Mayweather is only a bigger draw than Hatton in the US. Unfortunately most Americans actually BELIEVE that the world starts in New York and ends in Los Angeles, as evidenced by 75% of them not even owning passports.
actually andy, I believe it starts in Boston MA as we are a bit further east. Where did you get the passport stat from?

Mayweather showed his ignorance when he admited he had NOT even seen the WRESTLING match that his motormouth spewed about, but had instead been told about it by his ass licking staff.
As for Hatton fighting Mayweather in the US, why would he? When american judges and referees are notoriously crooked, witness Lennox Lewis / Holyfield 1
As for Mayweather WANTING to fight Oscar,,,,of course he does. 1 fight in almost 4 years, 35 years of age, that would sound about right for the pretty things LEGACY. Far less threatening than say Margarito.
If you really think that someone that cant draw flies, but wants to cling on to his US boxing writers mythological p4p rating to demand that Hatton goes begging cap in hand to get a fight, where all the odds will be manipulated against him, you are niave to say the least. Hatton does not NEED Mayweather, despite what every American poster might tell you.
The 13 million demand was for a fight in the US, probably knowing that it would not be taken seriously. With the state of the dollar that is not a great amount anyway. However i have no doubt Hatton would ask a lot less if the fight were in Manchester. The chances of that happening though are less than nil, as Mayweather would never risk fighting outside the US, in case he got a referee that didn't want to stand back and admire his dancing, but instead let the 2 fighters do what their titles intended for them to do, namely FIGHT.
In fairness to mayweather, his recent fights have seen him sitting down on his shots a lot more, he handed Gatti and Judah fair old arse whippings, and his fight with Corley was surprising as it was one of the first times we had seen Mayweather stand and trade with an opponent.

As he's moved up in weight Mayweather seems more prepared

If reports are to be believed then Hatton received around 3 million sterling, not dollars for his fight with Collazo and against Maussa, so that's 6 million US dollars, so a fight with Mayweather would possibly net somewhere not too far from the 13 million he asked for, but not right now.

I think Mayweather is just jive-talking, he knows that the fight with Hatton isn't on the agenda just yet, and he is too busy begging Oscar to fight him.

A fight with Oscar would represent the biggest payday Mayweather is likely to ever receive, but Oscar as said earlier can earn a fortune for what will probably be his last fight, pretty much whoever he fights. Oscar is the Ray Leonard of his era, he can pick and choose who, when and where he wants to fight, dictate terms, and walk away with the lion share of a whopping purse every time.

Mayweather will have virtually zero clout when it comes to negotiating with Oscar, who can happily tell him to go screw himself if he gets uppity, which he certainly will.

Hatton needs to have some good action packed fights which are shown stateside, and ideally staged there if he wants to make a fight with Mayweather, because he knows that Floyd has a very highly developed sense of his value as a commodity, some would say inflated.
Here here, and anyone that thinks Hatton will go begging cap in hand to Mayweather the way Maywether will have too to Oscar is deluisonal.

My mistake, since May 2004 Oscar has had 2 fights, and will not have any until May 2007 which is when the proposed fight between him and PBF supposedly happens. Mayweather is having his 6th fight tonight in the same period of time, with perhaps another one in February. That is quite a difference.
You mean like Tyszu had 2 fights in 3 years prior to fighting Hatton?

I'll reiterate that theres probably only 2 opponents 154 and below that may be harder than Oscar and those are Dzinderuk and Mosley. Remember Oscar will also have a 15lb + weight advantage come fight night over Floyd and hes never been comprehesively beat below 160 despite facing the top P4P fighters.
Yep the very same Tszyu that Mayweather wouldn't fight  If you doubt that watch him squirm about it in the Brian Kenny TV interview.

Floyd was still at 135 when this questioning from Brian Kenny took place was he not?

Bigger draw = how much money that fighter can draw worldwide. If Floyd makes more worldwide hes a bigger draw.
Mayweather makes nothing outside or the US, and has no fanbase outside of it either. Hatton is building his fanbase in the US at this point in his career, though he wouldn't expect Mayweather nuthuggers to praise him. As Mayweather fights in front of much smaller crowds in the US than Hatton does in GB that is only a small # to worry about. :TU:

No they were immediately before and after the Gatti fight.

Anyone see Hatton on question of sport yesterday? He seemed to be in slightly better shape but I'm not sure when it was filmed, probably a week back. Silly bugger got the boxing questions wrong 8)

The point is your critiszing Floyd for fighting a man with 2 wins in 2-3years when Hattons best win is over a fighter with the exact same stats. Delahoya is also a greater fighter than anyone 154 or below thats why its a superfight and everyone on this message board would pay money to see it.

Floyd at some stage prior to Tyszu critisized Kostya calling him a 1handed fighter - he usually starts trash talk like this when he wants to fight someone as otherwise hes pretty respectful. Floyd planned to fight Tyszu after Gatti and he has made numerous offers to I havent seen the interview your talking about but Mayweather wouldnt have ducked Tyszu imo.

It doesn't matter if he earns little outside the US, the point is Mayweather earns more. I doubt Hatton will match $8m against Castillo to be honest.

BTW the Mayweather fight would make as much sense at the MEN as Hamed-Barrera would in Manchester. In Las Vegas where they may get $2-$5 as the venue fee.

If he got 6 million for Maussa and Collazo, there is no reason to believe he wont get 8 million for a Castillo fight. Those figures are quoted in this thread. Plus as the MEN holds more than any Vegas venue it makes plenty of sense, just a matter of negotiations.

Yes he got $5.5 (£3m) against Maussa/Collazo while taking 80-90% of the purse or whatever . Against Castillo he won't get as bigger percentage of the purse (maybe 60%) so even though the fight will be bigger - not that big Castillo doesnt sell that much (Corrales-Castillo didnt sell too many PPVs)

No the MEN doesnt make sense - the casinos pay more money because ofthe gambling money. Im sure Barrera-Morales would sell 50-100k of seat in Mexico but they still hold it in Vegas

I am not even remotely interested in the Castillo Corrales match. When Hatton has his 2 further fights on his 3 fight contract with HBO, he is then free to go for a PPV event. Castillo could be the 3rd one so he is guaranteed the 6 mill for that. The PPV event could be held anywhere, as 2 million dollars site fee is chump change should Hatton beat Urango then Castillo. That is a little over 1 million pounds. Hatton would forfiet that if it were to his advantage. As i said it will all be down to negotiations. Whilst on the subject of Morales / Barrera instead of saying how many would watch them fight in Mexico, try telling us how much they were paid in the wonderful Vegas for their first fight. I believe it was a miserly $400k each.

Looking at the pics, did Floyd get a forth WBC belt as they only show 3 and 1 IBF belt?
