You have to wonder whether Castillo amd his people thought Corrales would still take the fight like he did last time... but then Castillo does look positively ill in the photos and sometimes the body reaches a stage where you just cannot lose those last pounds... 10 years ago I could make 112... I'd have to chop a leg off now to do that... 8)

At some point boxers are going to have to fight guys their own size and run the risk that they may be smaller than others at their natural weight, just adapt to your division, don't boil down to a smaller one.
Great night? It was going to be an awesome night, warm day, England highlights (for those unlucky enough to be in work) and a huge fight. Now we've got a big sense of anti-climax. Cheers again Camp Castillo.

i was going to stay up & have a take away. now i'm merely going to set the timer and go to sleep. what a flop. Darchinyan's foe better be good

Agreed it would of been a great night, ah well Vic's opp has a very solid record, let's hope it makes up for Corrales-Castillo3.

I've spent the past week showing my girlfriend Corrales/Castillo fights, including 1 & 2 and got her proper up for it only for this to happen.
Pile of sweaty bollocks. Hope the undercard throws up some gems also.
What odds that Arum fooks Castillo off and makes Corrales-Cotto instead, good match-up

i actually think arum might go for cotto-hatton. he thinks hatton is very 'ordinary' cos he looked bad against collazo

It would have been fooking easy to weigh him, unless his team are a bunch of spakkers. The guy tried to cheat again, that's about the long and short of it, he was going to use Corrales' willingness to fight against Diego and put him at massive risk of damage.
Castillo is a cheating little smeg. I'll not be watching his fights again.
Exactly.

Maybe they can show somethig on Hopkins Vs Eggerpopuplas!

Castillo even tried standing on the balls of his nfeet!..

I think the most significant fact regarding where the blame should go is that Camp Castillo somehow mislead everyone that he was on track to make weight. I overhead Bob Arum ranting that he had been assured that Castillo was 138 at the beginning of the week. I suppose the WBC deserve some blame for not treating the team as a bunch of cheats and checking weights with their own eyes & equipment but you don't weigh in 5 pounds over the limit by surprise. Camp Castillo knew but kept quiet.
The only question to figure out is why. If anyone can come up with one which shows Castillo & team in a good light please tell it.

This picture is a little out of focus as i had to be very quick to catch Corrales 'doing the Crouch' after succesfully making weight.

Terence were you feeling bitter towards Corrales after he blatantly cheated in the first fight?
They both could be accused of cheating, but fact is, Corrales DID cheat, Castillo MAY of cheated, or he may not of been able to make weight legit.

Probably timing how long it would be before "these stupeed gringoes figure out I'm going to fook everyone!"
A preview of Tarver-Hopknis would be nice, if they show the fight.
You don't seem to be seeing the whole picture... Castillo has fecked himself up as much as anyone else... I very much doubt he has planned all this as a upward career move. If anything he is at most guilty of believing that he could still make 135... he has probably been killing himself for the past couple of years to get down to that weight and the body just won't shift the last pounds anymore... either way you shouldnt brand Castillo a cheat, were you branding Corrales a cheat after the first bout?....

True, theres a good argument to say that Corrales should have been disqualified in the first fight!...

You would be surprised mate, I was in a fight camp this year and the guy was supposed to be getting check weighed and the checker kept turning up late and therefore taking the weight measurements from the fighters camp. In this case it was a honest camp but imagine if you had an unscrupulous guy?
I feel bad railing against Castillo now, not usual for me to be so harsh on a fighter but unless it comes that out he was injured/misguided or his camp are a bunch of fooking spakkers I'll feel bitter towards him for a long time. A Mexican fan on Current Scene went barmy, accusing him of being surrounded by "yes" men and cheating twice.
He was lucky versus Joel also
Maussa, why are you named after that pants Colombian?!
cos i couldnt decide on a username and i had just been watching VISCIOUS Vivian Harris get embarrassed by a class act called Carlos MAUSSA

Castillo and his people must have known in the days leading up to the weigh-in that he wasn't going to make the weight, after the last fight they must have been weighing him everyday leading up to this.
I think that they knew he couldn't do the weight but got him to wiegh in trying to force Corrales into taking a fight at a higher weight again.
I feel that Castillo's people have cheated on boxing fans here, imagine if you had paid out to go and watch this fight spending on hotel, tickets and flights, only to get stiffed like this.
Feel sorry for Shirow if he's spent a load getting to watch this farce.
And what happens to Corrales, will he get some money for this? or will he be out of pocket even though this is no fault of his.

