That is fukin rubbish - the lot of it. Its people like you that allow promoters to feed us shite, 99% of the time. Hatton has avoided Witter like the plague.

Surely you clean up your own backyard before sorting out the rest?

Sure, Hatton probably is the most highly rated light-welter at the moment, but the division is ice-thin on talent (with the exception of Cotto - who will immenently move up). Yet Hatton is talking about building up to a super fight with a lightweight (Castillo)!! That is fukin rubbish.

How many excuses are used by Hatton and his loyalists to avoid Witter? Proper disgrace.

Hatton KNOWS Witter is too dangerous.

Forget Hatton.

Thats bullshit James, don't act like Hattons not fighting Witter to fight Mayweather, Cotto, Margarito, hes fighting way below Witters level - Maussa, Collazo, Urango and even Castillo at 140 are below Witter

So put Witter in with Collazo then.

Constructive criticism is one thing, but just slagging people off to vent your own anger is different again. Worse than those two though are pure ignorance or lies. Check Castillo's record, you will see that he has fought at higher weights than 140. In his last 3 proposed fights he has never weighed less than 139. He has been known to weigh 160 come ring time, heavier than Hatton usually weighs in the ring. As for Witter, if its that important to you why dont you and his other 37 fans have a whip round and pay Hatton say 2 - 3 million to fight him? Whether people think Hatton can beat Witter or not, the reality is in financial terms Witter is income support to RH's company director.

Youre the ignorant one. Castillo has had ten world title fights and guess what? They were all at Lightweight - interestingly none at light-welter. I know the man has weight trouble, but he certainly never made his name at Light-welter - to argue otherwise is pure rubbish. And rather than talking about 'proposed fights', in Castillo's last three ACTUAL fights he has weighed less than 139lbs on every occassion.

You are a fool. Why ever, as a boxing fan would you be concerned about what Hatton is earning? You can not put a price on reputation and credibility - Hatton has a shadow hanging over him in terms of Witter, and he refuses to deal with it. When questioned about this, Hatton has used every excuse in the book to rubbish the fight.

Why mention Witter's lack of fans? In England, the fight will sell out no problem. Remind me just how many fans did the likes of Mikhail Krivolapov, Jason Rowlands, Joe Hutchinson, John Bailey (etc, etc) bring? Please tell me if Im wrong, but im sure these lads didnt have armies of fans, yet these fights were still sell-outs - earning Hatton millions of pounds.

If Hatton had any pride he'd jump at the chance to fight Witter and shut him up... but the plain fact is Ricky is only interested in the money and is well aware that Junior has the skills and style to beat him, ...so its unlikely the fight will ever happen.... which is a disgrace and a huge blot on Rickys 'legacy'... how can he say he's the best in the world when he hasnt even proved himself the best in Britain???.... answer, ...he can't!... :box: :box: :box:

If Eubank had refused to fight Benn, imagine the uproar that would have caused. But Hatton has avoided Witter for years and his fans continually make excuses for it. I don't understand how anyone can justify Hattons refusal now.
Exactly, its totally unpardonable... and to say its because Witter isnt a ticket seller is just laughable... just look at Hattons record... how many 'ticket sellers' has he actually fought!!?.... was Maussa a ticket seller?... etc etc!....

Ignorant, and a fool i may or may not be, but i can fvckin read. Of his last 10 fights at Lightweight Castillo has been over that weight in 5 of them. Unlike you i am not spouting an opinion i am reading the FACTS. That is half, 50% or whatever else you want to call it. That does not sound like a blown up lightweight to me. It sounds like someone who is killing himself to make 135.
As for Witter i couldn't care less if he gets what he wants or not, he NEEDS Hatton, Hatton does NOT need him.
When a great man like Roberto Duran says "any fighter that says he isn't in it for the money is a liar or a fool" that is good enough for me. It is all about money and Witter cant generate as much as Hatton. Get over it.

You're talking rot sir, is Urkal a bigger seller than Witter??..... was Maussa or Collarzo???.... be real, nobody knows or cares much about most of the people Hatton has faced, but he's gone ahead and fought them just the same... and anyone who doesnt think that Hatton vs Witter would be a big seller here is dreaming, or else just making up stories to try and excuse Ricky for his blatent ducking of Junior!...

I agree with the last few posts. Hatton wants us to pay to see him vs Maussa and now bloody Urango. It's a slap in the face for British fans. If he's going to make money out of a fight with Urango, what of a fight with Witter? Would a Witter fight somehow not be as lucrative? Would a Witter fight bomb, because Witter might - God fvcking forbid - box thoughtfully? Hatton has no qualms asking us to pay for him to 'collect belts'.

thing is, Castillo may have already killed himself once too often. it was a superhuman effort to move DOWN to 135 to beat Lazcano, Diaz, Casamayor and come to within an inch of knocking out Corrales, until getting beaten by a gumsheild.

I'd love to see castillo at 140 & hope he can perform with renewed vigour, but it might be a pipe dream.

