the cheak to call duddy a terrorist when his uncle has been murdered by the british army. Don't know if thats true but if so what an arse.
the forum is full of 'classy guys'Red Medicine wrote:I heard about these accusations a few months ago and out of curiosity sent a PM to Shep inquiring about Duddy's nationality, and his reply stated that he couldn't wait until "the paddy wagon terrorist" got exposed so that people would stop talking about him. Really classy guy, this JohnShep.
Well it seems some people will be who they will be. Without dredging up all the particulars about the Duddy situation (which I have already expressed in earnest and followed up in jest) it seems that Mr Shep has tied his flag to a political mast as far as I am concerned.Red Medicine wrote:I heard about these accusations a few months ago and out of curiosity sent a PM to Shep inquiring about Duddy's nationality, and his reply stated that he couldn't wait until "the paddy wagon terrorist" got exposed so that people would stop talking about him. If he lost someone due to the troubles then all the more reason that he should have a bit more understanding for the situation.SticknMove wrote:Well it seems some people will be who they will be. He has created and developed an excellent site for boxing, but this bollocks surrounding Northern Irish boxers that wish to be classified as Irish as opposed to British is just plain stupidity on his part. It can be easily accomodated.
Perhaps he lost a relative or friend in the troubles, who knows ... others did as well. Anyway it will not stop me from me coming on here and reading and posting.
Wow - what a chunt the guy really is!!!Red Medicine wrote:I heard about these accusations a few months ago and out of curiosity sent a PM to Shep inquiring about Duddy's nationality, and his reply stated that he couldn't wait until "the paddy wagon terrorist" got exposed so that people would stop talking about him. I missed your thread on Africa in the off topic section. could you bump it up for us?Twinkle Toes wrote:And while people continue to starve in Africa - We have more interest in someone's nationality being wrong on a boxing website.
Paisley has calmed down a lot recently..its been commented on how well Paisley and Mcguiness get on!! The Two realise that to move forward both communities need to move closer and accomodations need to be reachedCollins2000 wrote:Duddy's reasonable request should be accommodated.
Those quotes from Shep make him sound about as enlightened as Ian Paisley.
Why Magee? He has fought for the British and Commonwealth titles.sligobhoy67 wrote:Wow - what a chunt the guy really is!!!Red Medicine wrote:I heard about these accusations a few months ago and out of curiosity sent a PM to Shep inquiring about Duddy's nationality, and his reply stated that he couldn't wait until "the paddy wagon terrorist" got exposed so that people would stop talking about him. And once again this aint about Duddy - its about Magee, McCloskey etc etc and all the Irish boxers from from Northern Ireland to come.
If Duddy falls by the wayside tommorrow, the exact same situation will only arise again with another boxer in a few months.
THIS ISN'T ABOUT DUDDY SPECIFICALLY, its the underlying issue because of the different way nationality is legally recognised in Northern Ireland as opposed to the rest of the United Kingdom
Matthew Macklin has fought for an Irish title , but he's English .Max Molyneux wrote:Why Magee? Macklin Is a brummie though and fought for the British title so It's only right to have him as a Brit.BigEars wrote:Matthew Macklin has fought for an Irish title , but he's English .Max Molyneux wrote:Why Magee? Eamon Magee would consider himself Irish and as for him fighting for titles , it doesn't really matter as pointed out with Macklin( although he is of Irish parentage he is really English) and Northern Ireland is part of the commonwealth so fighting for the commonwealth title doesn't make you any more British .
Barry McGuigan fought for the British title too , but he's Irish .
With regards Lee - Lee doesnt hold a British passport and never has - his family moved back to Ireland when he was a childMax Molyneux wrote:
You could always jokingly ask Shep to swap Andy Lee Duddy's nationality around, :P
Yes they would be right in saying that he was born in the United Kingdom - no one is disputing that - however his nationality is a different issue. And something tells me that that you havent read all the posts if I have to explain the different in terms of NI!gheeme wrote:If Duddy was born in Derry, then BoxRec has it spot on saying that he's from the United Kingdom as the UK includes NI.
According to some on here though hasn't he boxed In London Gyms as well?sligobhoy67 wrote:With regards Lee - Lee doesnt hold a British passport and never has - his family moved back to Ireland when he was a childMax Molyneux wrote:

I agree it is only right to have Macklin as a Brit , but the point I was making was just because you can fight for a country's title it doesn't make you from that country .Max Molyneux wrote:Macklin Is a brummie though and fought for the British title so It's only right to have him as a Brit.BigEars wrote:Matthew Macklin has fought for an Irish title , but he's English .Max Molyneux wrote: Why Magee? NI Is part of the commonweatlh but If you have just an Irish passport, then surely you can;t be eligible for the Commonwealth since Ireland left the commonwealth and Isn't a member. Maybe Magee has both passports then. So Magee down as either would be ok.
McGuigan's down as Irish on boxrec.

Ye might be right but If he holds just an Irish one then he'd be considered officially a foreigner.Northern Irish boxers only having an Irish passport doesn't stop them being eligible as Northern Irish is in the commonwealth and that it where they're born . Northern Ireland is governed by the BBBofC and therefore all those born there British passport or not can fight for the British title .
I very much doubt Magee has a British passport .
how many fuckin times have I asked you to read and provided a link to the details of the Good Friday Agreement? Read that and stop spouting ignorant shite!Max Molyneux wrote:Doesn't Shep go off where they learned to box though as well? It's Ignorant of you to assume I havent read up on this. I can ask the same of you to provide a link to prove Shep called whoever terrorists.sligobhoy67 wrote:how many fuckin times have I asked you to read and provided a link to the details of the Good Friday Agreement? Shep has said it twice now - once to a member of "Camp Duddy" during a phonecall and the second time to a "neutral" editor on here.Max Molyneux wrote:It's Ignorant of you to assume I havent read up on this. Here you go.
Since Magee has fought for the British title, how do we know If he has one or the other or both? Same with Kelly he won the Flyweight version. Just because Magee Is from a certain community doesn't make a case either.
So calling me Ignorant makes you Ignorant really, It's all fine and dandy for you to make wild accusations about what Shep say but when I say somethin you disagree with you come out with the Ignorant lie.
Go to the peoplecontinuetostarveinafrica.com forum, then. Last I knew, this was a boxing website, and John Duddy was a boxer.Twinkle Toes wrote:And while people continue to starve in Africa - We have more interest in someone's nationality being wrong on a boxing website.
actually this is a boxing records website - hence the reason we are discussing the record of his nationalityoliverfennell wrote:Go to the peoplecontinuetostarveinafrica.com forum, then.
