Hamed v Robinson, although Robinson was older, more experienced, the champion and supposedly stronger, it was he who looked like the boy in there against Hamed.

Wasn't there some supposed shenanigans over the time he was given to prepare for the bout or something similar?

Yes, Robinson was phoned when Holidaying - he had 4 weeks to fight Hamed or faced being stripped.

Quite what Hamed did to earn Mandatatory status as a Featherweight is beyond me.

Robinson did know he had his mandatory due - but it was supposed to be an Italian geezer and either he lost (obviously not to Super Bantam Hamed) or pulled out injured (can't remember). Robinson thought it would have been a while the mandatatory situation would have been sorted.

Not only it wasn't ideal preperation but Robinson was righfully pissed off, I think Gardiner spent some of the early time focusing on trying to sort out the WBO - as Hamed hadn't fought at Featherweight - so again team Robinson seemed to spend alot of time in the media (in Wales) expressing their frustration.

They wanted the fight, but knew he needed to be sharp - which he clearly wasn't. Not that I think he could have beaten Hamed, he wouldn't - but he was very sluggish.

and didn't robinson only get paid his usual contracted wage for a mandatory defence.

the hamed fight was worth much more and was staged in a football stadium.

I love Paz's excuse to why he lost the Jones fight. He drank a load of coffee and the fight didn't start on time. So he said he was coming down of his caffeine rush and was sluggish.

You beat me to it Slapsie. Douglas was a former ABA champ and undefeated as a pro if I remember rightly, but it was crazy putting him in with a prime Graham.

On a separate note, I wonder if Lacy has watched the footage of Calzaghe in his corner referring to Lacy and his (lack of) power as "shit" - now that has to severely damage your confidence!

Yes, I remember Steve on local radio before the fight explaining just how unfair he`d been treated, not ideal preperation.

Robinson was well into decline before Naz, but he was very very unfairly treated.
A case of a fighter serving his purpose and being replaced by a younger ticket seller...so blatantly clear and ruthless.