I very much doubt Hatton will fight Castillo... its a pipe dream to keep the punters interested... the fight Hatton will probably go for if he has the chance is Gatti... if Gatti's people are foolish enough to allow it... Castillo, like Mayweather and Cotto and Witter is just too dangerous a fight for Wicky.

How many of you doubters, who are saying Hatton will NEVER fight Witter, were saying the exact same thing 2 years ago about Hatton NEVER facing Tszyu?

Come on now, be honest! :D

thing is, HBO have delayed his Urango fight till next year just so they can fit Castillo on the undercard.

I personally could not give a flying toss about all the Hatton haters or their opinions on here. I have been asked in relation to Castillo, whether or not i can read. YES its very EASY if you look at the last 10 of Castillo's fights from Mayweather to Rolando Reyes you will see IN THE COLUMN ON THE LEFT his weight at the WEIGH IN in 5 of them he weighed 135 or less, in the other 5 HE WEIGHED MORE than 135. Hatton haters are mouthing off on here saying he would rather fight BLOWN UP Lightweights as opposed to Witter. As Castillo's name is being put forward as a future opponent i would say that is bullshit criticism.
Now lets address another inconvenient fact. Hatton has signed a 3 fight deal with the AMERICAN TV company HBO, with a possible one off PPV event to follow. So he has been reasonably criticised for his first one against Collazo, people are probably justified in saying his next attempt is not much better in Urango. So I know lets approach the Execs at HBO and say " Tell you what gov we got the answer. We'll fight the world renowned superstar Junior Witter for our 3rd fight in the US and no one will bother watching it." Very clever :TU:

I'm a big Hatton fan, much more so than Witter who I am delighted to have seen win a world title, he deserved it. But, whilst I can understand why Hatton didn't bother with a matchup with Witter in the past, I can not see any excuse why it should not take place now. Witter is now a genuine world title holder and Hatton is in going down a blind alley lining up a maybe fight with Castillo. Beyond that Hatton has too few options apart from going up to WW again. Hatton-Witter will be big in the UK and will attract enough interest Stateside, primarily because Hatton's involved, to make it lucrative all round.

Light Welterweight is Britains strongest division and we can't even say who's the best in the land. Its unbelievable

I was at the Tszyu fight and Ricky came on the mike at the end of the fight and said how he couldn't have done it without the fans and thanked everyone. Well how about giving the fans what they want and fight Junior Witter in the BIGGEST all-British fight ever!!!

Due to the switch to sky and Witter's fighting style it will never be the biggest domestic fight ever. Nothing I fear will touch Eubank vs Benn 2 or even Lewis vs Bruno.

It is nice to see a reasoned post regarding Hatton Witter instead of senseless ranting. Even if the fight can be made it wont be until late next year, and that is assuming Hatton wins against Urango plus whoever his 3rd contracted opponent may be. IMO Witter will not impress HBO enough for him to be included in the 3. If Hatton does impress in the next 2 fights for HBO, he has an option to fight a mega fight on a PPV card. It would seem realistic to assume all things being equal that fight would be versus Mayweather or Cotto. That leaves Junior Witter well into 2008. To expect Hatton to renage on his contract, or throw away the chance of a mega fight, is not only unrealistic, frankly its stupid.

The double standards of some here is quite amusing.

A few months back, when Cotto was being lined up to fight Castillo, everyone was creaming themselves.
Now Hatton is lined up to fight Castillo(a fight I genuinely beleive is possible)he is taking the easy way out!!!
Since when has Jose Luis Castillo been an easy option?
Hatton-Witter is a big fight in the UK
Hatton-Castillo is a big fight WORLDWIDE

Witter needs to impress Hattons paymasters before they will accept him as a challenger to Ricky.
Knock a couple of guys out in your first 2 defences in style, then there is absolutely no excuse for the fight not to take place in the future.

The bottom lie in this whole Hatton/Witter debacle is(and alwasy has been)-Junior Witter needs Ricky Hatton FAR more than Hatton needs Witter.
Hatton is the draw,Witter could'nt sell out a phone booth.
And when you have beat an all time great like Tszyu, then fighting(and probably stopping IMO)Witter would prove absolutely sod all.

Thats bullshit James, don't act like Hattons not fighting Witter to fight Mayweather, Cotto, Margarito, hes fighting way below Witters level - Maussa, Collazo, Urango and even Castillo at 140 are below Witter
So put Witter in with Collazo then.
Collazo doesnt even have a belt now and hes not at 140 (where Witter wants to fight) the fight would be pointless.

Oh and what happened to Hatton promising Collazo a rematch?

Castillo would still be BIG size wise at 140, the point is he is UNPROVEN AT 140!!! Hes only proven on beating up on smaller competition and when he has stepped up has been schooled by PBF/Cassamaya (cass robbed) and Ko'd by Corrales.

It would be a good fight, but Hattons cherry picking opponents.

And can we get over the fact he'll never fight Floyd Mayweather, hes been offered it 4+ times already and turned it down pre-negotiations. Hes not going to fight him now hes slowing down (and he is)
