I don't know where this fixation comes from about Wright being hurt late in the fight. Taylor is the guy who fades down the stretch. I think too much is being made of this supposed strength/size advantage. I'll be very surprised if Wright looks out of his division tomorrow night.

Prepare to be astounded then. Winky took a lot of shots against Soliman, luckily for him Soliman couldn't crack, and he was able to win the fight with his jab, he will be forced to fight a lot harder against Taylor, unless of course Taylor mentally unravels and goes negative after being jabbed, but I find that hard to envisage.

Taylor will stop him.

Wright was reknown for being a huge and very strong light-middleweight. Though not a big puncher, Wright can punch with authority and I cannot see Taylor walking through Wright - no way, Jose.

Youre making out that Hopkins is some sort of banger? When in reality Hopkins is everything, but that. Im sure Taylor with have healthy respect for Winky's punch.
Hopkins is a banger, hes just very cautious. Look at his single punch kds - Allen, DLH - Hopkins knows how to use torque and was very strong at MW. Winky is reasonably strong for the weight but Taylor can really back up Wright and goto town imo

That is plain ridiculous - Hopkins in not a banger. Jeff Lacy, Naseem Hamed, Mike Tyson were all bangers. Hopkins is a tremendous defensive boxer wiith a respectable punch and yes, he is strong - but he is certainly not a banger and the fact he stopped a blown-up welterweight in the shape of Oscar De La Hoya does not prove otherwise.

He flawed ex-marine Robert Allen with 1 shot, he has 1punch power Winkys power is probably 1/3 of Hopkins. Hopkins is like Eubank in he uses his power sparingly but when he does he can close the show, no ones saying BHOPs punches like tyson/hamed but his power is far greater than Winkys

BTW saying Lacy is a banger shows a lack of boxing knowledge.

What a cock!

The fact Jeff Lacy's nickname is 'left-hook' sort-of tells you what he's about. Type into google the words "Jeff Lacy" and "banger" and you get will reams of articles from many knowledgeable and authorative boxing writers who describe Jeff Lacy as a banger.

Oh yeah... and you saying Hopkins is a banger, isnt an example of you showing a lack of boxing knowledge???? People who live in glass houses...

Am I missing something?
not really...i heard taylor was favored last week & i think odds are fluctuating, probably much like the close, competitive fight everyone expects!! taylor by close but clearcut decision!! :TU:
like i said a few days ago...the odds are fluctuating---latest odds (from link on boxrec home page) are taylor -140, wright +100 for friday 6/16...day before the fight and they could change again!!

Well, "The Entertainer", has come out and said Winky will make "A Mockery" of Taylor.
Don't think it's so straight forward for Wright, but a comfortable UD should be on the cards.

How you can compare Lacy in terms of power to Hamed and Tyson is beyond me

Tyson hit hard, so did Hamed, so did Mugabi, so did Benn, so did Nelson.

Sibson was a big strongbanger and so was Lacy (at a level)

I would put Lacy at just below Tony Sibsons level

On the basis that many of Lacy's opponents fell head-first into the canvas, like many of Tyson and Hamed's opponents did.

Funny when a puncher is compared to Tyson. They get hyped to hell like Tyson.

Except prime Tyson had some skill unlike these neanderthal like punchers.

well... close anyway!! taylor clearly won 10th over a very tired wright & the 12th by default (wright did nothing)...

Taylor loooked like a winner to me.

However, I only saw it from the 9th round.

Wright won the last two rounds, though didn't do much in the last. Taylor did fornicate all and admitted he couldn't see.

Very close fight.

I had Wright a fairly big winner... although was knackered when I was watching the fight. I thought it was a poor job on the commentary by Darke especially who seemed to forget that it was Wright pressing forward in the "dominant" Taylor middle rounds.

I thought some of those "Taylor rounds" were level based on Wright being the aggressor and Taylor on the ropes a bit too often.

A difficult rematch to predict, can Taylor pick it up and fight for 3 minutes a round (cause vs Hopkins in the rematch he couldn't)?, would a more counter punching role by Wright work vs Taylor?

Both could fight differently, and it would be hard to predict a rematch (which I think will happen, despite what Winky is saying in the heat of the moment).

Wright nearly got ko'd in some of those mid-rounds though, winky was walking forward because he knew he had to take away Taylors balance or he'd get taken out.

Was wrong on my prediction, it was very close, but I did have Taylor winning all the same, yes Wink was cleaner but Taylor hurt and bust up Winky even when he wasnt landing too clean. Think I had it around 7-5 taylor, the draws fair enough I suppose.

WW made a case for himself. But I felt Taylor deserved most of those middle rds. his shots were hurting Winky. Even if they half got through, a lot of these were scoring shots. WW made it hard to score by backin up Taylor and jumpig on him. But these were very light shots, and he kept ealking into better ones. My provisional score is Taylor 5 rds, Wright 4 rds, 3 even. Winky dominant over the first 4, Taylor took over and had had WW looking like he was having a hard time, then neither did anything in the last 2. So I have Taylor 1 rd up, but can't argue with a draw.

Taylor's proved his worth among the elite now. I had Hopkins a clear winner in the 1st fight, the 2nd was harder to score, and I had Taylor winning v Winky. That's 3 very difficult fights. I look forward to seeing him face someone stylitically more suited to him, so we can see Taylor shine, i.e. Soliman might be a good choice. Taylor, once overprotected, has proved his mettle and is undergoing a bit of a James Toney style crash course (referring to when Toney fought Sosa, Nunn, Reggie Johnson, McCallum twice) in top class boxing. This is make or break you kind of stuff and Taylor will only be better for the experience. He seems genuinely eager to learn, based on the way he wasn't plased with his perofrmance and poss needs time to grow with Steward.

If he could have a few fights where he can show off a more polished style, then maybe go for the Germany based champions, I would be happy.

I had it 5 rounds each with 2 even, but I conceed Taylor would have been hard done by had he lost his title. After losing the first 4 he did seem to win his rounds with a greater margin. If he'd opened up a couple of times in the last he'd have surely clinched a decision few would have complained about. He's going to regret that.

Great effort from Winky though to battle through the rough patches. I would like to see him hang them up now after 50 odd fights, he did look old in there at times. He has earnt some good money over the last couple of years and a DLH fight doesn't look at all likely at this stage.

Very close fight, had it 7-5 Taylor but was happy with draw. Agree with vicious, had they both bitten down hard in last 2 rounds they could of made it a classic.

Here's some highlights..
