Your example of the Hijab and western women is not tenable - the women have hypothetically free choice to wear what they want....there are plenty of frumpy Western women too; the point is they CAN wear what they want, even a Hijab if they want. This choice is not available in many Islamic societies.

And I also question why you feel it is so reasonable to either convert to Islam or pay a fee?????? This seems completely unreasonable to me - the student analogy you use is tenuous; given that such a person (an 'infidel') is likely to be native to the land that Islam is taking over.

Anyway lets get away from Theology and look at reality and Islamic states and look at the extent of human rights abuses. Homosexuality is punishable by death in some states, an Afhghan Christian convert was almost put to death simply for converting, so-called honour killimgs etc etc. We do not see this kind of primitive oppressive violence in Buddhist, Hindu, Christian etc states. Look at the borders of Islamic states - they are on fire, how can we ignore that most of the world's conflicts involve Muslims?

I don't buy that you should respect people's religion talk - to me, ALL organized religion is a social control, backed up by unscientific scaremongering myths - basically nonsense, and dangerous primitive nonsense at that. It retards progress with superstition and encourages irrational action.

The main difference right now is that in many Islamic societies, education is not free to all, and there is a lot of poverty, especially in rural areas. Where this remains the case, it will always be easier to rule a country from a religious text. Education and money tend (in the main) to decrease a societies interest in religion. 500 years ago in Western Europe, we were burning people at the stake for giving herbal remedies, and thundering into the middle east ransacking the holy land. At the time, the middle east was more affluent and civilised that Western Europe, things have swung the other way now.

My guess is that certain elements of the labour party know that he's a lame duck, and want to keep Blair there until a better successor can be groomed. There should be a leadership election, and lets see just how well Brown does.

There is also the fact that the electorate voted for Blair, and he is within his rights to serve a full term. The minute he announces a timetable, the lib dems and tories will begin tearing the labour party to pieces.

Without Blair the labour party would have remained unelectable, and with Brown they will become so again. The tories will get in next election, but only for 1 term before labour bounce back and take office again, Cameron will be seen for the fraud he is pretty damned quick.

There are two sets of picturs of me on redwatch one of witch was taken by Mark Collett Leeds BNP organiser and one By Tony Wentwoth former youth leader. In my expereance (I work with UAF) there are a fair few of the racist thug eliments in there activists on the ground (particularly in Halifax my home town).

The things which are said behind closed doors by the BNP are very sereouse indeed. the sute thing is just a visage otherewise they wouldn't be meeting with the renasonce movement in the United States and Jean Mari Le Penn

Where you from in Halifax Josh? I think the BNP partly got in, in Halifax as they were appealing on local issues that the other parties didn't look at. Theres some amount of racial tension in Halifax with white and asian kids growing up in completely different neighbouhoods. Asian kids used to beat up white kids coming down Gibbet Street and the Asian minorities in white halifax schools used to cop beatings as did Asian kids going down white council estates.

After Bradford Riots I remember taxi drivers saying a white guy would get in his cab ask to be taken down some council estate and there'd be a gang of white lads waiting and they'd beat the crap out of him with bats. I think relations in Bradford are a bit better these days as Asians are going up market and been less TP wannabee gangsters causing fights (although theres still an element of that).

Iv never had trouble on Gibbet street but I used to work in a community project down in Johns ward and so have a lot of mates out there. But on the whole pretty fair assesment of HX (im from outside Sowerby Bridge [so not propper Halifax realy])