I know Promoters have insurance against these type of things - do the fighters??..Doubt it!..
Castillo is a cheating mofo and that is basically it.
He was hoping to fight at the higher weight and get pd $600,000.00
That is still good money as a Champion - let alone the challenger!.
Say it after me..
CASTILLO IS A CHEATING MOFO - NO DOUBT..

Yeh, right!..

a very considered opinion that is!!. so what exactly has Castillo gained through his cheating??.... I doubt he'll be in any big matchups any time soon and he hasn't regained the 135 title that he lost due to Corralles dubious behaviour... so what exactly has Castillo gained!??....
...this is more the case of bad management and greedy promoting than crafty planning on the part of Castillo!...
I have sympathy for the fans who have lost money on this etc but they should be looking for answers from the WBC rather than Castillo....

yeah, of course, he planned to get fined, scupper the fight, earn no money for his 6 or 7 weeks of training, get thrown out by his promoter with a poss fight with miguel cotto on HBO in the works
of bloody course he did, mon!
ppl also get stiffed by the contant pull outs of british fighters
f_ucking hell, what a week. 2 potential classics - calzaghe-johnson & castillo-corrales 3 - called off. at least we can console ourselves with a pair of british mini classics in Anderson-Muttley and Hobson-Keaton (though I always felt Keaton started showing his age when the Silent Era was over, Hollywood joke lol). anyhow, we've had it better than we realized & we should be thankful for our gritty and determined domestic fighters

Who knows, perhaps undue pressure was put on Castillo to take this fight at 135... the people around him must have known what he was going through to make 135... there is a simular situation happening with Cotto... a lot of the time fighters have to go along with what their promoters and managers say and the truth is most managers and promoters are guided by money rather than what may be better for their fighters... yet it is the fighters alone who are asked to put their health and their lives on the line..... so those who think its clever to call a proven warrior a cheat should do some thinking imo...

So Bob Arum " I WAS LYING THEN BUT I'M NOT LYING NOW " the honest, genuine upstanding promotor is gonna dump Castillo? If i was him i would come in well over the weight again just to ensure that Arum never even lowers the tone of his life by talking to him. IMO any split with Arum would only benefit Castillo, who can only consider the brave Mexican as no more than a lump of meat.
Any miguided smpathy towards fat Bob should have been consigned to the garbage can when he grassed up the other guys in the Bobby Lee / IBF case.

Castillo seems to have been saying that making the weight was killing him for years now and yet his promoter etc still goes and gets him fights at 135 and then acts all surprised when Castillo cant make the weight. What if Castillo had made the weight and then got killed in the fight?... would that have been better for boxing?.... I'm actually thankful that Castillo didnt make the weight and the fight didnt go ahead because anyone with any sense can see that this is a matchup just waiting for an accident to happen... how many other fighters have paid the price of making the weight... how about Leavander Johnson recently....

i agree, i've been saying similar things. duk koo kim and jimmy garcia died after punishing fights that they had to drain themselves to the bone for. i think Leavander may have been damaged by the Jauregei fight, and then the drawn out beating to Chavez. Not sure if it was weight with him, more like ppl allowing him to go on.
everyone's slamming Castillo, everyone seems to want a drained Castillo to get KTFOd, all these bleeding hearts for 'Mouthpiece' Corrales. but if Castillo was seriously damaged we'd have a Fockload of sentimental posts & articles online, as if anyone gives a smeg

Completely agree.
(From the Las Vegas Review-Journal)
http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/ ... l
No joke: Castillo before first being weighed looked as though he stood at death's doorstep.
Problem was, he wasn't standing. Try lying down with a towel over his head.
Try not being able to sit up without serious assistance.
Emaciated doesn't begin to describe his appearance.
And he still came in nearly 5 pounds over.
