I've never seen the fuss in Minter he is probably area title/fringe british level standard. Sounds like he showed great heart and grit though so i commend him for that. However i wouldn't fancy his chances with O'Donnell from what i have seen of him if they were to fight. Minter is probably a WBU title holder waiting to happen.

Think Minter will come again, what I have liked about Minter is his coolness when up against it. The Chas Symonds fight for example - such an atmosphere and Symonds went out like a maniac - opportunity there for Minter to lose his rag, but he didn't.

Also, not so long back he suffered a potential fight stopping cut - again very cool... compare that to Bami's reaction to any damage last night.

I don't know, on paper you are correct - but on paper here I thought this was very 50:50 maybe I'd have given a slight advantage to the British fighters. I thought for the most part we have the size advantage in these fights plus home advantage.

Its not like these contenders are geniune contenders... theres been one or two stand out performers - Mora, Smith, Forbes who are obviously alot better than British title class (maybe Fringe world contenders) and a few others that are probably European title class but no futher (Manfredo, Brewer, Gomez, Joey Gilbert) etc - the rest are comparable with our guys selected... or so I thought.

Yeah i agree thats the american team weren't a world class set, but if it became a yearly thing , and the americans wanted to win it then 99 times out of 100 they could always get a stronger team than the UK could.

I've been bitching and moaning about this contest but reading through this post it sounds exciting.
Minter has impressed me too, the fight with Symonds had more hype around it than I've seen since but Minter managed really well. Sounds like he was in the driving seat and got caught here.
I really enjoy Anthony Smalls theatrics, in and out of the ring so I'll be interested to see him against a threatening boxer.
That just leaves how they manage the "Human Story" side of the show. I hope it's not toe curling.

Yep agree, I had had him well ahead on points until the KO

Anyone who was there tell me what all that howling and barking in the crowd all about? We found it hilarious when Bundrage howled back to that fan!

If there was only 8 fights, how was it 5-4? I'll give you the Smith fight, but Wright, c'mon. He faced a .500 late sub journeyman that had nothing to do with the contender. Even getting that fight, it is 4-4, with you losing the tie breaker

Anyhows, the fight card seemed easy to predict. The only fight I had wrong was Minter. The fights weren't that great of matchups as far as being good on paper, besides one fight. The contender always has been a joke to me anyhows......

They were barking at K9 - his 'trade mark' is barking and howling like a dog - he done it through the 2nd series. He was doing it at the training session and weigh-in too - he's one crazy guy!
