn't be as big a hinderance as they were? I have more than enough accepted I was wrong, but some UKers don't want to accept the fact that Lacy was overrated and Warren knew he was more one dimensional than many others thought....get a camera, take a picture...MYSELF INCLUDED IN THOSE WHO THOUGHT JEFF WAS BETTER THAN HE WAS.
So, go ahead and read that quote, over and over, but the fact remains that the threat of Lacy coming in was far greater than anything he actually presented in the ring. I actually think if Joe let Jeff win a few rounds, it would've been better for him...sometimes a complete domination can be worse than a close win.

C'mon bud dont be daft, you cant spin it like that and make out Lacy was just a crap fighter. He only looked a crap fighter because Joe made him look it.
Lacy was a genuine challenger, Joe thought he was stepping up and taking on a legit belt holder. He even said he lost sleep up till fightnight because he was nervous.
It proved Calzaghe fights his very best when he has butterflies, it keeps him on his toes.

Quick checklist:
1) Admitted was wrong about Lacy: check
2) Joe came out with much more fire and has a better chin than I thought: Check
3) Realized the shortcomings in Lacy's fight game were far greater than I originally thought: check
4) Warren picked Jeff because he presented the best style matchup for, as previously commented on by Joe himself: check
5) Admitted I hated my pick of Lacy winning the second I made: check
6) Stuck with it by buying into hype, and comnvincing myself I made the right pick eventhough many arguments presented to me should've swayed me the other direction: check
I don't understand how I'm being contradictory at all. Admitting a mistake, as I have done literally 400 times now, is me basically saying I was wrong. But does being wrong mean I have to sit there and accept Joe as the god and savior of SMW boxing? No. I want Joe to prove his worth in a match up not "perfectly suited for" (as quoted by Joe) him.

I totally agree Joe was at his best, he came in with a great gameplan, and his style was a great way to beat Jeff. Everyone knows Jeff has slow handspeed, but how many thought he would look almost amateur in there with Joe? And why did Calzaghe fight the perfect fight? Because Lacy's abilities and style allowed Joe to do what he does best, and that is use his hand speed and have his much better than expected chin hold up for him and come out on top. Yes, that is the perfect fight against an obviously limited Lacy...I don't understand how the fact that Lacy is far more limited than many thought can be ignored, whihc you seem to be doing.
I'm not taking anything away from Joe, he did was 21 others could not, and no slouch could boss around Jeff like he did. But you also have to recognize that Jeff was extremely limited and it showed in that fight.

Tell me where I said Jeff was or the equivalent to the "bee's knees"...seriously. Yes, I said Joe hadn't be in there with a fighter as good as Lacy. Guess what? I bought into Jeff's hype, and that's all it turned out to be. I've said that 100 times already.
