As has been inconclusively proven recently, money DOES NOT buy happiness. What you have to realise is that most celebrities, are by the very fact that they want or in most cases NEED to be famous are fucked up already.

You should watch that program about the happiness formula on BBC, it's very interesting. It's proven that the things that make us happy by and large, and things than money cannot buy.

Money cant buy happiness true but it fuckin helps. The opposite is true though not having any money is certainly depressing although thankfully not been there in a long time myself! These wankers dont know when they're born.

I'm seething they've cancelled it. I'm supposed to be going over for that. Apparently Danny Williams is now on the card but he'll be up against some bum. There looking for another bout but i can't see it being to great at this late notice. FUMING.

Well, what this new theory seems to prove, is that over a certain amount of money (and it's really not a great deal £10,000 a year over and above living expenses), extra money does not increase people's feelings of happiness. However, having a large social network, being married, having a career you enjoy doing, etc, are all BIG factors.

Nothing most of us didn't know already.

Ignorant nob. What does money have to do with depression? Money is not an intervention for mental health problems, it cannot alter deficits in seratonin. As MW said, for him to go on the raz that close to a fight, he obviously isn't thinking straight, he just cost himself a shed load of money, might lose his title and may end up being ditched by his promoter.

Moneys not the be all and end all but remembering back when I couldn't do anything because I had so little cash and I always fought with my ex over money.....money can certainly avert a great deal of unhappyness as countless people on the breadline always stressing and worrying over money will testify too

Having said that many problems all the money in the world won't make go away. I think allot of people have problems coping with life, thats why alcohols so popular.

Yes, this is true, however, it's also been found that when people no long er worry over money, they start worrying about much bigger issues which are harder to address, and become depressed. Someone living in a society where the only concern is to have enough to eat, get laid, and build your own house, has fornicate all to worry about, and most of their time is taken up with just living.

Trouble is, sting comes along and tries to save them, and the next thing you know their walking 50 miles to the nearest town to get crates of Coca Cola and buying Sattelite dishes and fridges to keep their Coke in, then the other tribespeople start worrying that they don't have a dish, or a fridge, or crate of coke, and the whole thing fucks up.

Talented Joan Guzman received a great deal of criticism when he withdrew from his mandated WBO super-featherweight title challenge against champ Scott Harrison. The fight, originally set for March, was rescheduled for this weekend in Belfast but Guzman - point blank not believing Harrison's pull-out excuse of a mouth infection - refused the rescheduled date and fought on a Golden Boy undercard instead.

Now, with Harrison's well-reported troubles resulting in his unsurprising final withdrawal from the Belfast card, Team Guzman feel vindicated.

Guzman said: "First of all, I hope that Scott Harrison gets whatever medical and professional help he needs to straighten out his life. For him and his family, that is more important than boxing. Second, I know there was criticism of me, my manager and my promoters when we decided, after three postponements by Harrison and his promoter allegedly, to fight Javier Jauregui on the De La Hoya v Mayorga HBO PPV show at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.

"Can there be any doubt that Team Guzman made the right choice in adding Golden Boy Promotions to co-promote me along with Sycuan Ringside Promotions? I could be sitting in Belfast today having trained off an on since last October for a world title that we believed would never happen. As it turns out, the real victim is challenger Gary St. Clair. I trusted in my manager, Jose Nunez, and my co-promoters and they were 100 percent correct. I look forward to my next fight under the banner of Golden Boy and Sycuan. And I wish Scott Harrison a great recovery from whatever demons he is battling."

there have been plenty of fighters before who have had issues and problems and fought thru them: Chavez was a boozer late in his career but rarely pulled out of fights. Duran was a party animal but always (in his prime) presented himself fit and ready - even if he did pul out against SRL with 'stomach cramps'.

Still, would boxing/ITV have benefitted from Harrison 'doing a McCall' on saturday night and refusing to box whilst weeping uncontrollably? No.

He has thrown away a decent career with good earning potential. Lets hope he can come back and concentrate on boxing and not boozing once again.

If Scotts probem was bugle and not booze, as some have inferred, then at least he has a good roll model in SRL.

Sugar Ray got into recreational hoovering during in his first retirement; he points to this as a reason behind his poor showing against Kevin Howard.

I know Harrison aint got the sugarman's skills but if he can come back half as well as he did then his career isnt necessarily up 5hit creek (although promoters might think twice before booking him..)

You obviously have never experienced or known anyone who has experineced depression.... you don't decide to be depressed, just as you don't decide to have other illnesses... often heavy use of alcohol and drugs is caused by depression... if someone is smug and happy with themselves why would they want to get out of their heads... we actually live in a depressed society but most people are too dazed to realise it...

Envy? Hardly. I'm more than happy with my lot. Everyone is entitled to their opinion ours differ on this subject obviously. But someone like Harrison who openly goes out and gloats about how loaded he is, talks down to everyone and generally behaves like a right pudendum gets no sympathy from me when it all goes pear shaped. Sorry if that riles anyone but Harrison has been an arsehole for a long time.
