I never talked up Tsypko, when Kessler was going to fight him, nor Joppy (ill fated Showtime debut)

He won the early rounds agasint a Beyer who seemed to be asleep, but Beyer was getting into the fight by the time Green crushed his face with a headbutt.
Beyer won the rematch (yes Green fought the wrong fight totally)

I suppose Green is a guy who can fight only one type of fight. More versatile folks like Beyer and Mundine will always beat him once they have figured him out.

How many did Calzaghe fight, was it one or two over his 9 year reign?
No he's not, Andrade is average at best. He better have a good chin, because he's stiff as a board and looks wide open.

Good fighter is Andrade, a far better fighter than Julio Gonzalez.

Is Andrade boxrec's most hated, after Antonio Margarito?

From what I have seen he reminds me of Lacy, but I admit that I have not seen much.

I'm sorry but please watch the replay of Kessler/Beyer if you think Beyer was KO'd. Beyer got caught with a good shot it's true, BUT he was clearly fine at 4, sat up and looked at his corner at 5, then proceeded to wait for the ref to count 10-- whilst still looking over at his corner-- BEFORE making a successful effort to get up. It is a perfect example of a fighter quitting after a KD.

This is a link to the version I have seen (sorry about the pic quality) cannot access all versions cause I am not a member.

I still don't agree. Either is a very slow count because Beyer looks pretty f'd by four (and they have cut to Kessler). Plus you never see Beyer get up, he is attempting to get up when the fight is waved and it cuts to Kessler. We don't see if Beyer staggers at all.

He looks gone to me, never did he look clearly fine.

Opinions is what makes the world go round though. :TU:

Beyer got up and walked to his corner. I don't think he was gone, otherwise why would he be looking longingly over to his corner? And why make the effort to get up after you've been counted out?
The KD even looked worse than it was because Beyer got caught square on and fell pretty heavily... it looks more like he's quitting everytime I see it.

This is storytelling. It is perfectly plausible that Beyer was confused and plain unfit to continue. You must have miraculous abilities if you can judge teh clarity of fighter's head and the steadiness of his legs by watching him sitting on the ring floor.

Get used to the thought: Kessler has real one-punch knockout power. Yet another quality that he does not share with Calzaghe.

He massacred Richard Grant inside a round, the same Grant who Lacy plodded after round after round.

Andrade looked like a light heavyweight in there. He took a lovely sidestep and clocked Grant with a right hand, and worked him over with a nice head/body assault.

I see Kessler-Andrade as a better version of Holmes-Cooney. Not going to be easy to stand in front of a big power puncher and outjab him.

3 years later and after suffering 3 more losses...how does that make the same Grant?

The only top 15 fighter Andrade has beaten is a 38 year old Otis Grant.

Yes, that has to be taken into consideration, but a good win all the same. I would've liked it if Andrade hadn't sat on his mandatory, however he cannot be blamed as he's stepped aside and has a right to a title shot.

Somehow, I get the feeling the ppl aren't feeling very welcoming about Andrade. In fact, ppl are quite vehement about rubbishing the guy. Which is a bit ridiculous considering that he is one of the bigger threats in a very exciting 168-pound division.

To be fair Taylor is a class or two above Kessler. I guess if one is making a choice between the two in terms of prestige and ability it's not exactly brain sugery... Taylor by a mile.

Prestige yes, money yes, US exposure, yes...but ability, maybe not. Taylor showed to be rather limited in his last fight, imo. To me, he's just an educated brawler. There are many fighters out there at 168 and 175 that could potentially outbox him, Hopkins, Adamek, Erdei, Dawson, Calzaghe, and Kessler being some of these fighters.

Total nonsense.

Kessler is a far more rounded and more mature fighter.

The only thing you can say about Taylor is he's 'more American.' lol

Taylor tired aganst Ouma and let the little guy on the inside. WTF would he have been like against Siaca, a bigger guy advancing on him, or even Lucas?

Taylor hasn't even learned to fight a tough, aggressive fighter yet. Kessler picks 'em off, handles them and hits them so many times they end up TKO'd.

The Ouma fight was an embarrassment and it put things in perspective for Taylor - i.e. it told him he's not ready for an elite super middle.

Posted: 22 Dec 2006, 08:10

Don't get me wrong, I like Taylor's promise. But he will not fulfill it unless he fights some of these guys Pavlik, Sturm, Abraham, Miranda, Carrera. Right now Taylor has a question mark next to him in Winky. I think Taylor can beat WW in a rematch, but until that happens super middle is a pipe dream.

Kessler - if he keeps winning - will only get better with difficult opponents like Andrade as his top contenders. Definitely a fighter for Taylor to worry about.

I can see Calzaghe outworking Kessler at a pace no fighter has given Kessler yet. Outworking Kessler will get him through that high or low guard he has.

Kessler leaves his chin open when he jabs due to his right arm moving as he does, wide open for a Calzaghe straight left.

Hasn't shown any or barely inside work at all and Calzaghe has great work rate on the inside.

Kessler didn't show he can cover against body shots too in the Beyer fight and just jumped in and out of range.

Kessler's style only works because of his footwork and Calzaghe's just as good if not better on the feet.

Ah, so now Kessler is better than Taylor? Oh how the hype continues to grow. This is the same 'limited' Taylor who drew with Winky Wright and beat Bernard Hopkins twice? Both of those boxers are 10 times better than anything on Kesslers record. Kessler might look great against hasbeens, plodders and mediocre 'boxers', but Taylor is a class apart when it comes to having been tested by the best. Just remember Hopkins and Wright were both p4p top 5 (if not top 3) when Taylor fought them, Kessler's not fought anyone in the top 30... ever.
Taylor would take Kessler at 168 (with room to spare) and he'd run Calzaghe pretty close.

Beyer did fall heavy, but he also looked to sit out the second half of the count - As someone pointed out, he does look like he decided to suddenly make the effort to get up once the count was finished.

No doubting he was hurt, but it did look a little like he thought to himself 'fornicate this' - Kessler got him at a perfect time, and I reckon the Beyer of 6-7 years ago would have given Kessler all he could handle.

As for Kessler, he has a nice jab, hard straight right hand. But he is ya typical upright European fighter - There are no angles and he doesn't seem to offer much on the inside - He's also very flat footed, and that to me is the key.

Calzaghe would beat him on points.

I have never seen Calzaghe boxing rings around anyone.

I have seen him carrying the fight straight to his opponents -- often much stronger ones -- and overwhelming them with handspeed and precision. The issue is, this isn't that easy with a fellow who fights Kessler's style (and does it as well as Kessler does it). Calzaghe;s stratgey would have to be to get inside and beat Kessler at infighting.
