Of course it's a superfight.
Anyone who says any other is clearly not knowledgeable about the sport of boxing.

Barrera lost TWICE to talented by brittle Junior Jones, but now many are saying he might be the best ever Mexican// Lewis suffered 2x KO defeats yet was THE dominant heavy of a time that also included Holy, Bowe, Tyson all who avoided him// Oscar was outclassed by Felix Sturm of all ppl...
Yes but Barrera/DLH faced greater fighters. And DLH started at a lighter weight than Tyszu. How would Tyszu do against Sturm?
BTW I certainly don't consider Barrera the greatest Mexican. Certainly has a far better resume than Tyszu and has far more variety to his game.

Thanks Stu I always enjoy reading your posts - Great boxing knowledge and memory for detail - I suppose its tough for Sky deciding what would, and what wouldnt make a successful PPV - I strongly object to PPV anyway, we pay more than enough for SS without this add on - We should boycot PPV to show Sky we are already paying enough - I think its sad that so many people cannot see the boxing and football they want to because they cant afford SS and PPV - Anyway Sky presumably think there isnt enough profit to be made out of this one so its on SS1 I am glad to say - Hatton fights seem to be the only ones they can be sure of making their money on at the moment but it wont be long before we have to pay extra for David Haye fights, you can see that comming.

Au contrare, I would say that those sitting at home gushing up the 24/7 hype are the unknowledgable ones...
To engage in a debate about why DLH-PBF may not be a genuine 100% bonafide superfight would require an element of knowledge about the sport of boxing.

Not saying it's not a 'super-fight', I'm just saying I'm genuinely not really looking forward to it all that much.
I was looked forward to Calzaghe-Lacy much, much more.

Yep, two yanks for most of us isnt so appealing as a Brit and a Yank - Having said that there have been some tremendous bouts over the years not involving a British fighter, some real classics - Lets hope its one of those where you dare not blink never mind put the kettle on.

It's not a superfight in the way that I define a superfight.
IMO, a superfight is between the 2 best guys in a respective division, meeting to decide who is the best in the world.
They have be be in or not too far removed from their primes.
You could apply this logic to Mayweather but not ODLH IMO.
Yes, Oscar has been a great fighter, but he is past his best & his career is beginning to resemble that of Sugar Ray Leonard; jumping from weight to weight & having the odd fight every couple of years or so. The only difference is that ODLH is willing to fight the best, when they are at their best & without conditions, unlike Sugar Ray Leonard.
Superfights:-
Leonard v- Hearns 1.
Jones Jr -v- Toney (yes the fight was crap, but it was a genunine superfight).
Ali -v- Foreman.
The above 3 were bona fide superfights IMO.

Agreed Syntax.
Mayweather is worthy of a genuine superfight but DLH's star is just a little beneath that status now (to me).
It's Oscar's image and marketing skills that have turned this into a 'super' fight.
Would Mosely-Mayweather be a superfight? Probably not yet Shane and DLH's records are strikingly similar and of course Mosely holds 2 victories over DLH....

I dont know the definition of a superfight but the biggest fight as far as everyone knowing the fighters and the sense of the world stopping was Benn/Eubank 2 in my lifetime.. the hyperbole was like nothing else..
If i ask 100 people in the street who Oscar De La Hoya or Floyd Mayweather are i probably wouldn't find 1 who knew..

Hindsight proves some of you right. Bigger letdown than Tyson/Lewis?

No I don't think it was a letdown, I found it compelling viewing and a highly skilled contest.
(Unfortunately) Not all superfights can end up in thrilling multiple knockdown slugfests.
I remain uncertain of it's superfight status 48 hours after the event.
On the one hand the fight certainly did transcend the sport which is pretty much the definition of a superfight. People in work were discussing which is quite frankly unprecedented in my workplace.
On the other hand I didn't like the weight differential, I think it's the only reason the fight was even close. What next Mayweather-Hopkins?
